Been playing the game again and almost got all the abilities maxed again - it was however doing this that i noticed that i dont and never really do use ANY of the yellow abilities. In fact i usually just cram the best part of my available slots with core stat increases to health, attack, defence etc

Im not exactly sure what you are talking about. Havent played much of it lately, but abilities are attached to weapons and are not classified as health, attack and defence

Nope abilities like Karma and Cavalier - abilities are what there classified as in the original. They may have changed that in WO2 though which is why i made this topic here

Like I said, I havent played the game in a while. So sorry I finally understand what you are talking about now.

Personally I just equip what ever and dont try to equip specific ones. I dont find these abilities to be all that noticeable, so I have never worried about them.

I use the following setup for solo runs in order to maximize attack power while allowing the character to self-replenish health after mess-ups.

Standard for everyone - Impulse, Boost, Potence, Fortitude (to mitigate the insane enemy attack power on chaos), Power/Technique/Speed (whichever is appropriate for the character), Adrenalin

For those who use musou and don't have Absorb on their weapon - Refill

For those who self-replenish musou with Absorb - Conserve or Awakening, depending on whether they should decrease musou cost or crank up their attack power

If there's any room - Vitality

* * * * *

For regular team play, I drop self-replenishment abilities and include Acclaim if I'm leveling people up or farming GP.

I usually just equip all the stats enhancements (the blue ones) except for the speed one which I replace with Cavalier and the defense one with Charge.

I always have Vitality, Potence, Fortitude and Impulse on, the other 3 are usually either of the 3 catogory boosters: Power, Speed or Technique and usually Focus in the 6th slot, the 7th depends, if I wanna finish quickly for some reason then its usually Cavalier

For training & farming: Vitality, Potence, Fortitude, Impulse, Boost, Acclaim and Karma
Main Choices for fighting: Vitality, Potence, Fortitude, Impulse and Boost

The 2 other skills i equip depend on which type is dominant in my team.

2 Tecs: Technique & Refill (This gives you a good supply of musou for continous and powerful ex-attacks)
2 Speeds: Speed & Adrenaline (Speed types can easily reach high combos, so if i mess up i can regain life easily)
2 Powers: Power & Conserve (R1 reliance to break up a group, then focus on the officer)
All 3 types: Conserve & Refill (A well balanced set-up that's beneficial to all 3 types)

I find this an effective combination for each type of team, although this doens't apply to every character. I give Yoshimoto, for example, Recover and Awakening. There's no way that i'm gonna use his R1  , so i mainly keep comboing with him and when i'm in danger i use his musou, then switch out.

For speed types that consume musou, like Pang Tong, it depends whether i have Absorb equipped. If not, Refill. If they do have Absorb, I keep Adrenaline.

I found out lots of problems when managing between Abilities:

For the standard ones, Rydain said them already.

This leaves up 3 open slots (if you consider in Vitality as an standard)

One of those slots will obviously be for Character Type, which should be either Speed, Power or Technique.

The remaining slots goes for either Acclaim (when leveling) or whichiever fits better for that situation.

However, this limits me to have only one kind of character type per battle (so I can only fight with Speed, Tech or Power character teams). I already tried playing with a mixed team, but I end up using the ones with proper Type ability, because the others simply can't kill anything.

Any ideas? Or should I stick with a single type team per battle?
Photoshopping one... still hard to think on a signature without animations...

To me, I desired Impulse in my every set ups.

As for the others, I forgot what abilities are there. If someone can provide me with a list, I'd appreciate lol.

I can only remember Fortitude, Conserve, Impulse, and the one that lengthens Musou.

The rest, I forgot.
O_O

Sorry about that.

If you want a set-up for a mixed team, try this:

Vitality & Fortitude: For a defense increase.
Potence & Boost: Makes your attacks and chargesmore powerful.

These 4 abilities already makes your team more balanced. For the other 3, might i suggest:

Conserve & Refill: Extra Musou energy in battle & you spend less of it. Power types can rely more on their R1, tec types can keep ex-ing their charge attacks and speed types hardly use musou.

The last free slot you have kinda depends on the battle. You can take Impulse/Cavalier for a fast paced battle, or Recover to slowly heal in battle,...

The choice is yours.

@Encerta: Here's a list.

Blue abilities:
Vitality: Increase MAX health.
Focus: Increase MAX Musou.
Potence: Increase Attack.
Fortitude: Increase Defence.
Impulse: Increase Speed.
Cavalier: Lets you ride on a Horse from stage start. Also, Mounted Attack increases.

Red abilities:
Karma: Increase Luck
Power: Increase the attack power of Power type character specials.
Speed: Increase the attack power of Speed type character specials.
Technique: Increase the attack power of Technique character specials.
Boost: Increase the attack power of charge attacks.
Awakening: Increase the attack power of Musou attacks.

Yellow abilities
Acclaim: More EXP gain.
Recuperate: When in waiting, characters regain Musou power faster.
Conserve: Reduce Musou energy use.
Adrenalin: Every 10 combo heals you.
Recover: Heals active character.
Refill: Refills active character's Musou power.

Hope this helps :)

It really depends on what you are doing during gameplay.

Solo Runs
Rydain already covered what to equip as far as basics go, but here anyway.
Potence-Fortitude-Impulse-Boost-(Power/Speed/Tech)-Adrenaline
The last depends on your character.
Lacking defensive prowess - Vitality (most Speed types here)
Musou/R1 spammer - Refill or Conserve
Has a very slow offense with a number of defensive problems - Recover

Team Runs
Depends on the make up and what abilities they have.
For most of my team runs my setup looks like this;
Vitality-Potence-Fortitude-Impulse-Boost-Conserve-(Depends)
Recuperate - if I'm overusing a spammer like Mitsunari or Yukimura (and no Diao Chan)
Focus - If I'm using all spammers
Awakening - For those power teams with single buffs
Karma - If I'm farming
Acclaim - If I was still leveling officers
Power/Tech/Speed - When the rare times I pick an all type team.

I try to look for balance in team play. Thats why I dont really pick all of one type, I always try to go for two types at least or all 3.
