Mine would have to be Zhang Liao. I was not too big of a fan of his when I first started playing, but I found as I continued to buy the games, my fondness grew in regards to liking him. His design was getting better as it progressed in my opinion.

He is heroic, has fame, though lacked and was really just average in the old times. But thanks to DW6 he's finally shining more than ever, especially towards how much damage he does when charging Sun Quan at He Fei. It was tough challenging him at first when surrounded by other foe officers as well, and being alone, literally.

What about you?

Pang De is my fav Wei officer

I liked his design very much: the European knight armor makes him stand out a bit. His weapons are awesome.

He's really a no-nonsense type of fighter, and he packs a punch. A match for the god of war :)
The name's Pang Tong. I do what it takes to get the job done. Nothing more DW Strikeforce/ Pang Tong duel

this ones more difficult. but Zhen Ji, for sure. the first character i played with the changes from DW2 to DW3(a friend had already unlocked a bunch of characters). she's been a strong favorite ever since. right behind her tho' are Cao Ren(left him for Rydain), Xu Huang, and Zhang He.

Zhen has always been one of the strongest female characters in the series. her MS is easy to use and the flute(while an unconventional weapon) is excellent. her slapping and kicking moves have always brought great success to my style of play. her Musou while stationary works really well for me, run into the midst of enemies and let loose. or one on one against officers is nearly unblockable.

her story has always been pretty good, even if it was'nt historical. i far preferred her noble Empress like persona from DW3-4 than the elitist bitchy one from DW5-6.

Ya LDZ, you made the right choice ;)
Zhang Liao is deffinitely my favorite. He has always been awesome. In DW6, he has one of the better movesets. He has always had good designs too, and for some reason I have always thought of him as a french man  , I guess its the mustache. He is always a good guy too, never seems evil in anyway and just wants to have peace.

Unlike the other two kingdoms, this time, I have to vote for Zhang Liao as well. However, my reasoning isn't because of his work with Wei.

Zhang Liao was so bloody epic that he actually hung out with Lu Bu.
He also did some awesome things for Wei.

right behind her tho' are Cao Ren(left him for Rydain)

 You know how I like to prattle about my favorite tank...but I'd love to hear your thoughts on him as well.

tl;dr summary - I find Cao Ren quite admirable, history-wise and game-wise, and I always enjoy playing as him.

Historically, Cao Ren disciplined himself out of youthful rabble rousing to become an accomplished fighter and commander. He had much success in a variety of campaigns, including the famous defense of Fancheng, and a heroic moment where he ran deep into enemy hordes to rescue Niu Jin and an associate. Ren was known for raising morale at key moments. His losses were few, and they appear to me as well-fought contests between talented leaders. For instance, Ren retreated from Jiangling after a year of siege from the combined efforts of Wu's finest.

Koei characterizes Cao Ren as an unassuming guy who dislikes war but gives it all he's got because that's the only way the fighting will end. Cut scenes demonstrate his self-sacrifice and genuine care for the little guy. Ren laments the damage done to the land by a water attack when no one is around to hear him. He throws himself on the front lines and in front of arbalests to protect ordinary soldiers, who then praise him as their great general.

By and large, Koei's persona for Cao Ren meshes with his historical background. I'm not sure he would dislike war per se, but he would have a sense of perspective about it. Accomplished generals who have seen much bloodshed often consider war a necessary evil rather than something to be all gung-ho about. Given Ren's brave rescue of subordinates and noted ability to rally his men, there probably was a mutual respect between commander and soldiers.

I like his character designs as well. In DW4 and DW5, Ren's multi-layered armor makes him look well-protected yet agile. Cao Ren has one of the most interesting faces among the cast. His features are uniquely broad, placid, and mature. The nifty eye scars set him apart even further. There's a lot of facial feature similarity among the "youthful pretty/HAWT" male characters. Cao Ren looks much more realistic to me, and I do find him handsome. :P (His DW6 style is my least favorite - definitely more good than meh, but I quite dislike the black eyes.)

Gameplay-wise, I always got a kick out of football playing Mega Man. Cao Ren was a favorite in DW5. In WO, his varied smashy smashy bomb the crowd stomp Lu Bu to death fighting style combined with being on my general favorites list made him the BEST CHARACTER EVER!!11!eleventy DW6 turned him into a halberd guy, but that was cool with me. I liked the halberd best out of all the cloned move sets, with its straightforward style and excellent reach and coverage. I really liked Cao Ren's bolt projectiles and tanklike skill tree.

I don't even have to think about this one, it's Zhang Liao without a doubt.

I think he is not just the best Wei character, but the best character in the game.

His move set (DW3 > DW5) is as complete as it gets, he is an exceptional character to use, and also to see his story. Particularly in DW5 having him play a role along side Lu Bu and then move onto one of the greatest generals of the Wei army is also fantastic.

Outstanding character in all areas imo.

I'd rate Xu Huang 2nd actually, he is just a bit more unique...I like that.

at Rydain's request, i'll comment on how Cao Ren follows Zhen Ji so closely in my favorites.

i suppose it comes down to this: if i was to be an Officer of any kind/in any war, Cao Ren is the type i'd choose to be. solid, dependable, thoughtful and well-liked, but dangerous and firey when provoked or needed. he has all the commendable characteristics that i personally would look for in a leader and wish to have myself. i love his cutscene with Zhen Ji in DW4, proving they are the quietest, yet most steadfast of the Wei generals.

his DW4-5 weapon was not my favorite, but it suited him and his MS was easy for me to master and had some really spectacular moves. his Musou was always a blessing and capably devastating. his model always felt very right and is one of my favorite in any Warriors game, no matter which version i use. i really enjoyed his Trident in DW6 and felt he seemed less cloney than many others. i hope that with his individualized MS in DW6:S, he gets some really great moves and will remain a favorite.

Once again I must say Zhang He, he is the superb killing machine to wreak havoc and destrucion on thy enemies. His lighting speed and nimble movements are unmatched by any other officer. Besides, he has the pretties shoes. Muahahaha  Actually I like Sima Yi more now, becuase his weapon is total domination. And I've always had an affection for Zhen Ji and her evil temptress ways. I'm not sure Wei is my favorite Kingdom, I cannot choose.

Always liked playing as Dian Wei - perhaps it was his big axe, maybe instead because he was usually a starting choice character, either way 9/10 the first character i would finish a DW game with given the choice is Dian Wei. In DW6 sense despite all the changes and the renbu system he remains my fave

Tough one, with so many of my rivals in Wei. Xiahou Dun gets it in a close vote. Xu Huang and Zhang Liao come in very close though.

The guys got a quick with and an attitude as sharp as that scimitar of his. He's dependable, and willing to fight in the front line for you at any moment. His hot temper gets him into trouble, like losing his eye, but at the same time he was historically skilled in diplomacy and strategy. Taking care of matters at home as well as on the battlefield for Cao Cao. I think we'd all like a relative like that.

In game, his MS is quick and fluid, but strong and direct.
S-String, C1, & C6 (DW5) are probably his best moves. In DW6 he gets a big weapon change, but although its very slow to pick up in the beginning, its unique and big on damage.

Thats a pretty big statement Fayt. And one alot of people are inclined to agree with in time I think. Even in DW6 with a weapon change, he's just that good, and WO where some of the Power types are very average characters, he's just that good.

This is difficult, hmmmm, between Xiahou Dun and Zhang Liao. Bah, Ill choose Zhang Liao.

I really like Zhang Liao, and exceptional warriors. In DW5 you seen him rise to greater height, from Dong Zhuo, Lu Bu and then Cao Cao, even in the face of death he is hoonourable and calm, unlike Lu Bu. \he has one of the best movesets ever, in DW history, and to top it off, in DW6, KOEI made him like unstoppable, great outft, great persona, grat moveset, great weapons, but, I would of prefered his DW5 voice actor, or if its the same actor, to do the same stuff.

I like Xiahou Dun, he has been a powerhouse ever since DW2, his sword combos were excellent, hi voice was excellent, but in DW6, his weapon was abismal, I found myself fighting on the horse for nearly he whole time, it is a shame sine he has such an amazing outfit in DW6

Zhang Liao for me. It was a tough decision between him, Xiahou Yuan, and Dian Wei. But overall I just enjoy playing as him and going through musou mode more as him. He's got a good VA and an interesting design.

My favorite is Cao Pi. His costume and weapons are always amazing. Especially his DW6 costume and DW5 weapon. Even though he was only in those two games. :P
But other than that he has an awesome personality. I love how he is somewhat dark and wants to outshine his father.

Other than him I'd say Zhang Liao since he went from Dong Zhou to Lu Bu to Wei and is moveset and stuff. ^_^

I would pick Xu Huang. Xu Huang moveset is nearly all the time really good at crowd clearing with his C6 move that does an earthquake in DW5. He has a very awesome costume in DW6 and I always have liked his weapon Battle Axe but i was not happy when it was removed in DW6 so my liking for him went down a little but would still be my favorite character in Wei.

I don't even have to think about this one, it's Zhang Liao without a doubt.

I think he is not just the best Wei character, but the best character in the game.

I have to agree with this entirely.

I don't like many of Wei, so wasn't a hard choice in the slightest, Zhang Liao is my favourite DW character :ph43r:

His mvoeset in the original 2-5 was simply amazing, best around IMO, then his personality in all games is just great.

Then that he hangs around with Lu Bu is just epic, I like him and Lu Bu's interactions, I remember a cutscene in DW3 where they face each other for example, and they really respect each other. Some of this also comes through from DT2 where I loved Zhang Liao's personality as well.

He was always a loyal and skilled general, and under Wei he did amazingly in He Fei. One of my favourite levels, and my favourite as Zhang Liao was DW5 He Fei, due to the fear inspired intothe enemy.

in DW6 I would still say he has one of the best movesets in the game, possibly the best, though that I cannot say.

Anyway, it was a simple, Zhang Liao, choice for me.

Wei is by far my favourite kingdom and I like so many in it but I'm going to go for Cao Cao...as much as I've love to pick Sima Yi too but I can't. He's become something of a fangirl obsession of mine and he's possibly my favourite in the game! :P

I love his movesets in both DW5 and 6, they have always been different from other sword users. I love his design too, he's gorgeous in my opinion! Heh...

I'm not even sure why I started to like him in the first place o_o maybe his ruthless but nice personality or perhaps what he fights for...

Hard choice between Pang De and Cao Ren... but I have to go with Pang de.

He has great reach, good crowd clearing abilities, and with a light orb is a very good Officer Killer.

His horse skills are almost as good as Ma Chao's. I like the Heavy Armour design as well. His personality is pretty good as well, just following the 'way of the warrior', making your enemies cringe before you.

His Musou mode is good as well, from serving ma Chao, to becoming a trusted officer of Wei, and he has the ultimate last stage. Stopping a lot of enemies from crossing over the bridge to Fan Castle.

So yeah, I hope they bring him back in later installments of the game.
