@TrasH who is it papa? If its some sort of rock I'll probably like it..I'm listening to Breaking Benjamin atm o.O
Ït's a Welsh band called Funeral for a Friend, they were quite heavy before, then they became more alternative rock, but latest album seems to have some heavier songs again. I love the other albums as well though, they just have so much emotion in them imo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmB2Vsqq5nA&feature=relmfu That is the song I was listening to, it's from their latest album that came out earlier this year

You should watch the video as well, not sure what you'll think, but I just thought it was quite funny XD You should also listen to The Matches, Thrice and Donots so we can fan over them together  Listen to them all so much, but can't find anyone else who does >.< Same with Protest the Hero, but not sure what you would think of them

IMO They are one of the most underrated bands out there, Kezia is still my favorite album of all time, was blown away when listening through it the first time and knowing how young they were when they did it. Still need to get Scurrilous though, hoping my brother will get it for me for Christmas, if not I'll just buy it myself as it's my favorite band as well, and I heard the first song, just so great. Arif is a huge inspiration for me, but his style of tapping is just so hard to pull off, so haven't been able to take any inspiration I get from listening to him and actually put it in a song

@Saku: When I watched it my thoughts were "I would so want to do a video like that with my band... or wait, I could not have people moving me around and grabbing my jaw like that without laughing so hard XD" Have our first video planned though, and think a lot of the early ones will be like that, 'cause it's easy, and so fun to watch

@Trash yes that was an excellent album, their sound has changed quite a bit since 08 though, i used to be die hard fan, especially loved song Heretics and Killers. Maybe i should give them another chance, my brother is always trying to get me to listen to them again. They are not a band i could cover though, lead's vocals are dynamite and very high. So as a bassist, what do you prefer so much with Protest the Hero, there are many great bassists out there. My favorite being Jeane Seagan, there has to be something that strikes your interest though?

@Saku im not too familiar with those songs, but i can certainly work on em, as Breaking Benjamin is one of my all time fav bands! Also i forgot to list the song home by them, though ive never worked on it, ive always wanted too!

I don't think they have changed that much, might say evolving, but changing... to me they're still the same super technical band on Fortress and Scurrilous as they were on Kezia and A Calculated Use of Sound, only heard one song from Scurrilous though as I don't want to spoil the album, but Fortress was certainly, to me, just more technical, and a bit more experimenting, which I personally love, shows they still want to improve.

Don't think I have anything I could say in particular that I like, there's just so many things that impress me, and some bassists I like do keep it quite simple, but they still have something that appeal to me, some I know what it is though, 'cause they are awesome to watch live. Flea is a must like if you're a bassist though, he's fast, knows exactly what he's doing and why he's doing it, great at slap, good with a lot of different playing techniques, and just a beast at live performances. Jaco Parstorius is another must like person if you're a bassist as well, not the type of music I usually listen to, but he have such insanely good techniques. And of course Les Claypool, same there, except he isn't a must like, because he is quite strange XD

@Megan: Don't think I've ever heard them, so don't know what kind of music they play

@Saku: Yeah, I can't believe they were able to keep such straight faces, and look like they're not concious, I wonder how many takes they had to do XD WOuld you mind if I showed you some of the other bands I mentioned?

@Trash quite the list there i must say. Flea is legendary indeed my man. Maybe evolved was a better word, which is why i must give them a listen again some time. For me my greatest inspirations for singing are Phil Labonte, Layne Stayley, Brent Smith, and the lead vocals of Breaking Benjamin of course. If you yourself have any requests, ill work on whatever i can, as long as it is within my range!

EEEEGAD a double post! Sorry, sorry, sorry!

One thing that's quite funny is that none of those are my personal favorites, I only listed the ones with the most talent  Who would have been must like (again, for bassists that is) but Claypool... he has so much talent, but just too weird so would understand if people don't like him, but I personally love him, but could be because I'm very strange myself  Tommy the Cat and My Name is Mud are just so great, and the sound he has on the 2nd one... the dirtiest sound I've heard on a bass. If I would list my personal favorites, then the list might become even longer.

Not too familiar with anyone of those, but could be because I listen to so many bands that it's hard to keep track of every member, only one that sounds slightly familiar though.

@Saku: If you want I could give you some suggestion on songs to check out, or if you prefer, give you some links ^_^

That makes it a bit hard XD I still think you should listen to the bands I mentioned though, maybe not as a sound for him though, but some might work. I'll list then anyway and you can check them out if you like, even though some might not be good for him ^_^

Donots: Calling, Forever Ends Today, Parade of One, Hello Knife, Killing Time, Break My Stride, and if you're interested then they have done a song called Private Angel which one of my bands will cover once we get some more time, and since we're doing it as a tribute to a friend of mine, I'm the one who's going to sing it XD

The Matches: Drive, Darkness Rising, Audioblood, Sunburn vs The Rhinovirus, Yankee in a Chip Shop, AM Tilts (Got to listen to this one, I promise you, you will be surprised, the song just completely changes style at several points XD)

Thrice: Image of the Invisible, The Messenger, At the Last, Doublespeak, In Exile, Music Box, The Artist in the Ambulance, Motion Isn't Meaning, The Arsonist

Prothest the Hero: She Who Mars the Skin of Gods, Divinity Within, Blindfolds Aside, Bury the Hatchet, Bloodmeat, Sequoia Throne, Spoils, Bone Marrow, and just to get a song from latest album as well, C'est la Vie

@Scourm: Don't listen to any of those bands, so was right when I didn't recognize any of the names
