Who's your favorite Wei character of all-time?

Omniscient Strategist Posts: 1,792 Group: Moderators Member #2,636 Joined: July 17, 2006 Gender Male	Cao Cao for me, historically and in DW, RotK, etc. Dynasty Warriors wise, he always has had an effective moveset, and was unique from all the other sword wielders. This was enhanced in 6, where I find him to be one of the most effective characters to use, even when he has a low Renbu level. His personality has always been good, though 5's was a bit irritating to me due to it really only showing one side of him. 6's is a fresh take, and was quite good at capturing him in a good light for once. After him would be Xiahou Yuan and Cao Ren, neither of whom get the respect they deserve in game, unfortunately. Of course, many of my favorites aren't even playable yet(Yu Jin, Yue Jin, Li Dian, Cao Xiu, Deng Ai, etc).

That Battle ax is good in big fights and for getting enemies from around you with his regular combo. I personally have DW3 and 4. On four he's good in duels and his specials useful I haven't played three in a long time so I don't have him yet.

HAHA, nah, I sorta have a thing for older men too... sometimes men older than my dad (I haven't dated any or anything! But I do find older men attractive as well sometimes). Besides, Cao Cao isn't that old is... maybe mid 30's? He's not bad... I love his little pointy bangs on the sides of his hair and his stylish "bun-protector" as I call it... but ah, Sima Yi is has enraptured me since DW4. I liked him at first because he had such an unorthodox weapon and the way his move set flowed was just so easy and fun to use... and then I saw the purple laser beams, (OMG!) and heard his awesome evil laugh (ZOMG!)... I was sold. Plus he had the awesome helmet, which, grrr, I wish they'd give back in one of his alt. costumes later on in the series, it's just so bad ass. He's entertaining to play as because he usually has interesting quotes and I like seeing him interacting with other characters, especially Zhuge Liang. I love their rivalry... and I am amused by how much time and effort Sima Yi seems to spend trying to get the better of him... As for the historical man himself, I think he's just as amazing. I'll admit I am biased and I won't defend that his actions where or where not in the best interest of Wei (who knows), however, I find his life very interesting. I like all the speculation about whether or not he truly wanted to rule over China himself, because it can be used in the games to be interpreted however KOEI wishes. Who knows, maybe in DW7 we'll a Sima Yi who is very loyal to Cao Cao. He's always interpreted a bit differently in each adaptation, so I like seeing where it goes (even if it's not always to my liking). Zhang He is a close 2nd. Go WEI!

He's my favorite character in all of the Warriors games (That means DW, SW, & WO). Like LDZ, I was never fond of him in the early games, but with every passing game, I liked him more and more until DW5 where he became my favorite character in the franchise. I hated him in DW2 (His outfit looks so freakin' weird). He was decent in DW3 (His costume was much better but he had that squeaky voice that didn't fit him). His appearance in DW4 is where I took notice of him (He wasn't my favorite character in Wei, but I loved his VA and moveset). His DW5 self is where I took full notice and he became my favorite Wei character, then after a while my favorite character in the franchise. He was also amazing in DW6. His "I'm a great warrior, but I'm not bigheaded about it" personality really clicks with me. He's a phenomenal warrior, and while he isn't exactly humble about it, he doesn't tell it to everyone that'll listen like Lu Bu does. He was the level-headed member of that team. His moveset is one of my favorites in DW3-5, and his DW6 moveset was amazing.

I'm saying this because I've always thought and seen Koei somewhat portray them as rivals with that ''If Wei has Zhang Liao, Wu has Gan Ning!'' that seems to pop-up in most titles He Fei. They both make a major impact there.

Sure. I like Cao Pi because of, mostly, his attitude. I LOVE his whole "badass elite" persona. And his voice was always a win for me. However, I can't pick if I like his DW5 or DW6 voice better. And it was about time Zhen Ji's hubby actually became a bit less, you know, generic. >_> His weapon is always something I liked. Not to out of the ordinary but close enough to seperate him from most others. Too bad DW6 screws that up all to hell. As for how he is when it comes to gameplay, he's actually pretty good. A nice C4 and C5 attack and his JC can do some damn good damage as well. And there's a bunch of other reasons to but I just can't think of them right now...and I'm too lazy to type them. Eh, maybe I'll post my reasons for Yi later.

Skill-wise he's a good swordsman, and fine skills, though what makes me likes him is his personality. An intelligent and impressive leader, ruthless at sometime but not the 'justice justice' type. And how he could influence all of his subordinates that were totally loyal to him is another point for him

In a scale from one to ten, I'm The Awesome Posts: 1,387 Group: Members Member #9,358 Joined: August 24, 2007 Gender Male	DW3 : Xiahou Dun - Basically owns, love his movesets and looked pretty cool. First character I got used to, and personality I like his. Zhang Liao Stats wise and movesets wise, he was a favourite of mine, IMO he looked best out of the characters. DW4: Xiahou Dun - Still cool, movesets were my favourite in all warriors games, stats are killer and everything about him was my favourite. Dian Wei - Loved his movesets, pretty fun. Zhang Liao - It was then he was close to Xiahou Dun to me, liked his movesets and got used to it fast. Also liked his personality (he had just got one back then!) Xiahou Yuan- As with Dian Wei, was pretty fun to play as. DW5 Xiahou Dun - Still my favourite, though Zhang Liao got pretty close. Zhang Liao - With his new charge attack, he quickly became a mtach to Xiahou Dun, still generally, Xiahou Dun is better. Xiahou Yuan - Still pretty fun to play as. He didn't change much anyway Dian Wei - Same as Xiahou Yuan DW6 Xiahou Dun - Honestly, I didn't like most of the movesets in the game, he was an ok one in it though. Zhang Liao - Here, ONLY movestes wise, he's better than Xiahou Dun. Didn't like him looking for the path of the warriors in a sad way. Xiahou Yuan - Here, his movesets weren't favourite of mine but I really, really liked his personality, my favourite one in DW6 so far. As you see, Xiahou Dun and Zhang Liao were my favourite in most of the games in the series. Xiahou Dun is better though. Also, I only posted this detailed post because I wub Wei, know this is about the series in general but it was hard for me.

Posts: 165 Group: Members Member #17,967 Joined: September 1, 2008 Gender Male	Zhang Liao.A very honourable man,no one matches his might!A very interesting history too.Always liked his dao,it gave him very good range and power,so I was disappointed when I found out he had Pang De's old dual axes. Second is Zhang He.An eccentric,(very) misunderstood demon of war.His spear,even if it was generic,matched him perfectly.Can't wait to see how he plays with his claws back(not sure if I am to get Special,though).

But in DW6, his weapon i don't really like but his story and everything is great..... B)

I could maybe understand if they switched him to a different style sword, but his current weapon is awful. Other notable mention is Dian Wei.

He also did some awesome things for Wei. This. Actually when I first picked up the DW series Zhao Yun was my favorite and I was heavily shu-ist. I never even touched Zhang Liao or even considered him. Then I started playing the ROTK games for the PS2 and started reading the novel and histories. Then I was like..this guy is frakkin awesomeness. I love his history, his personality, his voice, everything. He's by far my favorite character, period. And he rocks that mustache.
