Fantastic game! If you're a fan of NA, RoTK or strategy games in general, you've got to play this. If they release it in the UK or your PS2 can play a US version, don't pass it up.

The game is very well balanced, easy to learn, but tough to master, and the scenarios provide you with as many power levels as you can have. The first three starting scenarios pretty much have a level playing field for everyone, but with different forces having different strengths/weaknesses. And the other starting two scenarios have a couple forces being about 5 times the size of others, giving you the option to see how fast you can sweep through the islands, or pick one of the Davids and try to defeat the Goliaths.

If you get the game or you're just starting out. I recommend doing one or two games on local mode first. The unification mode can be overwhelming with the sheer number of opposing forces and possibly time-wasting if you play for hours only to reach a no-way-out situation because you didn’t plan well.

There’s no speech whatsoever in the game, but the music is fantastically composed, so battles are exciting and peaceful times serene even without voices.

It can be very slow at the beginning when you’re waiting for time to pass as your officers carry out orders. It would be nice to let the game do its thing while you go do something for a couple minutes during this waiting time, but there’s no option to automatically stop the game when an officer finishes his job or when a ronin wanders into your territory.

Even on easy mode the game is challenging, so it’s not for children, that’s for sure. You’re definitely in for a lot of time spent on this jewel.

Yeah, keeping my fingers crossed for a UK release. If it does happen, it'd probably be like RTK XI, where it was only released in the UK when it was ported to PC.

I really hope RTK XI wasn't just a one-off for Koei. I wouldn't mind actually getting to play this, as these games are brilliant in my opinion, and it's almost life-threatningly depressing to see how few of them have been released here.

I've bought the game and I like it. Similar to ROTKXI but different enough. It takes some time to get used to the action phase playing wihtout stopping.
I have a question though. Is it normal that I unlock Takauji Ashikaga every time I go to the character create menu? I have 4 of him.

It's a glitch in the game that makes it think you unlock the secret characters each time you go to the Officer Edit menu.

It's hard to play this.... Especially to manage revenue income per-season...

The game is fun to play, its just like the first one: simple controls, easy to manage revenue and is easy to manage troops and officers.

Well Ryu, it's easy to manage troops and officers THIS time. ;)
(I found the battle system of NA: Rise to Power was a little weird. :/ )

I am in love with this game, it's amazing really, another great score from Shibusawa as usual. The new turns system is awesome even though I think the battles in both ROTK XI and NA: Rise to Power was a little better.

My only complaint is the unbalaced stipends system, to raise an officer's loyality, you have to RAISE his salary. I prefered the old "pay a 100 gold once" system but I understand that the old system would be abused with the new turns system though. Still , it makes it a lot harder to manage revenue, limiting you a lot if your forces didn't have much cities.

So guys, anyone unlocked these special tactics? I want to make a list for referances if anyone unlocked some they can share it here. I unlocked some and looked at other forums (mainly KOEI.com, credits go to bandekar there), here's a list:

Infantry:

Assault: Dosetsu Tachibana , Yoshitsugu Otani
Menace : Hideyoshi Hashiba
Skewer: Yoshiteru Ashikage

Cavalry:

Pincer: Shingen Takeda
Trample: Yukimura Sanada , Toshimasu Maeda , Tadakatsu Honda
Rampage : Kenshin Uesugi , Kageketsu Uesugi

Muskets:

Barrage: Yoshihiro Shimazu
Bombard: Masamune Date , Shigehide Suzuki
Salvo : Nobunaga Oda , Ujisato Gamo

Strategy:

Stampade : Masayuki Sanada , Yoshitaka Kuroda
Heal: Shigeharu Takenaka , Ieyasu Tokugawa

Anyone cares to add some? =)

This game is really hard to find! For me at least, no copies on Ebay and limited on Amazon... Is it worth it? I already have Rise to Power and love that game, but recently I've been getting a case of 'Sengoku fever' from SB3/SW3. Thinking of maybe buying this, is this much different from Rise to Power or should I just wait until NA13 is translated??

DarkDante: Yes, this is a good deal different from RtP and in my opinion better in most respects. I would strongly suggest to get it if possible. I personally had huge trouble finding it too, finally having to ride my bike a good twenty-some-odd miles or so to a Gamestop that had one copy left.

Found that Hojo Ujiyasu has Skewer, and Akechi Mitsuhide has one of the musket tactics.

Cool Seraphil, thanks, this is the updated list

---Mitsuhide has one Musket tactic----

Strategy
Stampede: Hojo Soun (S) , Kuroda Yoshitaka (S), Sanada Masayuki (S)
Heal: Takenaka Shigeharu (S), Tokugawa Ieyasu (A)

Bow
Fussilade: Mouri Motonori (S) , Motoharu Kikkawa (S).

Had a mistake with the previous one, as both Muneyoshi and Sekishusai are the same person
Mitsuhide probably has Salvo if he has one of the musket tactics, I think no tactic will be taken by more than 3 characters, so it's probably either Salvo or Barrage, Salvo sounds like an Oda tactic to me. I don't play NA these days but I'll still keep an eye if I see more tactics =)
