I agree with LoW about Toshiie. Sure he has a fantastic movelist but his voice and annoying attitude let him down. Its just Katsuie this, Katsuie that...he just whinges too much! And I just hope they'll let him follow Keiji in SW3. Yoshimoto.... well, despite his hideous appearance and very annoying voice and personality, his story was funny nonetheless. It was worth completing. *cringes* Kojiro: Not too keen on his appearance but I'm not too bothered either. His moveset was great and his story was cool, even if it did have such a small world of chasing and defeating Musashi over and over again. |

Well, I don't have to worry about rare skills anymore since I'm done with them. I'm only missing Awakening 3 from Motochika, Katsuie, Yoshimoto, Gracia and Kojiro but it doesn't matter since Awakening 2 is stronger in XL. Anyway, I just used the old good save + soft reset trick to obtain all rare skills. If you ask me, there are three factors which decide how long it takes to learn rare skills: 1. Character's level 2. Skill type 3. Stage difficulty I noticed this when I tried to learn Opportunity 3 for Katsuie. On my first try, I was at level 40+ and I had Opportunity 2. I played Fall of the Takeda, Katsuie's 4th stage, since Kanetsugu had Opportunity 3. When I finally reached Kanetsugu, I tried to obtain the skill...but it never happened. I wasted one hour on him and never got the skill. I was so frustrated that I finally decided to give up and try it later. After my Katsuie had reached level 60, I went back to the stage. Still nothing. Now I was furious. How is it possible that my level 60 Katsuie who on Hard difficulty can kill Kanetsugu under 10 seconds can't possibly learn one rare skill? I didn't give up, however. When I tried to learn the skill next time I chose Free Mode, Anegawa, Azai-Asakura forces, beat Nobunaga and then the magical message popped up... LEARN! Then I came to conclusion that stage difficulty had something to do with it but because I had been so stubborn before... well, I payed for it. After I realised my mistake, I only kept playing Free mode stages which had easy difficulty (between 1-3 stars) on Hard. I didn't have any trouble with rare skills after that. |

And I think the likelihood of you learning the skills is incresed in XL as well. Skills I was trying to learn for 10+ tries in SW2 I learned immediately in XL the first time I went for it. And its happening more fequent the higher I level up certain characters. But I think LDZ was on to something with the character idea. Other than Musashi, the character I learned skills the easiest with was Okuni. Now I found it funny that basically the strongest and weakest characters learned skills that fast. |

I think Gracia's story is the worst of the new characters. Though her dream stage is fun, the best of all the ladies IMO. Toshiie's story is just as generic as his MS. Nothing real special or memorable about it. |

I liked Gracia's last Story stage, though. It was the only one which wasn't completely made up by KOEI >_>. I agree about Toshiie's moveset. It's effective but boring as well. During his S string he does nothing else except slashes to right and left side. First four Charge attacks are similiar to each other and C5 is a direct copy from DW5 character's C5 attack. But I did like from his C9. Gives him attack boost and the way he spins those spears while charging through enemies is strong enough to take care of them. |

Thing is did she ever even meet Magoichi, there was NO magoichi as a single identifiable person as such yet here she is following around for her entire story. That aside leaves her with only her 5th battle as in anyway realistic as she was Hosokowas wife, as the daughter of Mitsuhide and a devout christian which wasnt fully accepted in those days i had a great deal higher hopes for her story than the one we ended up with. Of the new characters i liked the stories of Katsuie, Motochika and Yoshimoto as a comic relief in the ever missed abscence of the equally moronic Goemon. |

there's no way to say for certain, however it very unlikely that a high-born Lady(no matter how minor) would've ever encountered anyone involved in the Ikko-Ikki business, they were for the most part peasants. these ladies were held apart and above, with a few noteable exceptions(Matsu, Lady Chiyome). at that point she would've still been Buddhist and in her "studying period" about christianity. which means that she was not galavanting around the country-side assisting rebels against Nobunaga. her Tale has elements of reality, but only the final stage comes close to historical. |

I just did Gracia's Story, and I was very happy with it, sure it was mostly made up, but, you know, girls don't go round battlefields shooting fire out their bracelets do they? her VA I think was pretty good, the only think that annoys me is that she doesn't have the Akechi Symbol and has the Hosokawa crest, when that guy isn't even in the game, and if it because of marriage, why does Ina not have the Sanada crest? God -Damn KOEI.... |

Tadaoki is in the game as an NPC, he features in many of the Oda/Toyotomi levels where Ieyasu functions as support. also, once married, most of the women's political alliances are with their husbands families(i can't speak to the Ina issue, except that maybe since she was adopoted by Ieyasu, she felt a stronger loyalty). also, Gracia would've wanted to distance herself from Mitsuhede and the Akechi, as she was already seen with great suspicion and outcast as "the Traitor's daughter". |

I never noticed him (well I never really looked for him). But thanks for clearing that up! I think I will try Motochika's story next, I find him really easy to defeat because I don't think the Computer knows what to do with his water floaty things. I Hope I can use them though! |

Motochika needs some finese to be effective. the floating mines cause good damage but you need to know how to corral the opponent and then jump attack to pop them. |

agreed. i really like him, and as he leveled up and i began to "get" his MS, he became more workable. when i started with him i just thought "OH Lord...." he was so, all over the place, flailing about. probably sheer luck that i got through the first couple of battles. i swiftly gave him loads of Attack and Defense Skills. and then filled in the rest later. i also got a really good 3rd level weapon on my first playthrough of his final story stage, which helped immensely. his Musou is an officer killer early on which is also a big help, i just wish it kept enemies stationary or threw them towards you instead of away, it's very like Noh's bomb Musou in SW1. |

I suppose somethings have been changed. For instance you can do various other things with XL combined now compared to it not being combined. One of those is on Hideyoshi's 2nd stage, Shizugatake, where you can listen to Toshiie (him not being on SW2 alone) to find new dialogue etc. They have just altered a few things that's all. |

Noh's VA is still Alicia Ruiss in SW2:XL, it just sounds like she's gone back and listened to Mary Elizabeth McGlyn's SW1 and XL VA and tried to sound a little less "perky". admittedly, it is now much better than the SW2 lines that are still included. one more go-round and i might actually like Alicia's VA. i recall seeing some clips on YouTube with some of the characters SW2:XL new lines, you might find what you are looking for there. |

Yeah, her SW2XL lines are the best that Noh has ever gotten. Her SW1 VA was terrible and her WO VA wasn't that bad, but not as good as SW2/XL. |

She has gotten better than SW2, that is for sure however she still has nothing over Mary Elizabeth Mcglynn, Mary is pure legendary and one of the best Koei VA selections EVER in my opinion. But yeah Alicia has gotten a lot better in SW2: XL, I'll give her that. |

AGREED! nothing will ever top McGlyn's SW1 performance, i actually saw and talked with her at a speaking engagement she did at University of North Texas several years ago, and she was brilliant. she captured the seductive, dark and yet sensual and feminine nature of Noh, which IMO, Alicia just has not quite done yet. she's finally got the laugh down, and the SW2:XL lines seem to be modeled on McGlyn's performances, which is such an improvement from SW2(i nearly did murder, because Noh's VA was so TERRIBLE), that i can't be as hard on Alicia as i was after that game first came out. and Zhu Rong, i did'nt save the link to said clips. i think i found it under SW2:XL voice clips/actors?, not positive tho'. |

I've had many of these in the past. It's because your laser that reads the disc is either out of place or there's this circlular ring-shaped object thats worn-out in your PS2. I can't remember what it was called, but you can find other help here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/915821/19658 Obviously don't attempt anything that means taking the console apart unless you can do it. There are people who can if you can find electronic stores nearby that deal with these kind of issues. It's much cheaper this way than sending it to Sony, otherwise you will have to pay a lot of money thats probably just not worth it. |

The best way to earn skills (I have found personally) is to head to the enemy whos skill you require, beat him down until he has no life, and then interim save. Defeat him, reload, and repeat the process. That is the best way which will earn you the skill regardless of difficulty (depending on what skill you want though) and it will take much less time. My Kojiro Sasaki seemed to earn them a little quicker (required less load ups from the interim save) so I bet Koei did add a little hidden program that had certain characters earn them easier. However, this is only mere speculation... |
