Cheng Du is either a minor battle or a full scale war depending on which version you play... DW3: Boring... Luo Castle wasn't even in the game... DW4: The conquest of Shu is a nice touch, Ma Chao appears to help Liu Zhang, the fact you had to alternate between attacking at Mian Zhu forest or the bottem routes was good to plus forcing Liu Zhang to surrender... But that isn't why Cheng Du is a favorite of mine... when you compare it to the Kingdom Battle, you have to capture Luo Castle and then you have to charge into a forest filled with ambushes (also Guan Yu), Ma Chao comes out of nowhere at Luo Castle and Zhang Fei or Zhang Bao at the bridges... other touches include Wei Yan's defection, now if only Huang Zhong was in the stage then we would have a complete Tiger General roster... DW5: Better then DW3, but the map is still not big enough... DW6: Huge map, getting between areas isn't as easy and enemy resistance is big... quite a challenging stage... So what do you think of Cheng Du as a stage throughout the series... |

DW3: Well I'm bias when it comes to comparing DW3 to the others... I loved the funny voice acting and scenes here. Also I can remember getting the Hex Mark saddle. DW4: A much bigger map and a bigger maze. Though the mazes are always simple to get through, all you have to do is follow your units. Ma Chao's cutscene is very cool, both him entering as reinforcements from a hill scene, and you capturing him. Pang De also makes the stage more difficult by appearing in a little zone outside Liu Bei. DW5: Zhao Yun! Even he could not persuade forces to join Liu Bei in his cutscene... also I enjoy Liu Bei's march quote when Pang Tong's death occurs. His voice actor always inspires me, in particular when used with changing music. DW6: Big map and... Ma Chao's forces are approaching with great speed from Liang. I like how the quote highlights this and gives him some recognition. Plus of course the new map design being probably my favorite thanks to the new engine. Pang Tong's pathway is dangerous and there is a load of twists and turns in the valleys throughout the course. |

I really hate this stage in all the games. DW4: Not bad map since it easy to navigate through but didn't like the map still since I remember getting killed off by Yue Ying and her juggernauts with Zhu Rong the one time when I was almost done with the stage. >_> DW5: Boring map, the only thing that was memorable was the cutscene between Huang Zhong and Yan Yan. DW6: I HATE THIS MAP since I had on numerous occasions found myself going around in circle trying to get from one base to another. I even ended up in the river a few times getting stuck in a dead end. I blame the maps for being too damn small half the time to see even with the little green arrow. >_> |

I can only give two opinions since my DW3 is broken and DW6. (Hoping to get DW6 probably this month) DW4: I just noticed you guys did only one Cheng Du. There are two Cheng Du's in DW4. So I'll start with the Liu Zhang one first. I'm impressed with the battle. The ambush and Ma Chao appearing surprises me. Especially in a disadvantage stage. 9/10DW5: Meh, just plain and simple. This stage is really long and boring though. Especially what I hate is Pang Tong being stuck by an arrow. 5/10 My rating is: Not Bad |
| My thoughts are pointing to such a violent world. | |

DW4: Only version where you can make Liu Zhang surrender I believe. And only version of Cheng Du I remember sadly, sorry ! As far as I remember it was fun and memorable stage with intermediate difficulty. Gotta get further on DW4-Hyper and I can come comment back on later. I played this stage last time LONG ago, only got Hyper back awhile ago. DW5: Boring. The stage layout is nice though. Pang Tong getting arrow to his bum (It damn looks like it) is looking quite amusing but the cutscene and Liu Bei's line after is memorable. Storywise good, gameplay wise plain. Easiest Hex Mark obtaining of the series. Oh, and I think it was for someones weapon when you had to surround the castle.. I had for some reason so enormous trouble getting this event to trigger that I remember clear frustration over it. If I don't remember wrong my troops just sometimes stopped moving to the objectives and I was just completely confuzzled what I was supposed to do other than destroy everything to get the event happen. Weird. DW6: I damn loved this stage. Sure it's big as heck but it's for once a DW6 mission where there happens alot ! Archer ambush at the northern area, rockfall too, Pang Tong ambushed is very well shown, forces popping up from nowhere and when ya thought that's all you get Ma Chao after you. Truly one of my most favourite and challenging stages I had before I got a fast horse ! On a downside, I wish you could trigger the archer amsbush on Pang Tong YOURSELF. Even if you move to the ambush location yourself it doesn't happen until Pang Tong gets there. And ofc you get then magical troops all around you so.. It feels silly. EDIT: Another downside is that I felt this map was extremely difficult to navigate and it felt always like you had to take a freakishy long road to reach from one side to the other if you had to move around. As said, without fast horse, you're doomed. Without horse your best bet imo would be to either move through the gates or with Pang Tong and ignore the whole rest of the stage happenings.
