Just like what the title says. What are some things that really piss you off when you're watching a movie? I think the one thing that really pisses me off the most is when there is a rape scene. I just think it is horrible and just ruins the movie completely and it's not needed at all. I can understand for movies that mainly focus on that or a documentary, but just inserting a rape scene in an action movie is just absurd. There are other ways to show how the bad guy can inflict harm on the good guy and make him want to take revenge. Rape shouldn't be one of them. This is also the main reason why I stopped watching certain anime and Japanese movies. Another thing is when the main character of the movie commits suicide at the end. It's like the movie was for nothing. Plus I look down upon suicide greatly. It just shows that the main character is a coward and is not willing to live or face the consequences. Sacrifice is understandable in some cases, but the character is still pulling the trigger and killing himself like a coward (Sin City). Last resort or not It's still not the way to go. If you want to die like a warrior atleast have the decency to do it on the battlefield. Also things that piss me off at the theaters are when people are talking or using their cell phones during a movie. The seat kickers are the worst and people with HUGE hair or afros blocking your view even with stadium seating. What's up with commercials in movie previews? I'm sick of it. I think the most common one is when the Bad guy wins and the good guy loses. Also when the hot chick dies.

Ah, ditto, i hate rape scenes, theyre unnecesary. But my hate goes towards one single thing, the Storm Trooper effect, i mean come on...thats really frustrating and kills whatever realism remains in a movie. Also, way too unrealistic deaths(Final Destination) |

Just whenever something really cliche or predictable happens. I can't stand when I'm watching a movie and it feels like I've already seen something similar about 500 times already. As for going to the movie theater, I hate people who act disrespectful and talk to their friends (quite loudly) or ask dumb questions during the movie, especially during really important scene. Also commercials are pretty lame, but now they play random ads before the movie even starts... commercializing at it's finest! |

I hate when people bring babies. Sometimes you get idiots who bring them to even PG-13 movies, but besides that I think you shouldnt bring them to any movie, even a kids movie. The baby isnt going to understand or even know whats going on and they always cry, get a freakin baby sitter. I actually think any kid below the age of 5 should not be allowed into any movie. Kids are just so annoying. I like to go see good movies like Wall-E, but it was hard to enjoy it, when there was so many kids, practically ruin the experience. This is why I like going to midnight showings, of cource then you have a whole new set of annoyinces. As for things in movies, nothing really bugs me, except obviously a bad movie. If I go and see a movie with my mom(rare) then any sexual related scenes whatsoever will bug me, because I know my mom is offended by anything and everything and often walks out of a movie easily. She walked out of Get Smart because of the laser security beam scene

Regarding horror/suspense/etc. type movies, I despise "kill them all" scenarios, which is basically where every major/minor character except the protagonist(sometimes including him/her) gets killed off in whatever stupid way. That Alien Vs. Predator movie a few years ago was the one that made me just stop watching those kinds of movies, mainly because of that crock. The first Resident Evil flick is also guilty of this, especially because of how they killed off the awesome technician soldier. That pissed me off. |

Kaplan?? The really nice, timid, but brave soldier? I know... I really wanted him to live. It seemed kinda cheap just to ripped out of a train out of no where. But I don't really care when I lot of people die. Um.. except "Small Community Massacres". By that, I mean horror movies that take place in small towns or communities where everyone knows each other and nearly everyone is slaughtered. AVP:R, Needful Things, 30 Days of Night, and the Mist. It always kind of depresses me for some reason. Though that will never stop me from watching them over and over. |

I also hate it when there's like 1-3 people left out of like 14 in horror movies, but that's just how they are. It's the structure for horror films. It makes the movie longer by having more people killed and when there are sequels you don't have to hire the same actors or replace them. I was sort of pissed after seeing 30 Days of Night. The movie will most definitely have a sequel, but now they do not have to pay Josh Hartnett because he would have probably demanded more money to return. So instead they got rid of him... |

Actually the character dies in the graphic novel it's based off of. So it's was for a purpose, not just to save money. |

What pisses me off in movies.... Un-needed sex scenes are probably the worst. And like it was mentioned earlier, rape scenes. I hate when i'm watching a film with my parents and suddenly the speakers boom out, "Oooh, Oooh, feels good" it's just.... So, so wrong . Thankfully mum hits the 'Forward' button pretty quick XD .I think that's what I hate the most... BAD ENDINGS! When it leaves you with more questions, grrr. That just makes me angry. |

Definitely unnecessary nudity/sex scenes, that one's been discussed already Bad acting & lame dialogue in featured/highly advertised/highly anticipated films The other one that bugs me is LOUD/OBNOXIOUS fangirls ... That one alone ruined the movie I, Robot for me. During the one scene where Will Smith is showering, the entire theatre erupted into a bunch of crazed fangirl screams/shrieks/moans that lasted for nearly 15min Other than that, any movie that leaves you with the "Wait, that's it?" feeling at the end. |

PoTC 2 is very guilty of that. They cut off the movie while it was getting good and continued it with a very lousy ending. Another thing I hate are cliche timelines and no-point-what-so-ever movies other than to show somebody's boobs or bad acting. I'm glad that the mda here cuts off some of the unneeded sex scenes. One thing I absolutely hate are the laughing students during SAD scenes or DRAMATIC scenes. Totally ruins the atmosphere! |

Horror movies where everybody is killed. Case in point, I had to walk out of all the Final Destination movies, Hostel, and Saw. I do watch movies about gay love, and am dissapointed when there is no nudity...but alas. I do not like using CGI on live action people. For example, Catwoman, which was a good decent movie, despite what people say, used CGI for Halle Berry's action scenes. Very poor choice to use CGI I must say. I also do not enjoy movies where the girl is symbolized as the sex object, or has sex, or is raped or whatnot. That's why I watch some gay movies, because I can't stand how females like myself are stereotpyed in today's world. |

I'm torn on this one. Don Cheadle is one of my favorite actors ever, but I feel like Howard got screwed over. So it's an empty victory. Why does unneeded sex scenes bother everyone? It's just sex. It's no different than unnecessary dialog. Very prudish forum I am a part of. |

I've rarely seen a non-musical film burst into singing moments, unless it's in a jokey way. If you're going to a film like 'Mama Mia,' and thinking 'ergh, singing,' then.... You should look up on the film more (I'm not saying that's the film you went to see, just an example)After posting my previous post, I actually put more thought into it. I don't like needless sex in films, where it's mainly about the female actress getting some prime time by showing her 'assests.' I find those scenes (Which plauge a lot of films now days) extremely annoying, and they just put me off films. On the other hand, I don't mind 'Love making' scenes. Making love and just plain sex are different. If it's cruicial to the story, and done in a non-sleezy way, I think they really can be beautiful and romantic scenes. Saying that, I wouldn't be surprised if some guys enjoyed the former type, but that's straight men for ya (Joke... Kinda)As for rape scenes, as long as it's not overally graphic and drawn out it's ok. Not ok as such, but if it's part of the story then it is. I don't like watching rape scenes, but I can tolerate them if they're pulled off properly. Bad acting and script writting is one of the main things that ruin a film. I saw a zombie film a while back called 'Diray of the dead', well... The acting was simply horrific xD So bad it was extremely amusing. It was touched on earlier, but when big hyped up films turn out to be utter crap is annoying. The most reccent has to be 'The Happening.' My god they twisted those TV ads, the film wasn't scary in the slightest, and was just boring. |

I agree with you. I don't like the stupid singing scene like the Bollywood movies. That pisses me off. Except if it is for the background music. Edited by Grace-Zed, Fri Oct 31, 2008 10:27 am.

I really hate it in horror films when that stupid ditsy blond decides to run UP STAIRS! Instead of out the front door when she is being chased by whatever is about to kill her. Pet hate of mine that is. |

I will admit, and I know you will probably hate me for it, but I happen to be one of those people that laugh during really sad or dramatic scenes, especially if I find the acting to be either cliched or downright horrible. Not because I'm a heartless witch, but... I guess I'm just easy to get a laugh out of on certain issues and I can't help it sometimes. Of course, I try to stifle my laughs and keep them to myself (unless someone else laughs, then it's over). One time, I went with my family to see 'Titanic', and the scene where the guy falls off of the boat, hits the propellor, goes 'DING' and flips into the water, I burst out laughing. I feel bad about it now (several years later), but back then it completely ruined the mood, and I stopped taking the movie seriously after that. They did NOT need to add in the sound effect... THAT'S what set my giggles off. Sorry. I laugh at almost anything. Yes, I even giggled a little at 'Passion of the Christ'. I'm going to hell, I know it. (I can't remember what part of the movie it was, because I haven't rewatched it since) Now that I am probably on everyone's 'hate' list in regards to movie-going experience, guess I should throw in my opinions now. --- 1.) People bringing the young ones to the movies. I avoid childrens' movies like the plague; I can't tell parents not to take their kids to a childrens' movie. However, I am livid when 8 year old SOB over a few rows down is constantly screaming at his mother or father (WHO'S RIGHT NEXT TO HIM). This is why it's okay to hit your kids, parents. I fully endorse it. (Okay, I don't. That's a joke) 2.) Cliches out the butt. Okay, a few cliches are fine; I'll admit I like a few cliches myself. But whenever the movie is just one bad cliche after another, and it's NOT a satirical comedy, then it gets painful for me. 3.) M. Night Shalamalamadingdong movies as of late. They just don't interest me. I liked 'Unbreakable', and even 'Signs', but his last three movies just depress me. Especially 'The Happening'. Not only was the plot twist something that was already done before by bad b-movies that seem to plague the Sci-Fi channel these days, but it was WEAK. 4.) People who walk into the movie without ever once looking up what kind of movie they're watching. For example, I went to see 'Mama Mia', and of course, there's always a group of people that apparently miss every commercial, every advertisement, and go 'WAIT, THIS IS A MUSICAL?' Honestly, it's called research, now either deal with the singing or just read up on what you're paying for. Jeez... it's not that hard to avoid musicals, you know (especially when they're all over the previews...) 5.) Cliffhangers or 'blah' endings. Especially ones that claim to have some 'deep, psychological' impact, that apparently everyone else seems to get but me. I often want to walk to the director and ask them if they remember that an ending should probably have some kind of resolution by the end of it and if they simply forgot to put that scene back in before the final cut. 6.) This 'new age' horror flicks that are done with 'real time' camera graphics. Like 'Cloverfield' and 'Black Witch Project'. Those movies actually made me physically ill because I suffer from motion sickness. No, it's not enjoyable for me to go to a movie where it consists of the camera angles being sparatic, random, and downright painful. 'Oh no, what is that thing?! What is it?' I DUNNO, YOU WON'T HOLD THE CAMERA STILL LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO SEE IT YOU JERK! |
