What's your view on homosexuality? I heard that CA recently legalized gay marriage. Being a homosexual, obviously I was happy to see that happen. Being homosexual is very hard, anywhere in the world (regardless what some might say). It's a tough place to be in, because there is always ignorant discrimination. I'm not here to preach about why I think it's right or wrong, but just to gather opinions and to see what others think (in a rational, polite way mind you). Discuss. |

I voted "I'm fine with it. Love is love.". I don't believe humans can choose their sexual preference; they just have it no matter what. I just find it absurd that many religions and other groups ridicule same sex couples. If a guy wants to be with a guy, or visa versa with females I don't see any problem with it at all. |

I voted for "I'm fine with it. Love is love.". Its just seems foolish to go against same sex couples, if someone wants to be with someone else, be it the same sex, theres nothing wrong about it, it's there preferance anyway. |

I'm fine with it, love is love. People are at liberty to be happy and if happiness comes from loving someone of the same gender then so be it. A person who disagrees should just mind their own damn business and focus on their own lives and problems rather than trying to 'right' the imperfections of others. As Fayt has said I believe a person doesn't intentionally choose what sex they would like to be attracted to, where is the logic in choosing a life of hardship and opposition? |

Completely agree with Fayt - and with the others as well. I really hate how important Christian people like pope tell to the whole world that all Christians reject homsexuals... that's completely false! Well, that's all cya! |

Love is love! Hey, come on, the church preaches to love everyone, they should set an example. I believe you fall in love with the soul of a person, and that is genderless. The body isn't everything there is to us, so it's foolish to deny you love someone just because you have the same gender. What on earth is so bad about homosexuality?!?!?! I mean, everything they can ever say is: "It's against nature, blaa..." That isn't very convincing, in my opinion. You can't take away the right to love!! Love is the highest emotion, in my opinion, t he most important...I do not see anything wrong with loving someone of your gender, and I can't find much respect for those who do. |

I'm fine with it, so long as people who are don't flaunt it all the time, ie they're gay and they want you to know that they are as well. It might be the lifestyle choice of that person but that person doesn't to show the world that lifestyle choice. |

Maybe gay people find it offensive, or don't like it when Straight people 'flaunt' their sexuality. In my mind, it doesn't seem fair that a straight couple could walk down the street, hand in hand, kiss, touch, whatever! Yet... If a gay couple did, they'd have insults thrown at them, and in some cases physical violence. People should be free to live how they want, and if that person is a camp guy or butch woman, they should be allowed to flaunt themselves however they want. You're basically saying that you don't mind gay people as long as you don't see or hear about them, and you're most likely one of those straight guys who thinks "Omgz, all gay people are gonna flirt with me, omg, im gonna be turned gay, omg they all fancy me, omg!" The reality is that, gay people are just the same as everyone else. We don't flirt with every person we see. And if a gay guy/lesbian did, then it's just because they're a flirt, has nothing to do with them being gay. *cough* Anyway, obviously i voted for Love is love. Being gay myself, i have preeeetty strong views on this discussion topic. I hope this Debate doesnt go the same way as the other Homosexual ones did  |

Well, for one thing, if I was ever in a relationship, I'd never get engaged in PDA(public displays of affection) with my girlfriend, because that would be inconsiderate to other people if I did that. I also happen to expect that same consideration from other people be they straight or gay or bi. |

Haha, well that's your choice if you don't wish to engage in PDA. The fact is that, everyone should feel free to do so, without worry of insults or harm. If you don't wish to for your own personal reasons, then that's fine, I wasn't saying ALL straight people did, rather they all can, if they so please. I've love to be able to walk down the street hand in hand with my bf, but I know that that would be a stupid thing to do =/ . Unless you're in a specificly gay friendly area, you would have to be very brave to do that. I don't see how that is fair. And, I don't actually find straight people being a couple offensive, lol, it was just an example of how it could work both ways. I personally am happy for anyone who has a bf/gf and are in love, I just wish i could show my own love in the same way as straight couples do. |

I Choice the first Love is Love.
Anyway I understand how hard it is for a guy to be Gay. My best friend is Gay and he hid in the closet for so long his family are very good people all of them and they care for him dearly but the one thing that he thinks will ruin all of that is that if they found out he was Gay. He is telling me now that he will run away once he finishes School,He will not tell them in person that he is gay because of how they may react instead he will leave them a note and be off. He said that he doesnt want to be treated any diffrently and everyone will once they have found out he is Gay. I feel really bad when he told me this. Everyone in his school thinks he is cool and hes a popular kid,he has a good family and great friends. He says that how he will live a life with no family and people that he grew up with? He w=even has suicide thats and wishes that after he dies he wants to forget everything so he wont miss anyone and suffer. |

Love is love, who cares if your gay/bi/lesbian. People are like this towardss my bro, they say to me is your brother gay? And I go, what does it matter to you, it's his business, and at the end of the day he still my bro, but they mainly think hes gay because of his voice, his and my voices are only like that because lived in the south for awhile so when we moved up north, our accents got muddled up. I thought the bible said somehwere that they should have relationships with the same sex, and sinners are mixed gender couples, but heck I'm not religious I might of misheard. |

Same sex relationships were prohibited in the Bible, mixed(straight) couples weren't. People who are gay tend to get picked on an awful lot yeah, but any group that's "different" is pretty much fair game to be discriminated against, it's a fact of life, not a pleasant one but what can you do. |

^That's true. I just never can seem to understand where all the "hate" comes from. I mean sure straight guys may be uncomfortable about a gay guy(usually because they think they'll hit on them). Honestly, they should just take it as a complement that the SAME sex finds them attractive. That doesn't mean you've got to do anything with them or you need to get freaked out, but just take it in stride and feel accomplished. Gay people don't hit on everybody of the same sex that they are, and I think alot of people have that misconception. I know from my own experience, the people that generally direct hate towards my friends and I, I never even looked at in "that way" and are usually guys I wouldn't hit on regardless. I know my sister had a bit of a hard time when I finally came out, and I always felt strange around her friends (guy friends, at least). I always felt like I was looked down upon and that I made her feel ashamed. We're still very close, but I still can't help but to feel that way sometimes. She accepts me, but I just don't like putting her (or my family really) in that type of situation. I just feel guilty I guess, and I know I shouldn't feel that way but.....it just happens I suppose. |

Eh No, you have misheard buddy. In the Bible and many other books from Abrahamic religions state that if you're gay, you have a one way ticket to hell because it is unnatural  So that is why I believe that religion is one of the major causers of hate and discrimination (ignorance) towards homosexuals. I mean where do you think most of the modern values and principals come from? Sure, most of them are changing but there still there underlying. I'm Muslim myself and even though it states that its hell worthy in my religion, I cannot bring myself to really view Homosexuals in that kind of light so much. I'll admit now that when I was younger I did scorn them a tad but as I've got older I've got accepting and whatnot because: I've met some gay and lesbian people both in RL and here on the forum and they're awesome people. And wait for it... They never hit on me once! =O Well for the lesbians it's kinda understandable but them and the guys are totally normal people, sure there are probably some who would get a kick out of doing that but it isn't exclusive to gay people. |

only towards homosexuals? i believe , and i dont mean to offend anyone by saying this, that religion in the top causes of hate towards any minority group. Ok then, back on topic, well, i have never met a gay person in RL, but im sure that they would be just the same as the rest of us, being gay is only a very minute detail about someone, and that that one little fact should cause a whole religious group to hate them |

Religion has always seemed to have had that mentality of "if you don't believe with us, you're an outcast". At least that seems like how it works sometimes regarding the people of some religions. I actually just saw a show (I think it was called 30 Days or something like that) and this particular episode focused on a straight male going to live in a gay area of San Francisco, CA for 30 days. Needless to say he came out a changed person it seemed like, and his opinions seemed to have changed about gay people (since he'd never really been in favor of them). Once he started to see that alot of the stereotypes he had made were wrong, he began to wonder about stuff and seemed impressed. Then they had a gay church leader speak with him as well, and she was basically telling him that "Ya know, why are you making your decisions out of a book and not your own human emotions and feelings; doesn't the bible mention you aren't supposed to kill someone as well, and yet you have to since you're in the military?" She made good sense, since she was reverting to his mentality of "if it's in the bible, it's how it is". She asked if he thought he was going to Hell because he had to kill people in the military and he said no because he was doing it for his country. So she replied with something along the lines of "Well in that mentality, I'm not going to Hell for being homosexual because I love my partner, and that's what marriage is supposed to be based on." She really nailed him haha, but I think it worked out well. His opinion was definitely changed when he got back home. |

I'm not really surprised Shinpusan, GLP according to his profile is just 16, and therefore would still be in high school. At that age I did not definitively know a gay person myself. I’m hardly and expert but I imagine at a younger age one may not be fully aware of their sexuality, or at the least at that age may be shy to admit it. I've known several since sure and they are lovely people, I worked with one of them in a few of my accounting classes, he was a really great guy. Anyway, I’m also pleased at the dominance in “I'm fine with it. Love is love.” votes, it appears we have a majority of open minded members here, I like that! |

Well, I am only 17, and I know quite a few, and plenty more who are too shy and/or ashamed to admit it, sadly. Though, I completely understand your point. I suppose it was surprising because I am friends with quite a lot of gay or bisexual people. |

Dont see why this should even be a discussion (not saying this topic has no right to exist) Its pretty obvious that all that matters is love, who cares if you are a man loving a man a parkeet loving a pandabear or a bicicle loving an airplane. As long as you dont act as if everyone has to know, cause its not that interesting really. I think that homosexuality has been made a issue by media, as they make an issue out of anything that can get them public dissaray>something to report>money.
hmmm, weird things.. fun.. imply something... hmm.. do they go to a circus.. hmm..maybe a fair? I cant think of other fun things atm. |
