I was looking through the topics to find Xu Zhu's and to my suprise, He didn't have one. So, I made one. I won't consider myself a big Xu Zhu fan, but from the times I've played him I have found him to be a very fun and funny (in a good way) character, I specially enjoy using his bouncy ball maneuver. His moveset is crazy, that's how I like it though. His personality is very positive to me and I admire his loyality to Cao Cao, and Friendship with Dian Wei. Xu Zhu is a very good character, now the question is to me, why didn't anyone make his topic?

Everyone forgot about him. I'd rather him be a fiercer character with an appearance like Dian Wei or Lu Bu. When I first started playing DW I couldn't believe how they depicted him. In DW6 he's pretty okay though. |

Agreed with Yosei. In the novel, Xu Zhu has been equated with Dian Wei in terms of bravery. |

hey Jandi, nice to see you around here. i'm glad KOEI kept his rolling "charge" in DW6 it's very useful for bowling folks over before an attack. and i really miss the pogo-club, it was unrealistic and sort of pointless, but it sure was fun. as i've said in the past, i AM a Xu Zhu fan, he's just so darn powerful once you get him sorted out. |

HAHA, I've never seen foomin say anything bad about a character, no matter who they are. :lol: Xu Zhu is alright, I never used him much, usually let my brother beat musou mode with him. He really cracked me up at first sight in DW3, where before one battle, he looks at Cao Cao all wide-eyed and says "Loooooord COW COW, you can't fight on an empty stomach." Or something like that... I could NEVER take him seriously after that.

OH MANJI ! go hunt around in the archives...i violently dislike DW5 versions of Guan Ping, Ling Tong and Cao Pi and ALL versions of Masamune Date and MagoMagoichi... :lol: i really do like Xu Zhu. i accidentally picked him first on DW3 and got fond of him. |

I thought all characters had a topic after I posted my Meng Huo one... guess he didn't come to mind...
 Safe to say I don't like his slow, but powerful moveset though his C3, C4 and C6 really pack a punch...  As for personallity, he has a very slow, but nice personality and his friendship with Dian Wei is a favorite of mine, in fact in my DW3 Ending after using Xu Zhu had him and Dian Wei racing for a meat bun only for to be hurled into the air and one in a DW4 Ending where Cao Cao throws a treasure box, him and Dian Wei race for the treasure box and Xu Zhu torpedos himself to the box, only for Dian Wei to land on him and catch his meat... that was funny... :lol: I like his personality as its so funny and he has some of the best character interactions another thing that makes him noteworthy...

I have to admit though, so many of Cao Cao's officers interact in ways that are familial equals with the Man (see pretty much every Wei interaction in DW6), unlike the typical fawning about virtuous values between the Shu officers and Liu Bei. So in that respect, Xu Zhu's cool. |

Yeah, Xu Zhu is not so bad. He has his own way. One thing that I don't like about him, his poor and slow movesets

I have to admit, Xu Zhu isn't such a bad character at all. People tend to overlook characters based off how they look and how they are used in games. Xu Zhu can unleash some powerful moves that can cause enemies flying and to me that is entertaining. He may not be the brightest crayon in the box but he is sure the strongest one out there with a hearty appetite in him as well. |

I prefer his depiction in the novel over his adaptation in the Koei games... I don't care that they make him huge and fat, but they really try to make him sound like... well... a slower than average kind of guy. Yes, he was strong, yes, he was brave, but he wasn't stupid, for crying out loud. Quit telling Doug Stone to act like he was dropped on the head, and anyone who writes the lines, QUIT IT. He's not hungry ALL THE DARN TIME! >_< All that sillyness aside, I adore the guy and feel for him. In lieu of Dian Wei and his one-hit wonder, he gets overshadowed and ignored by fans and Koei alike. Koei never took him seriously, never thought to give him any other view besides being the guy that Cao Cao turned to for protection when his other bodyguard died. I wish more for him... Although I'd love for him to go back to the weapon he had in the novel (it was a claymore or a huge sword, wasn't it? It's been way too long so feel free to correct me), I do think his mace fits his strength for the most part and goes well with how massively huge he is (which I wouldn't mind, if every shot of him looked like a mutated kid with the downs). He's strong, powerful, and his rolling and pogos, while on the silly side, are effective and display not only his strength but his swiftness when in combat. I think what I mean to say is that while he runs incredibly slow, his swings are a lot swifter than you'd believe and display how strong he really is to wield such a heavy weapon with ease. I do wish Koei would drop the facade of him looking some big fat jolly dumb kid, though, and display the more serious side of him that they only hint at subtly then quickly proceed to shoot themselves in the foot by having something stupid come out of his mouth or something stupid happens (like Zhang He randomly dancing in between him and Xiahou Yuan... that's NOT how you make friends, you crazy, eccentric man you!). |

Not many post about this character  Xu Zhu is a good character to play as. He is unique thats what makes him stand out from the rest. His personality is like of 10 year old kid. This character is just amazing, quite funny sometimes is well. He also looks like a bodyguard which he is. |

I actually like Xu Zhu. Of everyone with the clubs, (Hung Gai, Wei Yan, Dong Zhuo) he is just behind Wei Yan, for me anyways. My only problem with him, as in past DW games, is he is terribly stupid. I can get where KOEI gets the traits from, but he just dumber from game to game to the point you wonder how he manages to hit the right people... |

Xu Zhu needs more love from Koei! IMO the second best club moveset(after Wei Yan), and kinda nice stats. Shoot me for this but, i like his simple attitude, i dont find him retarded or stupid, i find him innocent, like a child with comments like "You are bad! Lord Cao Cao told me so!", i hope he doesnt change that much. And why the heck you need to be smart and cunning when you use a HUEG CLUB! |

I agree with you on everything except Wei Yan having the better club set. The Club is Xu Zhu's weapon and is most deadly in his hands. |

Yeah, the club fits him better since its what we've always seen of him. He dresses like a superhero and is generally quick swinging his weapon. I use to like using him in the earlier titles more, really. I liked sending peons flying over the wooden gates in the Yellow Turban Rebellion. |

still VERY fond of Xu Zhu. his DW6 MS is pretty close to his DW2-5 MS and not bad. he's great in WO, defense heavy, and very powerful. one of my favorite teams is Xu Zhu, Goemon and Meng Huo. a little slow, but with all the "winged boot" drops in WO2, it's not really an issue. i don't care for his 2nd costume in WO(he looks like a zombie), but in WO2 i LOVE his DW4 costume. the only one i liked better was the one with the furry hoody from DW4. if you are patient and level him up he is a really rewarding character to play, another of the "misfits", that i do so love. |

Really warming to this guy. I like Xu Zhu, he stood out in all the games, generally for being so dumb and large. In all honesty, I do not like how koei has given this guy the 'fat' role, no offence. Every game needs their feminine guy, hero, fatty, and muscular stereotypes, but I feel bad that Xu Zhu has had to suffer with that. If I could design Xu Zhu I would make him way better. His unintelligence is over emphasised and he looks nothing at all something to remind me 'of a tiger on the battlefield'. He needs a good make over, and that kape at the back of him, yuk  . Shame, he is undoubtedly the best club character in the game, it's so him, and I can't see him out of all the clubs being de-cloned. But still, I like this guy because I feel so sorry for him, but still, like his history.
