It really piss me off when people clap at the end of a movie. It's not like the people who made the movie could hear their applause. Clapping isn't needed. The first thing you do when the credits roll should be rushing out the door. So please, don't stop to clap. It is rare for people to clap? Cause it only happened to me once at the theater. The movie was Transformer 2. It amazed me that people were clapping for such a craptastic film. The wolf-whistling during a movie is annoying. It's just a little immature. You don't need to whistle every time Meagan Fox is on the screen . The same can be said about fangirls shrieking, but I never been to a movie where that happened.

Clapping?? o_O I have never known anyone to clap at the end of a film...that would scare me...x___x;;; I didn't like that film either. Something that annoys me the most when I watch a movie is when I understand something and follow it, and then suddenly like...several characters are introduced all at the same time. I just get so confused. A lot of movies have scenes where I just cannot follow at a certain point because they lost me. |

Ive experienced crowd clapping quite a lot. It will usually happen most often on opening weekends, sold out crowds, and especially the midnight first showing. Every midnight showing ive been to the clapping happens. I agree BEO, it is very stupid and annoying. My number one complaint with going to see movies, is the kids. I think basically anyone 5 and under should not be allowed to see movies in theater, even kids movies, they still wont understand them. Instead all they do is make noises, repeat lines from the movie, and kick the seat of the person in front of them. Not to mention most movies I go to there ends up being one stupid parent walking out for a bit cause their damn child is crying. Get a baby sitter or just wait to rent the movie. |

I have experienced crowd clapping thrice. Once, in Narnia, at the end. That was cause it was a theater full of kids who seemed to be on a field trip. Second time at the end of POTC 2, when Barbosa came down the stairs (gots to say, that was a pretty awesome moment) and third time was when i watched Avatar, the end. and there were a few times during Bourne Ultimatum people clapped in amusement. I dont mind the clapping, I enjoy it. What I hate in movies are the love scenes that are drawn out far too long, like in the middle of a epic battle then...cue the romantic soft music and have girl and boy star eta each other for 20 minutes....like, seriously...we don't have time for this. Also, when animals die. Makes me sad. |

Hmm well here are things that piss me off: When the story is so predictable and you just know whats gunna happen and nothing shocks you or amzing you and it's just completely crap. Especially when it's in the cinema and theres some annoying dude complaining the whole way through about it(dad) Murder/horror films that are basically teaching all the weirdos out there how to kill someone and get away with it, i'm sorry but WTF?!?! Pointless sex scenes, they can ruin a movie so much when you're just watching a good movie and they add an arkward sex scene In films where there is a badass guy as the main guy and then kill of his sweet wife/girlfriend to make him mad, why? Comedies that try too hard When animals die, it upsets me much more than when poeple die, i don't like it Disney films that do the whole no the heros dead wait no hes alive YEEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH what a load of bull sh*T Rape, suicides or anything sick and discustingly awful like that, no need TOM CRUISE............. Movies of games, they are always so so so bad, with really bad acting, hopefully the prince of persia doesn't suffer the same fate And finally films where children get molested, or murdered or anything like that, it's just too horrible to bear............. |

Clapping and whistling. I remember the crowd clapping at the end of 2012 and whistling when the russian showed the middle finger to the baron. Ugh... I absolutely abhor this and the people who do it. Children who ask unnecessary questions and who ruin the movie. I agree with Totoro on the age limit point. Unnecessary and long sex scenes as well as any scene portraying an abusive crime like rape or gory murders. I also hate movies starring Brad Pitt... don't know why though. |

I can't stand movies that make no sense i watched the butterfly effect 2 the other night at first it takes a final destination approch when a guy tries to stop his friends from being killed which he fails with and keeps getting headaches which leap him back and forth in time and in the end he kills himself to stop his last remaining friend who he breaks up with from doing so herself. That had me scratching my head in confusion for ages thinking what the heck was that about? even when i read about it on wikipedia it still made no sense to me what so ever

I hate it when you can predict the rest of the movie. I feel like they stole my time. Why should I sit there and watch till the end then. Strangely I wasn't pissed of in Avatar. Guess it was the atmosphere and despite knowing what happens I wanted to know how it does. |

Characters obviously doing things that are gonna kill them, but they do it anyways cause there "curious". When girl characters get killed. Something about it shocks me. Extra dumb characters who aren't really "dumb". They just act rediculously irrational and idiotic. And they say the most rediculous things, that make u wanna slap their lips inside out! GAH Thats so annoying. Also when the black person dies first! LOL

When person A wants to say something important to person B but then person B gets a phone call. I find it lame Another thing is that when the same situation keeps repeating And dumb people that keep falling for the villian's tricks and still trusts the villian even after they found out about it And sometimes....... When the villian loses Don't ask me why cause I don't know either.

In the cinema, I get pissed when some dumb asses keep talking out loud behind my back. Especially those using foul language (bunch of punks sitting in a line). In the movie itself, I get pissed when there are sequels, which only come out years later when I've long forgotten it. ![]() I get pissed when the story isn't going anywhere (extremely slow plots without anything significant). I get pissed when the characters talk like they're gonna sleep. (Twilight) Lastly, I get annoyed when I'm not satisfied with the ending. E.g. Avatar. I hated the ending a lot, to the point of when the credits started to roll, I exclaimed to my friend sitting next to me, 'WTF is this sh1t!? Edited by Saint, Wed Mar 24, 2010 12:20 pm.

Reading this thread makes me glad I watch things at home I don't mind a bit of cliché or being able to guess the ending. If I watch a romance, for example, chances are that the ending will have the couple get together with a possibility that instead, something tragic will prevent them. There will be kisses somewhere and some arguments, maybe somebody disapproving of the relationship. It's like watching a Shakespeare play/film, if everything is good enough (the story, the actors and the dialogue), I can ignore that and ignore any cliché lines and enjoy myself. It only is an issue if the film is bad and that tends to be for multiple reasons Anyway my hates: 1) Injections. Always hated them, have to turn away till it's over 2) Homophobia/racism and even if it proves necessary to the film and is very well handled, it does effect my enjoyment. 3) A hero/ine that is good that the light shines out of their eyes and their ears, they have a halo and angels come to sing their praises. I know the flawed goodie is a bit of a cliché but better to have a character with some depth then a saint. Oddly enough, fine with pure evil villains 4) A film with an overriding message. I may be in favour of what the message says but, unless watching a documentary film, I don't want it shoved down my throat. I came to be entertained/scared, not to be lectured thank you 5) Blatant or several Dues Ex Machina (sp?). Surely the point of writing the story is to come up with something that didn't resort to cheating? 6) Bodily functions/vomit jokes. Or anything where they try to gross the audience out 7) Badly done sex/nudity/swearing/violence/gore or when done for the sake of it. There is, in films, books and games, room for such things and I am willing to say that authors/directors/game makers should be allowed to reflect society and include such things as rape, suicide, drugs but only if done maturely . When done right, while I will always find rape scenes a little uncomfortable, it can add to the story and just fits in so nicely. When done badly or simply for the sake of it, it jarrs badly for me and disrupts my enjoyment. For example, Hitman includes one nude scene but it jarrs so badly with the film, seems somewhat out of character and out of place, as if the director had just decided that he wanted a nude scene. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind may have had no nudity but one or two more risqué moments but it felt right when the characters did those things, it fitted into the story and was well acted. |

The first thing that annoy me in movies is the death of the main characters, why watch a movie and get excited that everything will end well as he would die a sudden illness, or commit suicide . Like in "I am legend".The second thing is rape scenes, I hate them. The third thing is racism, we live in a free world, so what do these movies where you show how to kill for example Jews.

You guys up there are pissed about people clapping? You guys got it tame. I HATE it when I wind up in a theater that's gonna treat the movie like a freakin' sitcom. Don't know what I mean? When a funny line is said, everyone laughs. Fine. When an "awesome" line is said, everyone claps. Tolerable, if the line is followed by a slight break. Sometimes it's not, and people clap anyway, which results in me not being able to hear the rest of the scene. During an action sequence, all the guys starting cheering like crazy, as though it were a football game. Yeah, I understand the excitement, but can ya tone it down a bit? I can't freakin' hear. But the worst is when 2 characters kiss, and all the girls swoon with there "Ooh!"s and start clapping. Um, what the F**K are you doing?! |

Your not the first to complain about character death's. To be honest, I don't understand why that annoys people. It is a literary device that has been used throughout the ages in books, ballads and plays, including some of the great love stories (Romeo and Juliet, Tristan and Isolde, Orpheus and Eurydice for old examples). Even in old religious tales, Gods sometimes died as well as heroes. Death still retains some mystery, what happens afterwards to them, do they meet their loved ones? Death can have a great effect on the survivors and, it seems to me, to be (when done right), one of the best ways for an entertainer to pull at a person's heart and to produce tears. A character's death, if not at the end, can affect other characters. As well as seeing the usual reactions, it can inspire someone, change their life around or it can destroy them, breaking their hearts, sending them into a spiral. As well as the set up, the death itself can have a great effect on the audience, though probably those that die at or near the end are going to be more touching. As for at the end of films, we have watched someone's tale (or several peoples), they can not all end happily. We have perhaps rooted for a couple, hoped someone might be redeemed or that they realized something, whatever it is but if the film has done it right, then we have cared for him/her/them. A death at the end shouldn't change that experience, those feelings, it shouldn't make what you watched any less worthwhile. If you cared or enjoyed yourself, that shouldn't end up being invalidated due to character death. I don't think Romeo&Juliet is any less sweet for their tragic end, quite possibly it is strengthened by that sadness for what happens. Death in films can bring a wide range of emotions, depending on character and circumstance: Sadness tinged with happiness, tears, regret, relief, probably everything bar laughter. It can redeem, it can horrify, it can do so many things For me, some of the great moments I have played, read or watched have involved death taking away a character I loved. Perhaps I have loved that character over several books/games but I don't regret that, I had enjoyed the tale they had taken me through. Their time had come to a, usually sad, close and they bowed out, leaving sad but good memories. It also makes those moments where it ends happily for someone so much sweeter. Do I wish a character had survived sometimes? Yes, I'm only human. |

If a character's death is justified, it doesn't bother me so much, but when it's plain to see that they died only to either fill a quota (what I like to call cast thinning) or simply to add shock value, then I start to get annoyed. So long as its justified and there is simply no other way to end the movie or story, it doesn't bother me so much. Even if it's my favorite characters, as long as there's a deeper reason to it. |

The Boy In Striped Pajamas has a sad ending as well. On topic: I really dislike when the main villian of the movie gets killed extremely easy by the protagonist or when the protagonist wins by a stroke of luck...it's like...why waste so much time developing background on the movie when it ends to suddenly. It ruins the experience for me. |

Haha that happens damn lots of times! If I were the villain, I'd have shot the hero's head at the first opportunity. But no, they tend to talk about their plans (TL;DR!) when they're pointing the gun at the hero. Lol. Sometimes they let go the hero alive so that he can 'come back stronger to fight them again'. What a BS!
