You know, over the last year or so in particular I've noticed a massive change in game release dates.

In the past, a 6 month wait for a game to leave the US (NTSC) to EU (PAL) was not uncommon. But these days there is a near seamless transition with so many titles, with games been released within just days of each other.

I'm pretty some of the main hurdles in the past were PAL used a different resolution, and also required a number of translations for European countries (Spanish, French, Italian etc). I'm not exactly sure what has changed, but I'm bloody happy it has, I'm so over waiting forever after the US to get our hands on a game. Now more often us in PAL (EU) territories get the games around the game time, if not earlier. ^_^

Just like today, I purchased Infinite Undiscovery (by tri-Ace for 360). It was released just days ago in the US. Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria however was delayed to around a year for us PAL guys as opposed to the US date.

If anyone knows more about why it's changing feel free to let us know, or just applaud the benefit of getting games faster in PAL format, finally. ^_^

I suggest (even though they won't listen to me) they do what MGS4 did: Worldwide Release. Simple as that. Everyone gets the game and all in the span of 24 hours. ^_^

If a company with only 200 people can do that, I'm sure others can follow suit

Only real problem I see with games being released in different times through out the world, is if the game was online or had online features with leveling up system. I mean, it's unfair. Some people get the game before others, power up thier characters online (talking about online games with level up systems here) and basically pwn folks who just got the game. I think such thing happened in DWO, I never played the game but that's what heard. Guys in Japan got the game around a year before it was released world wide, alotta them got really powered up characters, when the game was released world wide it wasn't that much fun to get owned simply.

i personnaly think that the game are being release near the same date now because they put almost all the language on the game for exemple if i put my 360 in english the game is going to be in english and if i put my 360 in french the game gonna be in french and etc whit evry language ;)

I have a question, actually. Australia's main language is English, yes? Is there even a secondary language? If not, why shouldn't the english copies (the ones distributed in North America) be distributed around the same time as Australia..and I'm not saying to push them both back, I'm saying release Australia's as soon as North America gets them. England is the same..the other countries, such as France, Germany, Italy, etc..they need to be translated still, so there's a reason for it. But even still, shouldn't ALL the European translations be going on at the same time the English ones are? We'd be closer to simultaneous releases worldwide if this was happening.

Even still, there's no valid excuse or reason as to why Pure-English countries in the PAL regions need to be delayed. That's BS.

I'm guessing for AUSTRALIA its due to the overall insanity of the country.

Uh you know, the crap with censoring everything and placing massive stickers and banning games.

It's not about the language, but more to the TV standard used (NTSC/PAL). I think it took a great time in converting from NTSC to PAL, which could be why many games were delayed/not released in PAL regions...

It's a great thing that Europe has been getting games around when we do in the States. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is getting released the same week as the States (September 16th for US, September 19th for Europe, September 17th for Australia). I think gaming companies are finally seeing that Europe is a strong region for gaming, and you've gotta keep the gamers happy by getting them these games earlier. Great stuff.
