Well where do i start............ Right ok, i bought myself ROTK VII, VIII & IX and i'm having trouble playing all of them. For some reason i can't seem to get my heard round any of them and its driving me mad. Kessen and Dynasty Tactics where absolutely no problem whatsoever but ROTK's are just driving me insane. Ok so thats a tad dramatic but you get the picture. The thing is i desperately want to get into these games but just don't know where or how to start so to speak. Which out of the three that i've mentioned do you think would be the best for me to get into first and could someone possibly give me some advice about starting it and so forth. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It depends on what you want out of the game. If you want full control and the ability to guide an entire force, play IX. If you want to be an officer, take commands, and work your way up, play VIII. In IX, you'll probably want to start out as a large force in the beginning so that you can familiarize yourself with the game without getting instantly attacked in your only city. I'd reccomend Cao Cao in a post 200 AD scenario. In VII or VIII, it would probably be best to start as a high statted character so that battles and economics go quicker and easier. Zhang Liao, Zhao Yun, Xu Huang, etc. are all good choices for beginners. Though, I would reccomend X and XI. X does everything VIII does and better, while XI is a much superior game to IX. |

There are always tuts, no? VII in the Sleeping Dragon scenario as Cao Cao is super easy, you can easily complete the game with. As ZhouTai50 said, Zhang Liao and Xu Huang are very good characters to play as, I'd add Gan Ning, Wei Yan and Yan Liang too But the best one to play as is Sun Tzu (secret character, go to character creating and name your character Sun Tzu and it will have automatic stats and skills. Pretty godly if you ask me). It generally depends on the forces you like. In VII all forces have an equal chance of winning. In IX, Yuan Shao has the highest chance as he got many cities and troops when you begin. Cao Cao is good, playing as him is always fun as you fight with the strongest forces Yuan Shao though I wouldn't recommend doing that at the start. X is probably the easier in the series, I advice you to go for it first. Generally though, ROTK is one hell of a series I'm pretty sure you'll have lots of fun with it if you like strategy games. Though I do disagree with XI being better than IX, IX is my favourite in the series and it's pretty fun. |

I like the marriage system the best in XI. IX was more techinical and 'balance'(Well, I disagree with some of the officer stats in that game). My favorite Rot3k is VIII(Some things X should have kept), XI, and IX. IV memorable moment. I recommend you start Rot3k 7 first instead of X. You'll learn the basic of ruler- officer relationship, city development, and the battle system there. Then go with X(It doesn't have much detailed help tutorial than 7) or VIII for the advance officer play or play Rot3k 4 first and advance to IX for ruler play. |

Wow that was fast, unless you played multiple forces
You're doing pretty good, my first scenario was in IX too, and it took me ages. |

my advice is to create a new army and locate next to cao cao.. and first thing is to crush cao cao's army and take over his generals and city.. play the year 194, normally cao cao has only 1 city then...and if you crush him..you can take over most of his excellent generals..lol |
