So much moonspeak... Even for me this is pretty overwhelming amount of kanji and such. I'll probably have to make a translation chart of sort to keep things straight.

This is the PUK, by the way.

There's a rumour saying that this is the last series of Nobunaga's Ambition game from, is this true? And yay for loads of Kanji! I can read Kanji but not Katakana :P

Been thinking of getting this sometime soon. Playasia has it for a fairly cheap price, and I'd not like to chance it not being localized, which even if it was, would be nothing compared to the PUK version.

So, impressions on the game so far? Is it better than Tenkasousei(Rise to Power)?

It's different in a way that I can't call it better. If you like ROTK 11's style of gameplay, this is more up that alley.

It's also awfully tough. Maybe it's because I picked the Shiba clan, who are usually the worst clan in the game starting off, but I lost multiple times because of the Nanbu and Date allying against me, and in the midst of battle calling on the help of local kokunin to rise against me.

The computer has no problem in their conquest, it's been about 15 years and the Uesugi have destroyed the Ashina, Date, Soma, Ashikaga AND Mogami in their expansion, and I haven't been able to finish my struggle with the Nanbu yet. Other clans are stingy bastards! The Mogami wouldn't ally with me until I let them hold one of my better officers as a hostage. After that he'd almost never share technology with me.

The PUK itself, besides offering bonus scenarios and adding a ton more officers, works almost like a debug mode. You can switch the officer who you want to be the clan's daimyo at the start, and in-game you can edit officer stats and even swap them between clans. You can also edit items, troop counts, weapon stocks, etc. with it.

The new portraits and music in this are excellent, to boot.

So I restarted as the Ota since I had accustomed myself to the game. Sukemasa looks a hella lot cooler here than in 11, to boot. Then BAM double-teamed by Takeda and Hojo within the year. Couldn't stand a chance!

I think I'll try to start as a slightly stronger clan this time...

Have you got the power-up pack? If so, the Mori clan rules supreme because of the archery upgrades (trade with England for this). Once you get the second one, you're basically set. If you don't, then cavalry is the way to go. Both Takeda and Uesugi are ridiculously powerful. Kenshin, with his maxed leadership of 120 + ranks giving him 133, can easily take the Mogami right from the beginning of the game.

A few select characters have special unique skills, btw.

I suggest you play regional mode to get yourself familiar with the game first. The two aforementioned clans are good, as well as Hojo in the 5th campaign - the fictional one. There they get Hojo Soun, who has the highest Stat total in the game, with 100+ in all stats except power.

Oda is quite easy to play. Have you searched sufficient times at the beginning? The Kinoshita brothers are phenomenal. You'll need lots of markets to support your power base, though.

Soldiers are all-important in this game. I would recommend at least ten soldier-house-thingies (whatever you want to call them), and you should be able to get ~5000 soldiers with a high enough Lead. 70 Lead is the minimum number because below that you get less troops than you should be able to.

And finally, don't overlook strategy skills. A well-placed Confusion can completely turn the tides of battle.

Good luck!

Oh, don't worry. I'm no rookie to NA, I know most of that. I mainly needed to figure out the mechanisms of the game before I can get really settled into playing. After a good test run with the Imagawa and of course going though the Tutorial, I've got most everything understood.

I'm thinking of starting my real play as either the Asakura, Rokkaku, Nanbu, or Kakizaki. I much prefer Takeda, Uesugi, Oda, Hojo, Shimazu and Mouri as opponents(or allies, in Hojo and Mouri cases.)

How about the Otomo and Chousoukabe? Both have special techs, are fairly powerful, but yet still much weaker than the major clans. Otomo has the awesome Dosetsu, Muneshige, Takahashi (and Sorin himself is decent too), while Chousoukabe is a huge challenge with only Motonari and his brother being decent. Not to mention that you'll still have to deal with the Mouri, and the Oda...

I've been doing a 1556 Saito. It's surprisingly easy - Dosan is an amazing character, and you get Mitsuhide and later Takenaka as well. They start out with three (four?) allies, and as long as you're in control, the Oda can never raise up.

Suzuki's pretty fun too.

As for your list, well, good luck. Those are pretty weak. If you're really brave, try those dudes up at the northernmost point of Japan...

Can't stand the Otomo. I like the Tachibana, but they're always stuck hanging off that stupid bald man.

Otomo and Chosokabe's really the same deal as the other guys I listed.

Nanbu and Kakizaki are the two clans furthest north. I'd normally pick the Kasai up there, but it seems they've been reduced to ronin officers in this game.

Actually, the Nanbu are comparatively strong. They can easily romp anyone else in the north, and their first true challenge should come once they run up against Kenshin.

It depends on which level you play. The Nanbu has some pretty competent officers IIRC, and if you can get the Date then you're pretty much set. Kenshin will be a real problem, though. He's just a monster in original Kakushin.

I've stopped playing this game since it's practically the same whatever clan you play. Assimilate a stronger clan, then use their officers to victory.

And just so that this isn't complete spam. Any tips for a NA nub like me? General things preferably since I don't have Kakushin.
