This thread is probably considered a pointless one lol, but Im bored & felt the need to post it anyway. Last thread I made I was talkin about how I was excited about samurai warriors 2 and I knew a lil tid bit about it, but not much until I came to this site by doing a search on google.com and read how much more improved the new Samurai Warriors will be compared to the first one. Anyway I thought it was funny how my friend who loves these type of games as well comes over tonight and he was already interested in Samurai Warriors 2 so I decided to show him this site with all the information about SM 2. I showed him the characters, he was pleased, then showed him a video forgot which character but it was one he wanted to see and he flipped out suprised how cool it was the fact the guy did like 3 special moves and things that they've never had in any dynasty warriors or SM game. Then I showed him the info about SM 2 that I read. Anyhow, unless someone really takes the time to find this site or dig hardcore for information about the game which most fans of KOEIs in america will not do because they know what to expect in the next Dynasty Warriors game or SM game. IGN basicly posted the only new feature is dual mosuo attack, I mean they obviously will post about the new characters eventually im assuming but as far as anyone knows its SM 1 with dual mosou attack and more characters... lol a lot more actually. IGN info on Samurai Warriors 2 http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/824/824988.html Gamespots info http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/sen...sou2/index.html They are actually showing more then they usually do with KOEI games like Dynasty Warriors coming out, but I suppose thats because they've actually done some real improvements honestly the 10 new characters alone are more then enough for me to pay $50 for this game. The game isnt too far from being released we got a lil ways to go I suppose but sept 12th for ps2 and sept 19th for xbox 360. My friend totally excited and suprised like I was after watching couple vids on youtube of the japanese SW 2 and reading the details on the game. Basicly there are a lot of people who are underestimating SW 2 already and its not evne released yet, it was shown at E3 or more I should say mentioned... only reason im concerned of course is if SW 2 doesnt do as well on 360 live or 360 period then there probably wont be another coming out for us in america :[ and that would suck. SO I hope KOEI throws more details at some of those game magz and game sites ASAP. |

What can we say? It IS poor company Koei. As BlackKite/MM says, Capcom beats the tar outta Koei in terms out of advertisement, in which I agree. You want good advertisement? Look to Sengoku Basara. Though I don't know for sure if Devil Kings' advertisement project is as grand as Sengoku Basara's... |

it's funny tho, there is no reason for Koei not to do these things... iv'e always heard Koei described as a gaming giant... http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&tab=wn&i...-8&q=koei+giant in the 1st article, it stated Koei's annual profits which IIRC was somewhere in the 20 millions... i donno if that makes them a giant, but hey, they make a profit.. i can't get into that 1st article anymore, but i did the first time... odd  |

Also, Koei can blame themselves that SW wasn't popular in west due to lack of adversitement. When DW5 was announced, Koei hyped it show much and didn't they even show the trailer of it in New York's big tv screen ? Now, they're doing the same mistake again like they did for SW and I'm not surprised if SW2 is not a succes in west >_>. |

Well, they sorta advertiesed it, but only as a "Annviersary Comemeration" so people probably didn't seem interested. Or maybe Tom Cruise's Last Samurai turned them away. They thought that it was going to be more american samurai! |

Koei, although giant, is not as big as Capcom. That's why Capcom have more option in advertisement than Koei. |

KOEI, in America is predominantly ... Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, etc. There isn't much apart from those games and those listed in the KOEI Warriors main page in the US (actually i haven't heard half of those games until finding this site haha). Their market in Japan is vast. I was looking through some videogame preorders the other day and KOEI had rpgs, horse racing (?!), and whatnot. It's amazing what these companies don't release in the US. Anyways i'll move this thread to the Koei Heroes section. <3 |

If they're making that much money, then they're doing something right, even if people don't think so. Therefore, if they can rack up such huge amount of bling without spending tons of cash on advertising, why the hell would they waste money advertising...? |

wow this is a horrible way to describe the game... Not getting enough Dynasty Warriors these days? Need more hack-n-slash gameplay to reduce your heightened blood pressure that's been caused by a lack of hack-n-slashing? (Hey, it happens to the best of us.) KOEI has just the thing, and they've advised us to take "2" and call them in the morning – Samurai Warriors 2. Set in the middle of a large, enemy-stuffed battlefield, Samurai Warriors 2 is the sequel to the best-selling Dynasty Warriors offshoot. The new edition looks like it's going to be more of an upgrade than a full sequel, featuring similar characters, environments, and gameplay mechanics. Visually the game needs some work, but is already resembling the DW series. The charge meter and charge attacks are back. Combos are still based on arcade-style actions, where you tap one or two buttons repeatedly until the move has been finished. Special moves let you take out multiple enemies simultaneously. And as always, hundreds more will be waiting for you the minute you’re done. Those who are new to the series but have played Dynasty Warriors (who hasn't?) already know what to expect. The gameplay is straight action with lots of characters getting tossed around the screen, followed by inevitable enemy annihilation. Jumping lets you strike from above, but the consequence of doing so means having a slow start when you land. Lifting enemies into the air, however, can be much more effective. http://ps2.gamezone.com/gzreviews/p29462_2.htm Wow how can you half azz your job writing previews & articles for a game site. Its like this it seems like... If the writer doesnt care about the game he wont try to dig up any real info on it he will just assume he knows everything about the game right then & there and start writing somthing exactly like above. Instead he should of wrote what he did without basicly telling everyone "this is the ONLY thing you will see in this game". Haha he said its more of a update then a SM 2, he said nothing about the 10 new characters. I cant even think of a game that came out with more then 6 new characters on a sequel. Anyway I really dont know why I care so much or take the time to do this lol, but it really is sad honestly. Most game site writers/previewers all have there heads up there @$$ |

I wish I could read the translated reviews of Famitsu
. IMO, those reviewers really know what they're talking about. If the game is great, then they give it great score (I heard Vagrant Story got perfect 40/40 and it still happens to be one of my favourite RPGs ever). Someone like Gamespot doesn't even seem to bother trying the games. Of course, if the game is GTA for example (which has huge fanbase) it automatically gets great score >_>. They don't dare to give it low score, even if they think the game sucks >_>.SW2 got 36/40 from Famitsu (that's really good) and I've heard so many players saying how great the game is and it's way better than SW/XL and DW5. But who wants to bet, that Gamespot doesn't give it higher than 7 ? |

Yeah, Gamespot and Ign can't really rate a game. If you look at DW5 the score is about 6.5. And then if you look at Xtreme and Empires, the scores are about 5. I mean, they only gave this score because they hate the series. And at Ign, DW5 score for graphics is 8 while DW5:E is 5.5. SW2 will probably get lower scores than SW1. |

Because the west doesn't appreciate or even care about the value of a game..for example Americans go crazy for Halo now there is going to be number 3..when DW came out America was like again? another one?...they just don't appreciate the value of Koei games.. |

Except for me I could careless about Halo. Its true Koei aren't good with advertisement, but hell they advertise enough so that the fans of Koei will know its coming out certain day. So I'm not worried about them they make there money in Japan, and make extras in NA/Euro by sending out certain games that do well in NA/Euro. Now its time that we get Nobunaga Ambition in the states also seriously bring it here. About IGN and Gamespot they aren't fans of the game like PSM Mag is they usually gave good scores to DW games and what not. Though I would say the fighting will still need improvements from the improvements they made for SW2/SM2. |

man i clicked fast reply like twice hope i didnt just double post anyway... Yea I fully agree with Scorpion, all I care is they keep sending those games over to U.S. and make it for 360 live or I will haft to learn japanese :[ lol. I am american and most people I hang around arent much of gamers or none at all, Im 21 and been playing PC games since I can remember. Anyway games like Unreal 2004 and other games similar to it on the PC are WAY better then Halo 1 and 2. Halo was originally going to come out for the PC and there are tons of content they had to take out when they through it on the xbox, but the only reason americans like Halo so much is because most do not even play PC and or havent even heard of some of the games like unreal 2004 which is way better then Halo. Everyone owns a xbox and Halo is the ONLY decent multiplayer game you can play on it.... so there you go. Halo is a good game and Halo 2 is as well, but its way to overhyped for what it is lol I get bored with that game so fast, I can play counterstrike & other games hell of a lot longer then Halo. |

I don't know, but i bet most people on this site have either few games, or live in Japan, China area but i have none of the games and can't find them, why doesn't KOEI have larger advertisements in the U.S. and America? I mean some of my friends specially order the games online but most of them don't worry about that, but would buy them, i bet, if they could buy them off the shelf. |

I honestly have not seen a TV advertisement of any Koei game in this side of the US. I have, however, seen magazine advertisements for DW Advance for GBA several times, but that's just about the only advertisement I've seen for a Koei game. The other advertisements I've seen would be the Game Previews that most Koei games have with it. |

well the problem with NA KOEI is that their games have interests in certain groups. IE, not everyone may be interested in The 3 Kingdoms or Japan history. Noticed how Capcom changed the names and whatnot in Devil Kings? I believe that it's for that specific reason. JP KOEI on the other hand, has... rpgs, racing games, mahjong. A wider range of games, but I assume that it's not popular enough to bring to NA? |

I've never seen any commercials for any of their games. The only ads I've seen were in magazines for Samurai Warriors 2 and Dynasty Warriors 5. Koei unfortunately doesn't seem to put much time or effort into their advertiseing in the US. They could probably pump up their business quite a bit if they improved on it since the only thing that a good deal of people see of Koei is the bad ratings in magazines.

It's a damn shame Koei doesn't put enough effort into their advertising. But truly, I don't know what Koei would do anyway. The general consensis is that the typical American player doesn't like games like DW. They always need something groundbreaking to impress them. I'm pretty sure they don't like anything that seems archaic to them like beat 'em ups or hack n' slashes. But it always makes me laugh when people are baffled by DW and possibly SW selling numbers to as why they're so high for a mediocre game series. Fans always pull through. At least reviewers here give the ROTK games a lot of respect cause those games are genuinely good, as I hear. |

I DO remember seeing a televised DW advert, I just don't remember which game.. I believe 4? It was recently after DW4 had been released, and it became the first DW game for me to own. I've also seen DW4, DW3, SW, DW5, and SW2 advertisements in magazines. |
