Basically these group of scientist are trying to redo the "Big Bang"

and apparently they could potentially destroy the world !!

The experiment will be taking place somewher in Switzerland today later today at 08:30 GMT time :

I remember seeing them making the machine on TV. I think it was daily planet..

So when does the public get the results? I'd LOL so hard if the scientists disproved the Big Bang and the results showed God making the universe XD

lol

well we'll know exactly after 8:30 am(GMT) as it will take one billionth of a second (so for you geeks out there "1 nanosecond" lol)to get a result

so if were still alive after 8:30 am then were all good

but

there is a chance that this experiment could cause a black hole to open up o_O

and if that happens it will distort time and we will find out in about 4 years, ow and if a black hole did open it will obviously swallow up the earth and we could all be killed

but don't worry the chances of things going wrong and next to nothing =P

Yeah, heard about this a couple days ago. I guess I just have to wonder why? I mean I get the whole validation thing, but why even try it with even the slightest risk that it could kill us all?

Isn't this what people say right before things go horribly wrong and people start dying?

and apparently they could potentially destroy the world !!

So if it's potentially THAT dangerous.... then why are they going through with it??

Honestly, I didn't read the article since I can't wrap my brain around that information...

I didn't read it either, because I don't want to make myself more worry then I am right now.

I think it happened already, I'm pretty sure PST is GMT-6, and it's 7:40.

P.S. On the 3rd link, they said the end of the world is not nigh.

i heard about this a few nights ago, and i actually got fairly excited about what could actually happen...i actually heard about it on tv, through an interview with of of the physicists( ) who had been working on the project.

He said that there is pretty much no chance in the world that it can destroy the world, thats for sure, because he said that theyre only firing protons at each other...and for all those not in the know...a proton is part of what makes things...things...so they are increadibly microscopically small, and the space where the reaction will be taking place is around the same size, so even if there was a black hole, you would barely be able to see it, all you would probably see is just a black dot the size of a pin prick B)

in that interview, he also said that they might be using half of France's energy supply...i found that funny

Well we seem to still be here..

Well everyone in the UK is anyway

I dont think this will destroy the Earth because why would they do it if they know it would happen?

hmm... This is rather interesting since I've not known about it XD

I'd love to see the results of this experiment, and... who knows maybe this is one way to reach light speed?

there was no chance really anyway.

My Physics class and Teacher were talking about it today, and even had a blackhole formed it would have only lasted like a nanosecond or something, it would not have the energy to sustain its form, and would just dissapate.

but, of course nothing happened anyway.

None of you seriously believed that anything could happen, now did you?
Or that the they are trying to re-create the BIG BAAAAAANG ATTAAAAAACK?

They're just trying to create a tiny black hole, which will collapse as soon as it's destroyed. This was not even the real execution, they've just fired it up.

Heard about it all constantly on the radio today at work. Kind of scary, but no hole came and transported us to another time full of dinosaurs. A bit annoying, glad we are alive but would've loved to see something as big as the big gets.

Its in Switzerland and spans through tunnels around 15 miles long.

Still, this could be the start and we might end up doing some damage some time.
