So, I'm in college and next year I'll be 20. Wanna know something? I still like to sleep with a blanky! A ratty, old pink blanket in fact. ![]() It's not something I can't possibly sleep without, but I do like to have it with me since I've moved into a dorm last year. It smells like home and I like to cover my eyes with it when I sleep (ideally I would sleep in absolute darkness given the option!). I've had it since I was a newborn and it's still an object of my affection. So now, I ask you all, to be honest, and talk about if you have your own security object, whether it is a blanket, teddy bear, or toy, etc. If you had one at one point, do you still have it? Do you like it for comfort of nostalgia? If you don't keep it around, when did you give it up? These are some questions you can consider discussing. After all, it's nothing to be ashamed about.

I used to have a blanket until I was like 12, finally got rid of the old thing though . These days I have my ring, it's the One Ring from Lord of the Rings. I feel lost without it on now . Just reminds me of the amazing people that were with me when I got it (I doubt I'll see any of them again), just puts a big smile on my face when I think about it .

Great topic idea ... Well, I've had a few: - I used to have a blanket that someone in my family made for me shortly after I was born. I kept it with me all the way until high school and the stuffing was falling out and over half of the blanket was in shreds I never wanted to get rid of it. It was the most comfortable blanket ever! - In my early years I had an obsession with a string ... A soft red string of unknown origins I used to call it my "Tie-tie" I couldn't go anywhere without this and my "blankey" mentioned above ^- These days, its my wedding ring and the necklace my wife bought me when we were dating I never take them off, except in certain rare cases. I'm obsessive-compulsive to keeping them on at all times, and if I happen to take it off (or if my wife takes it off secretly) I start to panic if I can't find them

I have five. ...I have five now. These are the big five since I've worn/used them daily since I've received them. Others have come and gone, but these are the big ones. The first three are pretty much practical - wallet, keys, and cell must go with everywhere. They have to; otherwise... well, bad things tend to happen. ![]() In terms of non-functional pieces? The first is a pendant I've worn everyday for a year; it was actually a birthday gift from one of my closest friends (whom I met online about... four years ago). My username here is the same where I met them, and the consistent factor in all of my usernames is 'Ten' (specifically, the hanzi/kanji for Sky/Heaven). So he bought my a simple silver pendant in the shape of the kanji for Ten. I wear it everyday. The other is probably my favourite gift from family; my parents, a few years ago, bought my a white gold ring with an Om on it. It's just... important to me; and indicative of my relationship with religion. |

XD great topic Manji-chan! X3 The one thing i cannot do without... hrmz... my internet? XD Nah. Its more like the items in my HDD, specifically my collection and my manga (which i d/led but I like reading them again). I cannot sleep or feel complete without it since its like a collection of my experiences. When my last hdd crashed beyond repair i held a small funeral for it. ;_; I had to restart from scratch, especially my pictorial collection (most of which cannot be found anymore since the websites are down). |

The two things I need are my ipod and my dragon necklace. I need music in my life, it lets my imagination flow and it makes me feel better, I remember once it ran out of battery, I walked home from college in silence and I felt so empty... Secondly, my dragon necklace i've had since I was about 12. I never take it off, and I absolutely cannot relax if I do, it's funny when I think about it, when i first got it the pendant came down to about my nipples and now it comes up really high. Whenever I wear it though I always feel like it's made for me... |

When I was fighting major anxiety issues during highschool because I was so sick with Celiac's Disease I was given a stuffed red chenille crab. It's the perfect size for a little travel pillow and has become something I sleep with every night. His name is Merl and he definitley goes on trips with me. I could do without him if I had to, but he's a major comfort. Unfortunately he's starting to wear out (five straight years of sleeping with me every night with do that) and his tag is in tatters so I don't know what brand he was to try and find a replacement. |

I've been sleeping with my teddy bear for as long as I can remember. It was impossible to let it go during my younger days, but when I tried to quit, everytime I tried to reach for something it would feel very weird that "object" is not there. So I just keep it there anyways. |

I started wearing my father's gold heart-shaped necklace at around the age of 2 or so. It's not something that I need to feel secure, and I could certainly live without wearing it. But it's important to me because it's sorta something to remember him by, even though there isn't much to remember. Anyway, the chain of the necklace broke about 8 years ago, but I got a new chain for it last year. Unfortunately, the ring connected to the heart broke a few months after I got the chain, so I can't connect the chain to anything now. |

I have a 'bantal busuk' (smelly pillow :P) that I cannot sleep without! it's called a smelly pillow because I've had it for 20 years! (Yes, it's older than me! :D) My grandma made it. However, there are so many rips on the pillow (which I have to sow up everytime I find one), that it's shrinking right now. It's very... 'small' now. T_T But I know I'll never find a softer pillow like that one! Also, there's my nice soft blanket I have! XD It keeps me really warm at night I can't sleep without it! XDD Oh, and I have one more thing... it's a picture of someone I know. Well, I find it very special because whenever I look at the photo I feel so calm and relaxed, especially when I'm feeling very gloomy. |

when i was younger, i used to always have to sleep with my flffy toys, they were just so comfortable i guess now my prized possessions would be my ipod and my wallet, and if i dont have them with me when i get out...i dont have anything to fidget with, and i get quite anxious, which is also a reason why i dont wear rings/bracelets/necklaces etc, because i fidget too much, i know i said i fidget with my ipod and wallet, but theyre in my pocket, so its not obvious ![]()
lol, i remember one day at school it ran out of battery, i had a free period to study...i felt so empty without it, even if i dont listen to it, just knowing that i can still listen to music is good enough

I have a stuffed Yoshi that I sleep with. I got it when I was about eight years old. It's so cute! I love it to death, and it kinda looks like this one. (Its green!)![]() I stopped sleeping with it when I got ashema. Cause they apparently collect dust. But I take my medicine and it does not bother me. It's on my behind me on my bed as I type this on my laptop. Edited by Mei Ling, Nov 6 2008, 02:00 AM.

I'm not sure if this is off-topic or not ... I am a security object for my baby at least She can't sleep unless she's being held, and she fusses less with me than anyone else. So, I've become her little security object. She can't sleep well unless Daddy is holding & bouncing her Though, a car-ride seems to have a similar effect on her

It is a great feeling, not only for that reason, but also to know that I'm helping my wife get some relief from caring for her all the time. Though, the past couple of days she's been pretty fussy and not even I can help that. So, in comes the "late-night-bath-security-object" and she's out like a light

I'm 17 and I have a blankie too, actually i've got it around me as I type. xD I've also got a little bunny teddy, both of which i openly carry around with me even with people in the house or when i'm at others houses. xD I suppose since i'm a girl I can get away with it as a cute factor while I watch my cartoons! XD I always had a blankie of some sort when I was young, I can't really sleep without holding something up to my nose, a bad habit I guess, I just don't like the feel of so much scentless air when i'm trying to sleep. && I don't know if this count, but my cat. Yep i'm one of those crazy cat people that talks to them. XD But getting that cat helped me get through depression a couple years ago through keeping me company.
