LOL!!!  Nene's middle name is "revealing"! Her outfit is really cool and you can find just about everything you need to make it with ease (easier than other characters that is), but what about Kunoichi? Less revealing in some areas of the body, as opposed to Nene  ...And you get to wear that cool hat and keep all of your hair  Actually, now that I think about it, you would have to be cool with showing off 360° lower chest and lower back.I vaguely remember your Yue Ying cosplay, but didn't you show off enough leg-ness in that? 
He would be a huge star! All of the Japanese women would love him to death  I have seen some Mitsunari female cosplayers. I can't explain it, but it would seem they are in the same boat as you. Their cosplay outfits were great too! Kanemitsu, would you attempt to create his sword too? |

Its about flattening it with Bryll cream and pinning it down properly. I could stick my hair into my Heero wig... but then again, my hair is layered so it wasn't much of a problem. ^^;;;; |

I actually really really like Okuni's outfit for SW2, it may look a tad overdone, but it looks really quite pretty...I would even wear it if I didnt care about getting overly humiliated

If I ever have a chance to cosplay I will probably go as Gan Ning from Dynasty Warriors 4. I doubt I could pull off the whole shirtless look because of my hairyness and the vest looks cooler in my opinion. I doubt I will ever do it though. Other Non-KOEI characters I would cosplay: Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes (Doubtful) Gene from God Hand (Maybe) Strider Hein or Strider Hiryu from Strider series (Probably the easiest for me) Chipp Zanuff from Guilty Gear (Maybe) Vash from Trigun (Hard) Lupin the Third (Possible) Speed Racer (Definitely possible) |

Ditto! As someone here already knows, DW5 Ma Chao has been my dream cosplay for years. I just love his clothes, they're stylish, graceful and martial at the same time, his beautiful dragon helmet being the icing on the cake (I thought his DW4 helmet was amazing and still like it a lot, but the DW5 one beat it). To choose something more up-to-date, I'd like to cosplay as DW6 Ling Tong or Lu Meng. They're among my favourite characters, besides I wouldn't even need a wig XD. Oh, and DW6 Zhao Yun would be a dream too. Beautiful armour, but quite difficult. Or again Ma Chao (DW6 Ma Chao. Not as spectacular as his previous one, but still nice). Well, I'd like to wear also other DW costumes, most of them are so beautiful! Unfortunately I think it will remain a dream *slaps face and wakes from her dreams*. |

My dream is to actually make ANY KOEI costume. My mother used to be an amazing seamstress but after back-surgery she can no longer put in the hours to help me out--and her machine is picky (seriously like she's the only one it'll cooperate for). On top of that--I lack the resources, time, money and supplies. Our house is almost 100 years old and in order to just stay WARM this winter all the sewing efforts are going into making heavy curtains that will keep the drafts out. I'd love to do the concept art SSX from DW2. I fell in love with her from start and I've always wanted to cosplay that outfit (probably with the sword instead of her sun and moon rings too). Idealistically I'd like to have an entire set of SSX from 1-6 and beyond (except maybe 5 it's an ugly outfit compared to the rest). |

Great topic, Manji ^^ In fact, I'd love to cosplay a lot of characters but my physique is so bad & I'm not talented at all to make costumes >_< I've a lot of Dream Cosplay like : Xing Cai DW5,WOAlt1&Alt2, Sun Shang Xiang DW6,DW6Alt,RotKOnline&DWSF, Diao Chan DW5,DW5Alt&DW6, Da Qiao/Xiao Qiao DW5&DW6, Gracia SW2XL&WOAlt, Kunoichi, Okuni SW&SW2, Ina SWXL&WOAlt, Joan of Arc BS, Karen BS, BS Female Mercenary, Nouhime KessenIII, Nu Wa DW3&WO2, Da Ji, Himiko & many others KOEI girls... but some of their costumes are too sexy or I'm too tall to cosplay those characters or their armour/costumes/weapons seems very hard to make >_< By the way, maybe I should try to cosplay KOEI men to resolve "sexy" & "tall" difficulties but costumes making difficulty is still here XD Male characters, I'd like to try cosplay : Zhou Yu DW4,DW5&DW6, Liu Bei DW5,DW6&DWSF, Jiang Wei DW5, Ling Tong DW5, Zhao Yun DW6, Azai Nagamasa, Ishida Mitsunari SW2&WOAlt, Akechi Mitsuhide SW2, Naoe Kanetsugu, & Minamoto no Yoshitsune WO2&WOAlt2 lol what a big list! I would to love to cosplay as Sun Shang Xiang from DW5 only because I could get away with her hairstyle and I would definitely be comfortable in her clothes too. As far as any of the males go, I could so pull off Sun Quan in DW6 since we have the same similar hairstyle too plus he is super sexy.  And from Samurai Warriors, definitely Oichi, again because of her hairstyle being the easiest to go by for me. I can't really say that I would cosplay as any of men from SW because I really can't think of any of them that would be good for me. XD |

I honestly can't think of anyone from koei games I'd like to cosplay. I don't think I'd wanna cosplay a guy, and not all that fond of many of the females. I suppose I'd have to pic Xiao Qiao if only for her association to Zhou Yu.  DW5 outfit probably... It's the most palatable of her wardrobe. ^^; Although it might be interesting to try Yue Ying. Wishful thinking either way. Cosplay is just way too expensive >< |

@Kittn: I really wouldn't call it that expensive to be honest. I spent around $200 maybe on my first cosplay, and that's because I was inexperienced and bought like twice as much fabric as I really needed, plus other materials I didn't end up using, haha. You can be really practical about it. I bought the boots and gloves I used at thrift stores and they were like $6 a pair, can't beat that. It's just about using your resources wisely.

O_o unfortunately if you're going to buy you're going to pay a hefty price tag...or get a crappy costume (9 times out of 10 here). Usually if the costume is any GOOD it was made be either a dedicated cosplayer who loves their costume but has moved on/made better versions and knows how valuable really good costumes are...so they won't let them go cheap. Of course you have to hope that person is your size too. If they're affordable then it seems they're mass produced, are made ENTIRELY of satin (dear GOD people stop using it in your costumes! NO ONE IS THAT SHINY! [Bridal Satin is excluded in this]) and are super baggy/don't fit because they had to base it off of measurements and couldn't possibly get you in for a fitting. My advice? Make really good friends with a good cosplayer and offer to trade some other service/item if you can't afford cash, or look for someone who'se into stage production (especially college kids) who might want to make some money on the side, but aren't pretentious. (Or maybe you can tutor if you're strong in a subject they're not). Edit: Manji: You can get ANY amount of hair to fit under a proper wig. As someone said before, slick and pinning and WIG CAPS. They exist for a reason! Kuni: The wig tutorial is really valuable for me. These days I'm doing characters whose hair resembles mine or whose head/scalp is covered, wigs give me so much grief! I've got incredibly dense hair that grows really fast, and is really rigid and spiny |

Ahaha, speaking of wigs... you know I bought a plastic wig for my YY cosplay, and I uh.... tried to straighten it with a hair straightener (omg, so stupid, NEVER try this!). Well, it melted the plastic immediately, luckily I noticed, but there was still a rectangular patch of frazzled hair in the back of my wig. Still noticeable up close. >_< Thankfully it didn't discolor though, so it wasn't too bad. I just felt like a major idiot. Should be common sense to not add heat to plastic, but truth be told, I had no idea what wigs where made out of.  Thanks for the site, Kuni! Edited by Manji, Feb 4 2009, 01:53 AM.

Glad it was helpful! Her wigs are really inspiring too if you look at the gallery. Sometimes the notes under the pictures will give you insight on how to build something tricky! If you have someone in mind (though only Sun Ce and Zhang He are in her gallery) it might already BE there with some helpful notes. O_o mircowave....legos? That's a new one. |
