Ah, college degree. There's a couple different degrees and which you choose depends on what your career ambitions are. There's no degree specifically for 3D-modeling, but there are a couple of degrees that include 3D-modeling classes.

A Bachelor of Fine Arts degree will teach you more than just 3D-modeling. You'll take classes in Art History, Design, and you'll be required to learn to draw, sculpt, paint. This is the most versatile degree, but requires a lot of dedication. Any traditional 4-year university can offer this, but make sure you find one that has classes in 3D modeling/animation.

There's also Digital Media, which will require you to take web design, programming, 3D-modeling, and a variety of software. Though this degree sounds tempting, be extremely cautious. Many people that graduate with this degree wind up unemployed, or limited in their career choices. They learned a little bit of everything, but managed to master nothing, which can really hurt your chances of finding work. Like before, a strong dedication to learning what you need will help you succeed if you do take this path.

The third option is a Game Design degree, which can be by far the most risky. Some people go on to work professionally in the game industry and had a great time at these schools. Other people are unemployed with over $100,000 in student loan debt, which is an enormous amount. If you go for the game art direction, these programs will teach you 3D modeling, animation, possibly concept art, and have traditional art classes thrown in. It's very tempting, but these schools cost a lot of money. The biggest downside to these schools is that while you may be able to get a job in the Game Industry, other industries tend to look down on the degree, which can hurt your chances... say, designing 3D models for an architectural company.

If you want to learn more about getting a job in the game industry, check out some of the articles in my source link. There's articles about several positions in the game industry, how to increase your chances of getting hired by a game company, and how to prepare for the career of your choice.
