I love Cloverfield but I hate first-person films too. Let's just say that Diary of the Dead was one of my worst film purchases this year.

One thing I hate specifically is dumbass dialog. Batman Begins is one of my favorite movies of all time. But Falcone is strapped to the fog light and a s Gordon is looking at the light in the sky a cop asks "What's that?" ...it's the light. From the fog light. Wow.

And again in Dark Knight, when corrupt police are being arrested a cop actually says "Have a nice trip. See you next fall". Almost makes me want to edit my own copy of the film and simply take out 2 seconds.

I haven't seen the Dark Knight yet, but hearing this depresses me. Badly written lines and cliched puns get to me too.

See Haley Berry's worst line ever in "X-Men". "You know what happens when a toad is struck by lightning? The same thing that happens to everyone else." ... I want to find whomever wrote that line and punch them in the face. Then, I want to find the editor that allowed that line to stay in the script, and punch HIM/HER in the face. And then, lastly, I want to find Ms. Berry and punch HER in the face for not looking it over and thinking 'WOW, THIS IS REALLY RETARDED LINE'.

Sorry, but that line just reeks of awfulness to me. A simple 'I KILL YOU NOW' would have be sufficient, or hell, don't say anything at all. A totally awesome scene ruined by a totally awful line... thanks. I cannot take Storm seriously anymore.

Ya, but thats how great of a movie the Dark Knight is, when I dont even remember that lame line. The movie had many great lines and was well written, but I suppose you are going to get one bad line mixed in, it should in no way ruin a movie for you though.
Same with the Storm line, I deffinitely remember that one, but I didnt really feel it was that bad. Storm is one of the best Xmen characters in the movies, and personally that line doesnt come to mind after great perfomances in X2 and X3.

One of two bad lines wont ruin a movie for me, especially if the movie is made out to be epic. I just hate movies that are filled with bad lines or are just plain stupid.

Other than that, any movie that leaves you with the "Wait, that's it?" feeling at the end.
Eurgh, I have this deja vu feeling for Hellboy II, though the ending can be considered more "WTF!?" than "Wait, that's it?".

Anyway for me, there are a couple of things that I'm going to addressed, especially concerning lots of countless US and to the lesser extent, some UK romantic-comedy movies that I can think of and High School Musical 3 and post-2000 childrens' films that are claiming to be animation of some sort for the 'family'...

1. Boy meets Girl. Girl meets Boy. Boy and Girl gets into a row and then at the end, they kissed each other with the most predictable ending that I'm going to puke by the time I finished typing. :meantongue: Examples include: Mean Girls, What Happens in Vegas and Mr. and Mrs. Smith (yes, I know the last one is not a romantic-comedy film, but you get the point).

2. Loads of 3D CGI movies that has some ugly character designs and that the effort's are subpar compared to most of the Pixar's films and the Shrek series, including the writing and the ability to reach adult audiences, in terms of suggestive themes. Examples include: Bee Movie, Hoodwinked and Space Chimps.

3. And to the High School Musical one, I'm going to put a list of why it's worse than Sweeny Todd:

  • All of the characters are somewhat two-dimensional and that none of them has a particular flaw that can be unearthed and therefore, explored in detail, despite the actors and actresses' best efforts. Thus, they're more Stepford Wives than actual human beings. Even the villainious person is not 'villain' enough to my taste.
  • The plot's very thin and has a really predictable ending that I want to vomit (see point 1). Plus, the musical numbers, like some of the genre, including Mamma Mia!, West End Story and Grease, ruins the plot advancements by some cherographed dance that takes longer to go to the next scene and by that time it ends, you'll wonder what the story is all about. Though admittedly, I think the examples that I've mentioned are better than HSM in terms of songs and dances.
  • I'm not feeling some sympathy towards the characters, thanks to the ridiculous moral dilemmas they're facing. I mean, the main character choosing either love or basketball? Oh, please. I know what he chose, like in all romantic-comedy movies.

And if any HSM fan wishes to throw a brick to my bedroom window, please don't send some flaming PMs to me, because there will be a point in a few years later that you WILL regret that HSM is the best teen movie FTW...

4. This is not considered a cliche in romantic comedy movies, but...I want to rip the film director's chair off for creating lots of multiple endings. The main culprit would be Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. One minute it ended nicely, next minute another unwelcome ending comes to me and by the next minute, it all became annoying to me of when it actually ends.

And everyone else that has previously said in previous messages.

Well, I wouldn't say that the line for Storm was SO horrendous that it ruined the entire movie experience for me. The first X-Men is still probably my absolute favorite Marvel movie film, besides Iron Man (I've always been more of a X-Men fan over Iron Man anyway). Storm's character, however, was tarnished for me, as I'd watch the later movies (no where near as great as the first) and think of that horrid line and laugh at her.

Then again, the X-Men movies just spiralled downhill and got worse with the bad lines anyway, so it's not just Storm. The third... oh, I wanted to cry at how horrible overall the movie was. Bad lines was the LEAST of its problems.

One thing I absolutely hate are the laughing students during SAD scenes or DRAMATIC scenes. Totally ruins the atmosphere!

3.) M. Night Shalamalamadingdong movies as of late. They just don't interest me. I liked 'Unbreakable', and even 'Signs', but his last three movies just depress me. Especially 'The Happening'. Not only was the plot twist something that was already done before by bad b-movies that seem to plague the Sci-Fi channel these days, but it was WEAK.
Don't forget The Village, (which was filmed around here, my aunt was an extra in the movie)

"Oh, I must go into the forbbiden woods to procure medicine for my husband as he ails on his deathbed! I cannot see anything in sight for I am blind! Oh, woe is me! My life is dreadful! I feel something...mysterious.: *gets hit by truck*

Oh Gwen Stacy, you could not save The Village from becoming what it unfortuntely is now...a pathetic, possibly cheap budget film, with no stable plot whatsoever.

I hate it

... when the main character is only made out of cheap one liners.
... when it's the same movie that was on the week before, with a different name.
... when they give away the funniest lines in the trailer.
... when it's overhyped.
... when it's made by Hollywood.
... when they use the 'it was only a dream' card.
... when they make the main character a female to show that they aren't sexist.
... when it's an adaption of a book or comic.
... when there is a sniff of Tom Cruise anywhere near it.
... when it's another dumb teen flik.
... when it's another dumb spoof teen flik.

In horror movies, whenever one of the characters acts like an idiot and says "what was that" or thinks it's someone else when its the killer
or when the trailer gives away the story

I also hate it when parents take little kids to the movies when it rated 12 or something
I remember one time i went with my Mum and brother to see "Prisoner of Azkaban"
It was after the Hippogriff was introduced in the movie
And there was this little girl, who would start crying everytime the Hippogriff wasn't on the screen
It bugged the hell out of me <_<

Just like what the title says. What are some things that really piss you off when you're watching a movie?

I think the one thing that really pisses me off the most is when there is a rape scene. I just think it is horrible and just ruins the movie completely and it's not needed at all. I can understand for movies that mainly focus on that or a documentary, but just inserting a rape scene in an action movie is just absurd. There are other ways to show how the bad guy can inflict harm on the good guy and make him want to take revenge. Rape shouldn't be one of them. This is also the main reason why I stopped watching certain anime and Japanese movies.

Another thing is when the main character of the movie commits suicide at the end. It's like the movie was for nothing. Plus I look down upon suicide greatly. It just shows that the main character is a coward and is not willing to live or face the consequences. Sacrifice is understandable in some cases, but the character is still pulling the trigger and killing himself like a coward (Sin City). Last resort or not It's still not the way to go. If you want to die like a warrior atleast have the decency to do it on the battlefield.

Also things that piss me off at the theaters are when people are talking or using their cell phones during a movie. The seat kickers are the worst and people with HUGE hair or afros blocking your view even with stadium seating. What's up with commercials in movie previews? I'm sick of it.

I think the most common one is when the Bad guy wins and the good guy loses. Also when the hot chick dies. :(
Agreed With everything.

And in Horror Movies when there is some stupid Heavy metal Song or some BS like that in the Scariest "Thrilling" Part

When Disney 'celebs' are anywhere in the movie. Or even mentioned. Or voice acting. Like Miley Cyrus voicing a character in Bolt. I shall refuse to watch that movie.

Unfitting music. Like flute music in a horror movie when someone is going to die or the building in which Spiderman is in is about to EXPLODE inside of the building, you hear pretty little flutes and soft drums. I doubt that ever happened in Spiderman, but still.

Chick flicks. And I'm a girl.

Vampires. Thanks Twilight. I love you. Sorry, I lied. Bella and Edward can die painfully and slowly.
Sorry Twilight fans. (:

Unnecessary kissy-face scenes like. in the near beginning of Iron Man I was like 'wth is this. D:<'

And when the main character has to have the stupidest and corniest lines from anyone.

And movies that say 'Best film of the year!' or 'Best film of the season!' when other movies that year/season said the same thing.

EDIT2:When movie base on big fighting game suck at the story they turn a half sibling into lover O_O

I get really pissed off when...

They take great Disney movies and make really horrible sequels afterwards.

Really bad spoofs off of other movies to try to make them into a "funny" teen movie.

Video games that turn into movies and end up being really horrible because of bad actors, characters, and lame storylines having nothing relating to the game in any way whatsoever aka Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within is a perfect example.

I hate it when a bad guy is totally not able of being beaten, and the good guy suddenly knows how to beat him, just out of nowhere. Also, the part where "Believe in your powers to beat him!" pisses me off greatly.

Kinda everything that promotes good too much. I hate happy endings! There are hardly any bad endings.

  • Excessive nudity. Yeah, I'll watch a different type of movie if I'm dire need of seeing that. It's just awkward when you're watching what seems to be decent movie with family or friends and suddenly there's an abundance of nudity. Nervous laughter fo' sho.

  • Characters that fit into stereotypical slots. It sucks to be a best friend in a horror flick. The dense love interest (read: boy toy/hot chick) has a better survival rate than you. But then what's a horror movie without excessive death? Also duh instances when characters trip when running away, especially if it's a woman with insanely large heels. Take them off when you have chance for crying out loud, you'll be able to run faster and less chance of tripping! You want to live don't you!?

  • Adaptations that stress certain minor elements of the said text while neglecting the more vital parts in a way that makes no sense. Harry Potter: POA + GOB + HBP = nuff said. Heck, in that case they see fit to make up stuff as well while still neglecting the important factors. For comic relief purposes more often than not. A swing and a miss, all the time.
[Note: There are more examples than HP, it's just that HP seems to be a very bad offender of this]

  • New age spoof films. Bad, bad, bad. Stupid, very low brow humour. I'll admit I sometimes laugh at that kind of humour [read: Family Guy] but seriously it's just bad (have I already used that word?)
Date Movie. Started out pretty funny but it didn't take long before it descended into what I like to call a pile of crap. Epic Movie was complete garbage, I honestly did not find anything really funny aside from a small segment. They appeared to be trying too hard at times. Sadly this crap remains because a very intelligent, significant portion of movie goers decide to go watch them at cinemas :)

  • Movies that are overly preachy in nature to the point where it is not very subtle. Blergh.

  • Uwe Boll.

More to come...you know, later.

Some of those i can agree with

- When everything is predictiable
- When nothing starts to make sense because of some random scene >.>
- Uneccessarry scenes
- When the plot sucks- right when you think something good is going to happen in the plot it didn't its something random and stupid :hmmm:
- Sterotyping Characters they get me so pissed >.>
- Bad acting :hmmm:
- And new actors also :hmmm: I've seen this one show(even though it isn't a movie it relates) Anyways, there used to be an older version of it and better because of the actors but the media didn't bother to re-show it because they were too lazy. :hmmm:

I cant stand them as well. I'm honestly not as bugged by them as I used to be when I found out it was a different animation studio within Disney that makes the sequals, and not their main animation department. But still, the fact that they make these ridiculous films is quite annoying.

as far as current movies go, what pisses me off the most is:

-the glorification of the "manchild"

-Will Farrel (at one time, ill admit, i didnt hate him so much), Seth Rogan, Jonah Hill or any of the Hollywood clones that resemble them in appearance or mannerisms.

-lame, predictable and unfunny "spoof" movies like Meet the Spartans and Dance Flick or anything of this type directed by the Wayans brothers.

-anything that goes overboard with crudeness and vulgarity. now, i can enjoy these things, but it becomes insulting when the creators of a particular movie think thats all i want to see.

Not only that, but its even worse when you have a parent that gets offended by anything sexually related. I went to see Get Smart with my parents last year, and my mom walks out of the movie because of the part where Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway sneak into the one house and she tares off some of her dress to be more flexable when moving through the lazer beams, and Carell looks at her butt when she bends right in front of him.

I dont plan on seeing anymore movies with her >_> unless its G rated.

Wow that's pretty extreme. I don't think I have ever walked out on a movie before. Maybe once when the fire drill went off or the projector wasn't working. My mom wouldn't care about things like sex and stuff. I actually saw a WWII film with my grandparents and this one scene was just all naked sex for 5 minutes. So awkward after the movie. BTW, Does your mom know where babies come from and stuff?

Yes, my mom is extreme and overly offended by things. But that was a rather rude comment to make. She just doesnt like seeing sexual things shown(as most people mention in this thread) and with something like that, as minor as it is, I suppose it does show some disrespect of women. I never see it that way, but some people do.

Didn't mean to be rude by it. Was just wondering why such a little thing could make someone walk up and leave. I could understand if it was something like nudity, but that scene was nothing. It's comedy, not erotica. I guess older generations do not have the same taste in movies.
