Does anyone else miss the bodyguard system? I thought it was fun to have, it didn't make me feel so alone when I rushed in to massacre. :P

Although I did get pretty mad that they always took my kills and stuff. >_< But does anyone want them back other than me? :\

Well....I never really did like the one Body Guard thing....
However....I do miss the Body Guards of DW3.
They were pwnsome in a fight. Especially the elite class with cross bows.
They were my fav.
It would be nice if I could get those back....but alas....no.
The single Body Guards.....naw....I don't miss them at all.

Yeah, I agree. Bodyguards like DW2, DW3, and DW4 was great. Having about eight in max, mastering them up. They become extremely useful, anyway if there were bodyguards on DW6, I'd much prefer the old kind. The ones from DW5 as well were pretty useful, like the ones with the healing skills, but I never found much use for the rest besides when I need assistance.

Don't miss it very much.

I hated the bodyguard system on DW5 personally, but DW2-4 were simply awesome. I liked being able to choose to have a bodyguard guard a certain area or officer, like someone who was very vulnerable. I also liked being able to take more than 1, which really ruined it for DW5.

Oh yeah, those were some few-ups and downs. What would have been interesting is if DW6 did get a body guard system, featuring if you would like the orginal choice of eight, or simply one bodyguard who can become as good as your characters. However it would be useful for Hu Lao Gate, seeing you have to be at least level 15 to stop Lu Bu.

but the good thing about DW5's bodyguard that some was able to heal you on the battlefield even though it wasn't much but it helps but i think that the old system is better you could choose up to 8 guard to help you. :) .

the only way i'd want BG's back, is if the were similar to the BG's in DW3 & DW4, i really disliked the single BG system in DW5.

The bodyguard system was another "tradition" (so to speak...) of the DW series, similar to the opening edit. It is too bad it was taken out...

But yes, I really enjoyed playing with 8 fully clad armored bodyguards at my side. Telling them what to do, or shaving the bodyguard numbers down was great if I didn't want too many with me or if I wanted them to shield me. It was an amazing system, and I do not know why Koei took it out.

Even DW3XL/DW4 had the option of naming your bodyguards!! Now this was cool. Someone should go back to one of those 2 games and create a Koei Warriors bodyguard unit and put in peoples names like Insp. Chin and some mods :D

Take a screenshot or take a pic with your camera :P

I miss them, too. I liked having a large number of them by my side, but I also enjoyed the healing ones from the fifth game. It was annoying having them take my officer kills, but they served their uses.

I'd like to see them make a return in the next installment. Maybe offer the option of choosing between multiple low powered ones that can take out or stun enemies or one stronger unit that can actually cause them decent damage or use special skills like healing once again.

Yeah, even the smallest health given to you can be more useful then Attack/Defense + !

I wouldn't mind for that healing kind on DW6 Hu Lao Gate. Bodyguards would have been crucial to that point.

I always use them, but don't use them for help but really just for the sake of it. They were menacing when fully-trained in the older titles, especially when there was 8 of them. And in the earlier expansions having a playable character as a bodyguard was quite cool, especially when it could be used as a double musou. Though of course them claming your important kills is always going to be frustrating unless Koei somehow program them to give you the kill since they are under your command.

I use them to really just train them and yeah their annoying when they take the important kills.
Whats even more annoying is that in DW2, they could ride your horses and often times they will crash into you interfering with your fighting, now thats annoying. <_<

Oh yes, my brother's friend was the one who found his bodyguard mounting his horse lol. I believe he was just jumping and ended up mounting instead.

All bodyguards' potential will be at it's maximum when they no longer interfere by stealing your kills, ie. When your character is fully buffed with fourth weapon, and no longer care for specific officer kills.
From my experience they do save lives, especially when you get juggled by a mob.
DW4 - The group of bodyguards is like your personal mini army, they attack mercilessly.
DW5 - Reduced to a single person, but still good in some aspects.
SW2 - Sometimes I don't even realise their on the map, much more useless than DW series bodyguards. But I do like however, the different variety types of bodyguards offered.

uhh, i didnt mind the bdoyguards, i used them, but after a while they did just become a pain, mainly cause they stole all the important kills, that was at its worse in the older titles, because you had so bloody many guards that they themselves could swarm the main camp and win, but in dw5, it was better to have just one, who can do other things also :)

I love having a bodyguard, the single unique type that is, I was not a fan of the group of bodyguards like in the prior Dynasty Warriors titles.

Funnily enough, while I dislike using a bow myself I find the perfect bodyguard is indeed one with a bow. If I ever find myself against an overwhelming opponent I use a far more defensive strategy against the enemy and strike only when I get an opening - which is helped by my archer bodyguard firing at them from afar.

I just don't like the more melee style ones, they tend to just get in the way and take my kills. >.>

i'll agree with you to some extent, Fayt. the only ones of the DW5 era BG i used WERE the archers, i despised the rest, even the healing ones. but i loved the 8 person BG unit DW3/DW4 era it was cool to name them and tweak appearances, i usually used the female/Amazons with spears or pikes, i never really had much issue with them stealing my kills, just them getting killed. maybe that's just me. but, all in all, as DW6 proved they were not all that important, just fun. i would'nt mind seeing the SW1 style 4 man unit back, with a little more variety in choices,

^ Indeed foomin, in DW5, and also SW2 I found the archer bodyguard was by far the best. I guess I rate them higher as well because they are the two most recent I've played (don't have next gen yet...)

I wasn't as big a fan of the group bodyguards though, mind you I didn't play DW4 or SW1 all that much either to be honest. So I'm only really able to compare to DW3, and in that they were rather poor and died on me far too often.

bodyguards....

dw3 let you have 8 all together. the nanman women looked hot.
dw4 let you have8 also i think refresh my memory. they looked ok...

with 8 body guards protecting you it was like you controlled a squad of men or wemen. that is real to me. and i enjoyed that.

dw5 one single bodyguard? well ok i accept. better then nothing. and the girls were very hot the fan lady who could heal that was a site for sore eyes.. and the swords girls were dressed nice too. and i enjoyed the system having a brilliant superior bodyguard was tops. they really fought well and did not die easily.

dw6 no body guard? you know this is the ps3 and the xbox360 koei, these systems can pump out more stuff. so why no body guard? did you run out of space on the disk? come on.....

Nah I don't bother with them usually. I find that a lot of the time they die pretty easily (DW5 that is) so I just got used to not having one. The only time I use them is if I have nothing else to do but level up bodyguards.
In SW2 I never use them either. I haven't got round to getting Kojiro or Katsuei as bodyguards and I probably won't bother now since I have SW2XL. Again I find them more trouble than they are worth stealing KOs and so on...

the SW1 BG seemed to have higher defense and lower attack, IMO. which was nice. i liked having the ninja with me mainly because they look good and run in such a silly manner. but i'd have to say DW4 was the point where i really enjoyed the BG group the most, and i'll also point out that you could choose the number in your BG party in both DW3 and DW4, but i always kept the eight.
