I'm thinking they say over 35 to make it sound like a lot. If there was 40 or above they would say 40+ as it sounds more. So the most in my eyes there will be 36-39 playable characters. So if they keep Goemon out that would be the 39. I also wouldn't mind them making Kojiro and Musashi NPC's and make them almost like the Zuo Ci, Nu Wa or Fu Xi of the SW series. (Extra characters included for fun) That way they could replace them with 2 more characters. One could be Matsu maeda or another female and the other could be Naomasa Li or Tadaoki Hosokawa (to make Gracia's story amazing :D) That would be the ideal cast in my eyes. Eitherway I think Noh, Ranmaru and Katsuie are 99% safe. Noh couldn't be cut when Nene (a much more boring wife) has been included. Ranmaru is just practially attached to Nobunaga. The Oda would feel really empty without him.. Besides if Motonari is really included then I highly doubt Ranmaru would be gone. Katsuie is just too important and powerful to be cut. I would love him to have more interaction with Oichi this time round though... I think Motochika depends on what stages are added. I also think Gracia is the most important when it comes to this topic because what characters get cut and how many get cut depends on what Koei do with her. Whether she gets included relies on whether she is given her historical story (which would be amazing). (However Koei could just stay with a made up story) If there is going to be just 1 character to be cut then I predict it will be Gracia (or a very slight chance of Motochika being cut) If there is two or more cuts then Kojiro and Musashi are gone in my eyes. (That is if Goemon really isn't returning; highly doubt he will return) Edited by Mooglez, Sep 29 2009, 06:07 PM.

And Okuni has already been confirmed to have story, and she's on the Musou mode character select wheel this time.

Musashi and Kojiro may be cut and brought back in SW 3 XL, only if it is in fact made. I know that it is odd that Musashi would be cut after becoming a normal character, but that is what i feel would happen. He just didn't affect the story enough.

Musashi and Kojiro had basically their own story where they just fought each other during the main battles. It was like they just got in the way of the main story. Gracia was with Magoichi, Yoshimoto was, well Yoshimoto, (Don't really know how else to describe it) Okuni, she lost her story after Goemon got cut because it was Keiji and Goemon competing for her affection, Ranmaru was involved with Nobunaga because he was a bodyguard, Noh was Nobunaga's wife, Nene was Hideyoshi's wife, I understand Motochika because he ended up just joining the Toyotomi, as did everyone else. So if anything, some characters may just be cut from Musou Mode and made Free mode only.

Koei is a japanese company so they mostly(maybe even only) listen to their japanese fans. And I have to admit,from what I've gathered Gracia is actually really quite popular among the japanese fanbase. Nene too. Ideally, I'd like Yoshimoto to be really goofy and boisterous in peacetime and non-battle cutscenes, but in-battle he'd be serious and calculating. Sort of a dual nature for him. But Koei's only shown interest in portraying the former.

So we can really only discuss our hopes and dreams. KOEI has already est the characters in stone, and unless they delay the game again, we can only sit back and accept what they give us, but they better give us some good stuff.

Imagine if Sima Yi was doing handstands while laying out his plans...something like that I could see Yoshimoto addressing his officers on his plans for the future and how he will destroy the Oda...all while playing with his Kemari and laughing about it...kinda creepy.... Still, I don't think any character will be cut at this point, and every character will have a musou mode again. I'm just wondering how in depth the stories will be for each character. Will they all have in depth stories (ala SW1) or will only a few have in depth stories while some have crappy stories again (ala SW2)? I have to admit though, those characters that received good stories in SW2 (Mitsuhide, Magoichi, Toshiie, etc) had some of the very best in the Warriors franchise. I'd like KOEI to put that kind of effort into every story.
