Hey, did anyone try to use Ranmaru in Okehazama stage? I was surprised, really

I guess thats the exchange we get for no story mode for Ranmaru, secret dialog in Okehazama and Honnoji.

And Odani Castle.

I've found out a few other ways how to obtain Orbs in Mercenary Mode. If you rescue an ally during invasion or defense battle (when fightning under a clan's service), he/she will always reward you with Orb. Note that if you find two Orbs from the stage you will only receive one (lame move from KOEI).

Yeah, Ranmaru has a few. It makes me think that at one point Koei actually gave him a story in SW2 but decided to withdraw it for SW3. Since they obviously never did with XL.

Nicely spotted with the other orb method. And I've heard someone say about getting 2 orbs but 1 before.

There's another method to farm for orbs as well. Some of the clan leaders will reward you with one at some point during your continued service to them. It shows up as an event "reward from the <insert clan name here> clan" and all you have to do is to select the event, collect the orb, then soft reset to load the same list of events and just keep doing it over and over again.

I was able to farm for at least 25 ATK+20 orbs from Ieyasu using this method. This was by far the easiest method since it didn't involve repeating a stage or anything, just an event.

Ieyasu is not the only one who does this either, IIRC. I think G. O. W. said that Kenshin does the same, but I'm not 100% sure

Yes, this one has been stated before though.

I got one of mine from Kenshin also. I believe you get one just before the unifying battle. In other words, its a thank you gift.

I don't or haven't exploited this glitch personally since I don't really do this kind of thing.

And Odani Castle.

Oh yeah I forgot about that, Ranmaru and Yoshikage talk about something regarding Ranmaru's youth and his thirst for vengance.

The Honnoji stage might as well be exclusive to Ranmaru, but what does he say in Okehazama? I didn't experiment yet.

At the beginning of the stage, like Toshiie, Ranmaru also wonders how Nobunaga is going to win the battle. Later he is amazed by Toshiie's spirit and passion, and wonders how he's able to match him. At the end of the stage, Nobunaga tells Ranmaru to go meet Ieyasu after the battle is over and deliver a message to him.

Yo, is there a reason that the Shura element in Xbo360 is yellow?

And turning invisible makes the game slow.

Yellow as in the image sign for it? It should be purple. Or do you mean the effect? Because the only effect that it could be is a level 3 musou which gives you a yellow glow.

And a cheat? Yuck. You shouldn't really expect a game without glitches using cheats.

@skyfirefly: It does work on the PS2 from all the posts I've read:

1. Get to a battle where you go against a yellow female unit that ambushes you, always giving you an orb.
2. Choose to not save it and soft rest on the main screen. (start + select)
3. Load Mercenary Mode again and do the same.

Even though you're not saving it, the orbs are always kept safe. But obviously make sure you save after every battle, so you are able to load the level again. And you have to safe after every battle due to you not knowing when the yellow female unit will appear.

Actually I mean moves that turn you invisible like Kojiro's special. Also I can't seem to get Mitsuhide's 5th weapon, even though I got Mt. Tenno by killing Mitsunari, then killed Magoichi, and then killed Nene, all under 5 minutes and on hard mode. What wrong? I did this thing 4 times.

And the yellow thing was for the effect. I did someones Shura weapon moves and it turned out yellow, just like Mitsuhides R1 special. Maybe its because of its xbox360ness?

I imported data from SW2, but for some reason, everytime, I turn the game off, I'm back with only 6 playable characters for story mode. Is that normal?

Yes, it's normal. You need to use import every time you turn the game on if you want to play XL with original game's content.

@Seirio: For his weapon, have you completed his story yet? You must complete a person's 5th stage in order to get their weapons after. You do not have to complete the Dream.

I did exactly what you did and got the weapon on Expert:

Killed Mitsunari, killed Magoichi and then killed Nene. After that the weapon appeared.

If this was SW2, then demon would be the element of choice solely due to the damage ratio being much superior.

Musashi is a one-on-one fighter who happens to be skilled in dealing with swarming crowds.

If you are confident and use his skill Finnese then juggling is your thing. Juggling, as you may know, is when you keep the enemy in the air for a very long time because your using your combo's well. In that case fire would be your best friend since it continually burns the enemy.

Ice would be used with his quick C1 and C4 if only you happen to use them a lot. His C1 for freezing officers and then unleashing his musou - just like Kojiro. Whereas his C4 uses a much better coverage range and freezes enemies when crowded.

The wind orb increases your range and stops blocking enemies. Its still not too bad with Musashi though.

Lightning is a bit risky due to it stopping certain combo's occuring since it brings the enemy to the floor and keeps the officers very close to you(which is what you want?).

Its about personal choice. :)

No problem. The thing about the demon element is that it does most of its damage at the start then gradually slows down. So when it slows down, if you feel like it, you may want to cancel using it and just hit normally. Charge moves tend to do the trick since a C1 would do more damage roughly as quick as a few squares with him. Also, his C1 very easily alters your direction.

Though of course you could try another approach and scoop the annoying Kotaro in the air with his C2 and stab him to death. ^_^

Demon isn't completely bad element for Musashi even though it was nerfed. When I was playing his Dream stage on Expert and I was using his 4th weapon I had no problems at all thanks to his new Charge attack. It's strong, fast and breaks guard but most importantly... it doesn't activate the element. Great way to finish off strong opponents after beating them to death with his other Charge attacks and broken level 3 Musou.

Are the voices of the 6 new characters good? Judging from the trailer, Toshiie was awesome and the other ones are just ok...while Motochika had a vedy deep voice *_*.

Lets see:

Toshiie- he's OK, kinda nasal a bit, but it fits the character well.
Motochika- very deep, very mysterious, very emo (in a good way!)
Gracia- Kinda good, her voice suits her, though her constant "Mago!" is annoying
Katsuie- very good, and I like his new voice over his SW2 one; It changes him from just a brute warrior to a philosophical one.
Kojiro- I'm not sure, kinda hard to comment on, it's pretty much the same as before.
Yoshimoto- better than his one in WO at any rate. His 2XL voice makes him a loveable doofus.

on the subject of the "best" element, i'll go with Lightening(as usual), i suppose it has alot to do with the characters i prefer(Noh, Ginchiyo, Yoshimoto, Katsuiie, Kanetsugu) who are all shorter range characters who benefit from the Lightening element. Fire and Ice are predictably reliable, but bland. Shura, as has been noted, is broken(in a bad way). suprisingly as much as i dislike the Wind element for Lady Noh, it works pretty well for some other characters.

is three the maximum number of slots that you can earn on each weapon for one attribute? i've never managed more than that, i don't think.

gracia's voice is fine cause it suits her loli-like attitude..
toshiie's voice well not so good.. i like the japanese one better
katsuie:great but in some stages his voice is till the same as the
SW2.. i think that should be changed.. <_<
motochika-if he's like an emo well the voice dont really fit cause emo's dont
have a manly voice i think..
yoshimoto-LOL!! i wont be lonely no more!! better than WO!! >_<
kojiro-best voice ever!! it suits him the best!!

on another note, how long does the Mercenary mode go on? i think i'm somewhere near level 35, and it's like a terminal version of dungeon grinding, the same thing over and over and over, and it's terribly easy, even on hard with a level 70 character and a really good weapon. i expect the answer is to start with a "green" character and build them up, but i'm not of any mind to reset anyone.

one more question, is three the maximum number of slots that you can earn on each weapon for one attribute? i've never managed more than that, i don't think.

Mercenary Mode is 99 and the 100th being a special mission when you've collected all precious swords only.

3 of the same stats for any weapon, so the best you can have is 3 times 20 attack, etc. Then making it +60 as the maximum.
