And while Cao/Tsao may be the most common known mistake, the game is actually riddled with them. A quick guide: C=Ts E=Uh A=Ah Z=J Q=Ch Ua=Ue -ian=-ien And then there's those like Taishi Ci that don't make much sense.

But if I'm using the actual Mandarin, it's Tsao Tsao. The one mistake that bothers me alot is the pronounciation of Zhuge Liang's name.

I only use Tsao because IMO Tsao Ren & Tsao Pi sound better than Cow Ren & Cow Pi. This best describes how I feel. It's like teaching a baby how to say cookie, and then when he's 6 years old say "No, it's pronounced tsookie". It's just annoying and pointless IMO. They've already dug a deep hole, there's no point trying to climb out now. If they change anyone else's names I'll be extremely pissed. I need my Taishi Chi and my Xing Kai and my Shahou Yuan. (Taishi C? Xing Sai? Giahou Yuan? Those all sound terrible.)

I agree that it would have been much simpler and less confusing for the fanbase had KOEI just got the names right from the beginning, but I do give them credit for trying to fix them, at least, if just one by one. Zhuge Liang and Sun Quan's false pronunciations still annoy me more than any other.

I think that if someone makes a mistake, they should actively try to correct it, not ignore it and act like it's right like they did before WO. It's worse because I'm used to the mistake. If you've learned how to do something the wrong way, it's a little hard to re-learn to do it the right way. Especially when there's no real incentive to do so. I couldn't imagine having/wanting to re-learn how to pronounce the names of the characters. It'd all be a waste of energy anyway, as I'd never call Sun Quan "Suhn Chuen", nor would I say other characters who have different pronounciations. I refuse to do it. I'm stubborn, I know. But I just don't see the point in it. They'll always be Cow Cow and Leeoo Bay to me.

After hearing them said a few times you would pick up on them and remember them. I just don't think it's a waste of energy to learn the correct way to do something.

Not only that, but IMO the names they have now are all much better sounding than the actual pronunciations anyway. I know you prefer Suhn Chuen to Soon Kwan, but I don't. Every name I have seen made the right way sounds worse than how they sound now, at least to me.

They know how the names sound, as proven by RotK XI's correct pronunciations, but are just too stubborn to fix them in DW. As for the correct pounounciation debate a few posts before; I'm with SnowMan. I could never pronounce Taishi Ci as anything other than Taishi Chi (even though DW6 says it like Taishi C). Same for Zhuge Liang and Sun Quan. I was never really picky about this kind of stuff anyways. (i.e. I see the name "Vladi" I say it like "Valad". Incorrect as hell, but it sounds a lot better.)
