I don't care about gender as long as it sounds good.

No special preferences, but when I checked my playlist I found that most of it is composed my male-vocal-songs. I don't know why, probably because I'm a female XD Okay, that's pretty shallow reason, but it's just like that.

I perfer male vocals because it sounds better than female voices. All my songs are by male singers weather its metal or anything. Females sometimes might not sound as good or i just can't hear them singing.

I don't really mind if it's male or female, but looking at my library I think I lean a bit more towards the female vocals. No idea why. I notice the trend here has been that people prefer male vocals on heavy metal and rap. I'm not into either, so maybe that has something to do with it.

It can be either or for me

But it does seem harder for me to find good bands with girl vocalists

I was putting new tunes onto my iPod today, and none of the music I like recently has female vocals.
There's a few bands with female vocals in the past I've liked, but it's always the metal bands from Europe or where ever, lol.

I don't know why, I have nothing against female singers... I just think male bands/artists write better songs, I suppose.

as long as they can sing what i like(rock:P) then im fine.

Paramore(as said earlier) is a prime example of an amazing girl singer.

I hate whiny voices and I really can't stand much of anything played on the radio, haha.
I'm sort of the same, though I haven't listened to the radio for years even before my computer died and I ceased to be able to listen to internet radio.

for me it all depends on the artist, the actual song, also the style of music that he/she sings in.
Same here. There's not much in terms of music that I won't listen to, but the songs I gravitate towards vary so much depending on mood (and whether or not I'm writing and therefore have a focus playlist up) that I can't really say that I have a favourite. Same to preference for vocals. If the singer can add to the melody, then I'll enjoy it. If the singer tends to sound like (s)he's fighting against the instruments, then I'll probably delete the song without listening to the whole thing. If it whines or screams, then I give it a 'fail' and move on to the next song, but there's little else specific I can think to point out at the moment.

It is nice to see a lot of specific examples in others' personal preferences, that makes it easier to check and find out what specifically everybody actually likes listening to.

Depends. Most of the metal and rock I listen to has male vocals, but there are several bands with female vocals I love- Die Mannequin, Halestorm, Nightwish, Paramore.

I always much prefer female singers, but I much prefer the delicate playful kind. I do not really like strong voices unless it blends with the rythm of the entire music.

I think that it all depends on the genre music, heavy rock and metal bands are better with male vocals, because their style of singing is more powerful than a female singer(ie Ozzy Osbourne, David Draiman, Max Cavalera, James Hetfield, Joel O'Keeffe, Bon Scott etc). It also depends on how the singer/vocalist in question sings, 'cause I'd rather have powerful ass-kicking vocals than whiny vocals

I tend to favor female vocals more. Not that I don't like male vocals because I do like listening to Seether, Korn, AFI, and etc. I guess it depends more on the genre then the voice. :3

I tend to listen to Male vocals more, i don't know why, i just do. I generally don't like the style or songs female artists produce, not to say all female vocals are terribe, there are some bands/artists i like that have female vocals (Flyleaf, Utada Hikaru, and Evanescence to name a few) In the end it comes down to the music style, and sound itself. But i do listen to mostly male vocals.

For me the vocals don't matter as much as the lyrics. As long as the song is meaningful or relates to me in some kind of way, I don't really care if it's sung by a male or a female. Same goes for the year of the music too. I like a lot of old songs which had beautiful lyrics.

It doesn't really matters to me, male vocals or female vocals seems the same to me

But if I am really forced to choose, I'll choose female vocals. The thought of forever listening to songs sang by males only sends shivers down my spine.

I'll vote fore female..
I just feel that female voices can be both powerful, beautiful and can fit any image of song they want.
I think male voices don't have as much power...

I don't care about whether it's a girl or a guy singing. As long as the song's good in my opinion, then I'm fine. That being said, I have been getting turned off from female singers lately, only because many of them that you hear on the radio sound exactly the same to me. As of right now, to me, the male singers have a lot more variety.

I voted for Female vocalists... although I have more songs in my iPod that were sang by males....

I like the voice of Cassadee Pope of Hey Monday because it's so cute and she's a really good singer as well. I also like Avril Lavigne's voice because of, well she has a really really great voice. Other female singers I like are Katy Perry(she sings really great in some of her songs), Michelle Branch and Taylor Swift.

I also enjoy listening to a friend of mine practice her singing, she always invite me too hear her sing and then comment about her voice, she's good
