As fans of Warriors games we all know what Free mode is for, right! For Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors, Free Mode allows players to play as any one character on any particular level without going through the Musou mode again. But for Warriors Orochi, I kinda don't get the point of having Free mode. In WO, after you beat a story mode you can play any characters you have on the stages of that story. So it's the same as free mode anyway. Frankly I'd like Koei to get rid of Free Mode in future WO titles and replace it with something worth having on the disc. |

I'm inclined to agree with you here. I also personally don't like listening to the death quotes, since its apparent in WO, they DON'T die. |

Free mode is basically storymode without all the pre dialogue before the battle which I find to be annoying at times especially when you want to unlock wepaons and items. You don't have to go through storymode and listen to all the talking when you can easily just do it the stages and get what you need through free mode. The only thing I don't like about free mode is the fact you can't unlock the characters that way. The one time I was trying to unlock No in WO1 and I did all the requirements right but I didn't unlock her because I realized I did it through free mode. |

The Free Mode stinks and is not necessary. If you are trying to get a character into Level 99 Story Mode is my way. From looking at the WO Games KOEI should really remove Free Mode to the future games of the series. |

Then where would you play characters like Sun Wukong who feels out of place in story mode but not in free mode. |

I don't think there's any use of Free Mode, since it's just the same with Story mode anyway |

Not true in my opinion. Free Mode eliminates the hassle of pre and post stage dialogue, as well as allowing characters to be chosen quicker and getting rid of the need to go to the story mode of different forces in order to play a stage in their story. |

*agrees with Bern* besides, when we met difficulties in Story mode and unable to unlock a stage due to lacking strength of our main character, we could always use Free mode to gain exp and prof and skills so our main char could be better and pass another obstacle. |

Although it does cut out the narrative introduction, it takes me a matter of seconds (literally less than 5) to blow through that, and I think the option to turn that off would be better than Free Mode. In Free, you have to re-select your characters before each and every stage, while in story mode you can maintain a team and more easily level/proficiency grind. You can also go back and replay story-mode missions at will, which is the only thing Free Play boasted over Story in DW/SW. If you were given the ability to play all of the stages from the other side (as was done in many DW games, I understand), then Free Mode would gain something, but I think this option should be unlockable in Story as well. |

i think that the free mode in WO is useless because, just like other states before, in story mode you can chose all the character you want and about free mode cutting the dialog at the begining well on your cotnroller there is a magnifique button call square or B and i also think that story mode is better cause if you have a favorite team and you jsut use them well after your level your team will already be there you would just need to press the start button

I've been unimpressed with the mode since like DW3/DW4. So I think they should ditch it in the Warriors Orochi series and think of something fresh. Perhaps a Destiny Mode, as I remember hearing lots of praise from the mode in DW5XL. All they would really need to do is have more than 8 stages and just give it a new name. |

I thought in Story Mode you could only pick characters for those levels that are part of their kingdoms path? I mean IIRC you can't pick Orochi in Wei's Story Mode. What if I want to do Guan Do on chaos difficulty and need a beefed up guy like him to do it? |

That's only true until you complete that story mode. Once you complete a story mode, any unlocked character is available to play in any of those missions. |

I find free-mode useful when I'm looking to level up characters in a story mode I HAVEN'T beaten yet. I really don't want to do the same one or two weak levels over and over and OVER to get the character where I want. So free mode is handy for that, especially at the very beginning of the game. It is rather superfluous once you've cleared all the story modes though. They could fix SO many problems with it though it if would just bump you back to the team screen after the level instead of all the way back to the main menu. Re-picking your team EVERY TIME is rather annoying to the point that I do grind a lot in story mode now. Free Mode certainly had it's place in other games, since it was the only way to play characters in a level where they didn't fit--IE: Cao Cao helping Sun Ce take back the Wu territory and such. But with the way Orochi is set up after clearing story mode--it is kind of being dead weight. |

I think free mode of warriors orochi is fun if the player is just a beginner he or she can play some character that has not been unlocked yet ..
