Yes, so as many might have guessed, I like the stage because my favorite character plays a big role in it.

I can remember the funny times of me and my brother making fun out of Zhang Fei's DW3 yell due to his lip synching being way out of place in the English version.

I like the previous DW6 copy of the level, except the fact that Liu Bei flees so early and the missions are in constant need of precious and limited time. And plus what I found weird, was when with Wei, Zhao Yun wasn't holding Liu Chan when he was dashing through our forces in this one....though I suppose that cool cutscene of his makes up for it?

I think DW4's layout is the best one , especially with the music " Eve " actually fit well in the stage of Chang Ban. and is sounds just like Liu Bei is trying to escaping from the Cao Cao's Madness. and it's cool to see like after Liu Bei reach half of the map the main force of Cao Cao appear. It was the best part ever. DW6 wasn't that bad , but I miss the music " Eve "

Both of the tracks sound like the army is in chaos and it being a race for time. I would say they are both fitting to the purpose.

DW4's version is like the only one i dont remember  . But I loved this stage in DW2, it wasnt such a big rush and you had to defeat Cao Cao to beat the level, if I remember correctly. And I loved how you were overtaken if you were on Liu Bei's side, so then you can just take everyone on yourself.
DW3 was good, first time I saw the new characters of Xu Huang and Zhang He. I also liked it because the terrain was a bit different and it had a couple of narrow paths.
DW5 just didnt feel like Chang Ban to me. Because if you were on Shu side, you practically own Wei easily, and it shouldnt be that way.
DW6's version = worse level ever. I hated the rush of the level so much and your commander would die if you left his side, and what is the point of Zhang Fei(if you are on Wei side) if you fight him, you will lose the match for sure. Overall, all of them combined, they were just good but not that great.

Maybe I can help refresh your memory. DW4's map had a big castle covering most of the field with 1 path either side with both paths meeting up at the top and bottom.

Can you remember Zhao Yun's Legend in XL? Its that map.

Oh, and your right about Zhang Fei. As battling him would and does waste so much time its not worth the bother, especially when training new characters.

Still cant remember  and I didnt buy any of the DW XLs. I have the DW2 guide to remind me of those levels(even though I dont need it to remember), I have Kongmings archives to remind me of the DW3 levels, and I have the guide for DW5 to remind me of those. But I cant find the layouts for DW4 maps online anywhere and there is no guide.

You think we can agree that Zhang Fei is the hardest he's been in 6? Since fighting him is 1, very hard, and 2, time consuming allowing his brother to flee. It kind of defeats the purpose really, it would've been amazing to fight such a strong warrior and have plenty of time to capture Liu Bei. But then again, the whole stage bases around him fleeing, so thats not going to help fix things either. I guess two versions could though. An XL stage or something, like in DW4 where you get his weapon and your morale gets effected when a single peon passes the bridge.

Chang Ban is my least favorite level in every DW game, hands down.

They don't give you time, and when I play these games time needs to be my friend. I don't like to be rushed.

DW6's is a pain, and I never plan on playing it ever again. Though I always thought it was funny when I was facing Zhang Fei and I knocked him off the bridge he was defending into the water. That's always a blast.

Zhang Fei's huge bridge defending quotes are also always really good, and the best part of the battle. In fact, Zhang Fei is the only character you can pick that actually makes the battle fun IMO, since he plays that huge role and you can defend the bridge yourself.

Don't mind them!

My favorite characters don't play a big role in it -_-

I love defeating the badass Zhang Fei at the Chang Ban Bridge, chasing and defeating Zhao Yun who dares to show off in Wei military unit and beating Zhuge Liang's fire strategy. And finally, chase the fleeing Liu Bei and defeat him! :shifty:

DW4 version has Chang Ban a long vertical design. For this stage I'd applause to Zhao Yun and Zhang Fei for their courage at Chang Ban. There are ambush units and lots of enemies standing your way to reach Liu Qi's or Guan Yu's naval fleet. Its fun beating Wei generals standing on your way. Liu Chan is held on a box at the castle which occurs a cutscene taking Liu Chan which the cutscene can be changed any character. DW5 is kinda boring. In Shu side sometimes Liu Bei halts on the southern garrison and do not reach to the escape route. Not much enemies to beat up but there is ambush units. I don't like the DW5 version that much in IMO.
My thoughts are pointing to such a violent world.

Mwahaha...
I love ripping the field to shreds with Zhang Fei all the time and with Zhao Yun its great to riding through the enemies, I loved the DW4 version where you actually had to pick one route and had to save Liu Bei's child aka the little idiot, although not my favorite stage, the fact two of my favorites play a big role is enough for me to like it...

DW3 is my favourite. Chase the Wave is my favourite DW song so I enjoy this level.
DW2 Wei side is great because you get a lot of reinforcments from everywhere on the map.
DW4 is long and saving Liu Chan was good. The music made me sad the first time as it sensed their was no hope for Liu Bei.
DW5 is my second favourite. I love the scenery and the music. I love how everyone is working together to escape.
DW6 would have to be my 3rd. I love the song. Shame the battle ain't that long but you can play as Liu Bei to keep the stage going for ever after the refugees retreat.

DW4 could be the best Chang ban I ever played!!!!!!!!!
But......DW6 Chang ban is the worst level I ever played!!!!!!!

Shu:
-Hell rushing up,down.left, right to save the peaseants(if you want)
-The peaseants would not move unless you really touch the captain!
-Cao Cao ambush almost appearing like an stupid bee and aming the saving of peaseants even harder.
-What is the stupid purpose of Guan Yu?He do nothing in Shu Secnerio

Wei:
-HYPER ZHANG FEI!!!!!!!
-Zhao Yun appear halfway making the conditions worse!!!!
-I cant belive it when I saw the targets say cannot kill peasents captain?????????????
-Liu Bei is running like mad didnt bother to hit back when i hit him!
-Cursing Guan Yu blocking the hell way to Liu Bei

Conclusion:Worst stage and reminder please get good horse to win the stage

I hate playing this stage especially for Wei because not only do you have to chase Liu Bei down but you have Zhang Fei to deal with as well. At least with Shu you can easily make it to the escape point without any trouble but what's the fun in that really?

The theme of this level, I think is actually well done, but I just hate it for a number of reasons. There are a couple of games I've played the level in, and I'll tell you why I hate them in each of them.

DW4:
-I hate the fact that you can only choose one path to get to the escape, in both forces.
-Zhang Fei is actually quite easy, coz I'm a master, but Zhao Yun in front of him wastes too much time.
-I really HATE it when Guan Yu appears as enemy reinforcements, and you try to reach Liu Bei, but you can't coz Guan Yu and his pals are, like, everywhere.

DW5:
-Zhang Fei seems too... insignificant. I mean, sure he's got his cutscene where he creams all those peons, but I take one look at the map and I go "Then just use the bottom bridge! WTF?"
-The bases drive me nuts. I hate it when I'm locked in a base, so I have to climb out of the ladder without my horse and continue without it. Walking without a horse is the biggest pain in the world.

DW PSP:
-This has got to be the worst game in the DW series. Well, maybe surpassing DW1 and DW Advance. This game is so bad in fact, that NOTHING happens. Literally. Allies advance, and the boss hangs around in his own place like he's waiting for an asteroid to hit the earth. Chang Ban is no different. Zhang Fei just stands in the center and waits until some idiot goes in there and they never come out. Liu Bei is not moving towards his escape point, either. It's just like the most boring battle. Well, one of the most boring, considering the fact that every other level is just the same, except with a little different setup. Great.

DW Vol. 2 (PSP):
-When you're in the Wei force, Liu Bei gets to the escape point way too fast, so you can't do anything. I also hate it when you're halfway there and then Zhang Fei gets sick of you, so he decides to stop you and meddles with your area. Then the 0 spirit goes back up to 8 again, and you have to kill all those people again.
-When you're in the Shu force, Liu Bei is too good. And that's a bad thing. Just as you're about to pwn the area, he escapes and you win too fast.

I agreed with you cause this Chang Ban Liu Bei does not escape at all which is a good thing but......because of the morale system and suppplies system,it turns out like if one of your peaseants unit get killed the morale of your troops dropped and you probably lost the area and you will automatically transfered back to the main camp.

AND you need to go the hell way back again to clear the way but....now the supplies is getting low so you must now get back supplies depot if one of your depot has fallen but your peaseants is getting killed minute by minute and if unluckily your morale dropped to 0 again transfered back to main camp finally two to three generals attacking Zhang Fei at the bridge??????????

This is insane and if you play it in hard you sure lose and i tried it in chaos which the result is all peaseants and supplies depot died and conqured in 5 minutes and Zhang Fei attacked by 5 generals at a time........

Wow perfect idea Koei......And this Chang Ban version could be the worse in every DW series game......
