Its just Koei's fault for making the AI act like idiots to be honest. A little trying should solve the problem, I've had many cases of this over my years of playing.

I play the Empires mostly because I just like making own kingdom and choosing my favorite characters. ^_^ The endings are so amazing. The endings are better than in DW4E

My DW5 XL was damaged O_o I have no idea what happen to it. It can't be played. I have never tried some characters musou in XL <_<

I just got myself Dynasty Warriors 5 Extreme legends today, it seems good so far, but I have a question, I tried playing Extreme mode as Zhou Yu, beated like 5 stages but I still can't get a character to join me, is there some specific method for recruiting characters?

Edit: eh nevermind... I found out how, kinda. but thanks for being so nice, i'll be glad to help in the future... /sarcasm

A windstorm dropped a bird from the sky
It fell to the ground and it's wings broke and died
But when the time got by, back to sky it flied
'cause the wings healed in time and the bird was I.

DW5 was the first DW game I owned. I originally played it ages ago at a friend's place, then borrow it, then eventually retrned it, then eventually got my own copy ^.^ So yeah I can't really speak in relation to the other series, but I enjoyed 5 a lot. I know some people have been commenting on easiness but in a way I likeit because it's easy enough to initiate my younger sisters to playing it; at least one isn't a good map reader and none of them really pay attention to game instructions, so I'm hoping that by still winning anyway it'll give them encouragement to keep on playing when they're older and they'll have to pay attention to what's going on to win (at least sometimes) :p

I own DW5:E as well and I reckon it's pretty good except the gameplay was so short D: Good thing it's not bad replaying :) If I'm not trying to finish a game of (which I'm normally trying to do these days -_-), I play DW5:E when I don't know what else to play.

That's true, Bai Xue. Empires is one of those games you can jump straight into and not worry about always doing this and that. Though because of the limited storyline and fans being fans of the series, they'll get bored fast and would have to use their imagination and create scenarios more often than usual.

I actually enjoy Dynasty Warriors 5 more then any other of the series due to the individual musou modes for each character, their own weapons, moveset, and alternate outfits. This was the first Dynasty Warriors game I got into more then Dynasty Warriors 2 which was my first Dynasty Warriors game.

Xtreme Legends was extremely fun to play as well all because of Rampage was much more different from the original one since it gave you much more room to kill. I actually enjoyed Xtreme mode as well even though at times it was frustration that everytime you started a new one, you start with your weapon at default compared to Dynasty Warriors 4 Xtreme mode. I guess that was the whole purpose of it being xtreme .

Empires surprised me after I realized they had the voice gallery for the characters which was really fun to play around with. I was kinda disappointed how short the battles can be and the fact they had recycled some of the old voices with some new, horrendous voice to Sun Jian and Guan Yu.

Overall, this is by far my favorite out of the series. I am glad to have came across some great characters that I like such as Sun Quan, Jiang Wei, and Zhang He because I hadn't noticed them that much from the previous installments do to it's lack of fun factor that the others had to offer.

I'm playing Empires right now. The last few days I was doing the Yellow Turban scenario, managed to kill Cao Cao off easily at the end, and today, I'm Cao Cao and have roughly got about 6 or so areas of land. So there's still a lot to do. Executing anyone who annoys me or has past their expiry date of history. Except Zhao Yun is always an exception. :shifty:

Dynasty Warriors 5 was, for me, the real prize for me in the Dw series. A chance to create your own ruler, and actually unite china under your own Dynasty was truly epic.

You mean Empires haha, yes i agree that in the DW series that Empires version was the finest weve had to date, the DW5 main game was also the best since DW3 and indeed better than DW6. The only fault with the DW5 series of games was the poor DW5XL, the new levels on that were awesome but could have just been added to the DW5 game - there wasnt enough new stuff with the game to justify spending money on the title and no new characters on a XL game was baffling to me.

Well, I got lucky.
A few days back, I got my hands on Dynasty Warriors 5: Xtreme Legends for PlayStation 2. I think it's a pretty rare game, nowadays. Isn't it?

Bets DW game IMO, individual stories, lots of characters (Pang De, Jiang Wei, Zhu Rong!!) and stages, what else more could you ask? I really enjoyed the a lot of the additions to this game: Ling Tong, Guan Ping, Pang De, Cao Pi and Zuo Ci. Hopefully DW7 is more like DW5 and less like DW6...

Wonder if anyone has done any research on the weapon drops during Destiny Mode? I've been trying like heck to get Dong Zhou's sword, but I honestly can't recall _ever_ seeing it on any runthrough.

I've gotten the other 'Other' weapons before - I actually passed on a great Sky Piercer - and I seem to get some weapons a lot more than others. For example, I've gotten Guan Ping's sword maybe 10 times now as I replay.

Is there _anything_ I can do to make the likelihood of getting Fear?

Edit: finally got one, woo-hoo! although it is the crappiest weapon possible pretty much. But I'm tired of doing the Bai Di stage, so I took it.

Does anyone know where I can find a Destiny mode guide? I've been having a lot of problems with it. Even just a few tips would be nice. I was trying to do Guan Du (which I think is only the second mission) and some general with a lot of health almost killed me. Lived for a while, but eventually got killed. Irritating, to say the least :(

Edit: *sigh* I survived all the way to the end and then we ran out of time. Enemies got into main camp and they had me go back to camp. I don't kill fast enough to be able to do this level. Stats on my person (if this somehow has anything to do with it):

Skills: 3 hit, 4 hit, charge, level 1 (health), basic (mount)
Weapon: Sword

This guy is on a save I actually haven't played in a while, but that to me does not explain why I'm having so much grief with this stupid level.

Charge is good, but you can probably put Basic (mount) off until later, since you don't really have that many opportunities to grab horses early on anyway.

Just try to do really well on the Yellow Turbans stage, getting both of your Objectives too. That will get you a promotion right away and a better weapon. Even if you're gunning for your general's weapon, if you happen to find a better one early on go with that. I managed to find Guan Yu's saber with Def/Atck, so I abused the heck out of it for the 2-3rd level.

Of course, try not to get caught by lieutenants. If one general is running away, it's usually better to concentrate on the ones that are left rather than pursue, unless you know you can catch him shortly.

It's better to aim for easy Objectives than go for harder ones you will probably fail, just because of the stage layout/conditions. Towards the end, Volley+Ice Arrow is a godsend. Also for some reason, the Wei last stage is ridiculous compared to the Wu/Shu last stages.

Thank you for the tips, Chenry. I'll probably just go ahead and restart the mode, since I wasn't that far in anyway. I'll see if I can't do any better using your tips :)
