(I know this is like from 5 pages back but I think you're a lurker so I'm hoping you'll see it anyway haha) Yeah, I wasn't too pumped about Warriors Orochi because it's just a bit too repetitive now like he dies, peace is restored, he comes back, he dies, peace is restored. So from the last one peace was restored... I'll give you a guess as to what happens next! haha. To be fair though, I haven't tried the new mode yet, so I'll have to see what that's all about. The one I was most psyched for was Samurai Warriors! They haven't released one of them in the UK for years! And I totally miss the story as well, I kinda keep up to date with the dynasty warriors titles but when I saw SW it was an instabuy! |

You think? I'm hurt ![]() SW1 still my favourite Warriors game, so safe to say SW4 the one I'm looking forward to the most as well ![]() On the pre-release stuff for WO3 I was hyped admitidly, the one which revealed Ryu from NG with his old NES game theme Ryu's Determination... Was so hyped then, but that died over time before release

Well I've just been on for like a couple of posts, I don't know what's what anymore! haha. I assumed because you randomly popped up out of nowhere though you were! Wow! Bold statement to make! Is that because of like looking back? Like nostalgia? Or genuinely in comparison? I must admit I wish they were more realistic and got back to their roots a bit though, like there's too much crazy stuff you can do now haha. I'm definitely increasing the difficulty now though, wiping out an entire army with one swoop of the blade was fun and all but it's a bit like, "where's the challenge that I used to have with Dynasty Warriors 3?" now Love how much more accurate it is though now to events that happened. That's a big bonus! Ah right, I already had WO3 on the PS3 and completed all the story and stuff on there before so I'll be getting even less than you will be in this case! Also they need to stop adding ridiculous amounts of characters! I don't know who's who anymore and what role they play Wow long messages, these should probably actually be somewhere in the forum and not the fun area haha. Never thought I'd feel like I was spamming the family page Edited by Ryuzaki, Mon Mar 2, 2015 4:03 am.

Once a lurker, always a lurker ![]() It's definitely not just nostalgia, although probably does factor in somewhere there are plenty of features and designs I prefer, and compared to most other Warriors games everyone also felt more fleshed out (by the time DW was up to the tech to do so it's roster was huge) Then it had the mission system, which changed how the battle flowed depending on if you did them, and gave incentive to replay stages to find all missions and see how the battle could go in various ways or such. I liked how the stages leveled up with you, max your level and the stages would be a real challenge, although it was incredibly challenging level 20 in sort of end stages if you needed a weapon in them ![]() The character interactions, the depth of most of the characters, the branching story paths and multiple endings, even some small touches like Magoichi getting a musket, Goemon a cannon and the ninjas both getting throwing knives in place of their bows. I could sing the praises of SW1 all day ![]() And also exactly what you went on about there too, although obviously the classic DWs have that stuff too. The authenticity of the designs, the fact you didn't feel all powerful, and the actual challenge (the modern DWs, if you bump up the difficulty to compensate makes the groups of like 20 archers wreck you and they don't even stagger you so can lose half your HP without noticing; not great) It's a mixed bag there for me. (DW wise, SW yet to get 4 obviously) I like how more accurate it is, and it's nice to have a full chronological story for each faction, but the lack of everyone having their own story, there is limited intensive to play everyone. Yeah, the lack of caring about WO3 once it was actually released had me hold off expecting some Ultimate edition to come along, since Koei and Tecmo do that a lot ![]() I do want to play it though now that that is out ![]() I don't mind the many, many characters, but WO is certainly starting to take the piss with it. Okay, now that feels like a long post ![]() I wouldn't think of it as spam though, it's a place for people to discuss whatever when you get down to it, we're already family afterall

Certainly a lot less random discussions about whatever these days, that is indeed mostly just the lounge ![]() Of course the Last Game is also often filled with random discussion in the moments it's not smiley spamming or repeating last ![]() Just the ways of it, as long as it's not a specifically themed game thread can discuss stuff fine, and even if it is, as long as the topic is held can discuss off the side of that

I miss the days it was called "What's on your mind?" though. It can get annoying when some people use that thread when they got to be so judgmental about someone else, unless the person they talked about goes too far in being offensive to others. |

Yeah, I know what you mean, it's coming back to me a bit now haha. That was a good game, simply because you had an incentive to not just kill everyone then onto the boss! The older ones do seem more fleshed out I think . Yeah SW1 was a great game like! Ah right, well that suck a bit about the dynasty warriors difficulty but at least it would be more challenging! I always hated archers in dynasty warriors! haha they were always so annoying! It's good though. Yeah, I agree, they should go back to DW3 style or even DW6 style and give each person a story you have to play through other wise I feel like I'm wasting some of the characters and I would never play as them. It would be so much more entertaining. I mean the amount of stages don't have to be the same for each person, just as long as their story lasts otherwise it's like, you play as one guy for one battle then that's him done or the same guy the whole way and you never get to really know the new guys or if you like them or not. I think they should do this just to stir up the system for a bit, then maybe go back to it in another like 3 years. Keep things fresh. Because in my head I can't tell the difference between DW7 and DW8 really, I couldn't tell them apart. Ah right, well that's fair. I just imported my other stuff onto this one so I've got all my stuff still from the last one and don't have to start from scratch. Nah it bugs me with dynasty warriors. Like it's not special when they add people now. They should only add like one or 2 people a year in all of their games then other new people in the next series if you get me. Focus more on the game and making people unique. That's what I think anyway. Yeah that's true! And we ARE family. Fair enough. Side note: What is this KW lounge? I feel like I missed something. and is is any different from this thread? |

"KW Lounge" is formerly "What's on your mind?" It was renamed due to long conversations in that thread since like 2012 or 2013 I think. |

Anyway back on topic I always liked the Orochi titles because they were fun fanservice and could finally have different stories than what we're used to. WO1 and WO2 were just straight fanservice, WO3, though, was on another level. IT.WAS.EPIC. And I LOVED.EVERY.SECOND. The hamminess. the JP voice acting. The fanservice. The drama. The cutscenes. Just lapped it up. I think KOEI was in a rut after DW6 and SW3 didn't do so hot, but I feel they got some of their groove back with DW7 and then WO3, and now they seem to have given Samurai Warriors the DW7 treatment, all the feels and following the real history for the most part. (I don't have the game but I saw the cutscenes, awwww man, the feels, the feels.... DW7 had feels, this one was ratcheted up a notch IMO.) Hopefully they continue moving forward and bringing us new games to enjoy! (I'm not really a fan of all the spin-offs like Gundam (though I like this one the most of any of them), One piece, etc.) Wow that was just a long stream of thought ramble LOL I guess I'll stop for now. |

Oh yeah I loved them! Warriors Orochi 1 was just like revolutionary haha, it was everything everyone was asking for! The second one was even better! Sun Wukong is still one of my favourite characters and that had quite a good story as well! A very goos story actually, like the first. The third however, I thought lacked and was just a sequel for the sake of a sequel and to kind of make money. I didn't really like the format of the whole thing. Oh and I know that this is a very unpopular opinion among almost everybody but I much prefer the English voice acting! The Japanese voice a acting just annoys me, I can never fully get into the story with what's going on because there's a Japanese voice going on but I have to read it and then in the battles when things happen and people are talking and I miss it because I was playing so I have no idea what's going on. Yeah that's something I really desperately hope they change! But they won't because money. A rut with DW6. Nooo, that, although may have been very unpopular, was completely different to everything they had done previous in my opinion. Which is probably why I liked it haha. And yeah wasn't SW3 on the wii or something? And was DW7 the one with like domination mode or conquer mode or something. Because if it was which I think it was, I did really like that one! But I didn't/don't like Jin and that whole route. It's just not there for me. I suppose it's probably because it's against what I have grown up with haha. |

Indeed, I don't think I could play in like Normal or below in DW games these days, far too easy to wreck everything. Hopefully SW4 won't have that issue (and WOs never had that issue to begin with, always pretty challenging to force you to swap between characters) Yeah, if they went back to the old style would be nice. Although I think it was at it's best in SW1 and DW5 respectively. DW3 did it well of course too, the Dynasty Warriors I consider best overall (although not my favourite) I get what you mean for DW7 and DW8. It's not like the DW2-3-4-5 days where there was at least semi-significant changes from game to game. DW7 was indeed the one with Conquest mode btw. On paper I actually prefer DW8, get a choice of multiple characters in the story and such, and Ambition mode is kind of like Xtreme Mode, but in practice I definitely enjoyed DW7 a lot more as DW8 was a lot of the same. Still not even finished off Jin's story in that because I can't be bothered. I liked Jin's story a lot in DW7 too, no aversion to it myself, but I did always like Dynasty Tactics which touched a fair bit on Jin in some routes anyway. Well that's nice, would suck to have to start over from scratch. I'd have worried I would have to, part of the reason I just waited beyond monetary reasons ![]() I can definitely see where you're coming from there. it doesn't bother me, it's nice to see new characters since I have ones I wish to see added, but they never get any presence when added anyway so feels like a waste. Well rarely I suppose, they do get a bit of one, for better or worse. Again though I know some of the stuff about the era mostly from Dynasty Tactics and Romance of the Three Kingdom games so it's not really hard to know who they are due to that. Definitely better to focus on other things, but it almost feels like they don't have the ideas for things to focus on to begin with really, so more characters to compensate. I personally didn't like WO2 very much, WO1 I did like a lot (irked me in places though) but 2 I couldn't really get into. As I've said not tried WO3 yet, hopefully it does seem to be 'another level' though, would certainly be a nice surprise if I ended up thinking so. I am very much with the English dub side of that, I mean I've been playing Hyrule Warriors lately which lacks any real voices (unsurprisingly) and the amount of times I miss what is going on and have to check the combat log because I'm battling and unable to read the dialogue as it pops up is ridiculous. I don't mind it, but I feel so lost at times, and it's the same issue with the Japanese voice acting since not understanding it is pretty much just as bad. SW3 was indeed the Wii exclusive one too, and to me at least it felt so bad to play. I dunno, part of it being the controls not matching up to the standard layout (only jump and musou reversed because that's how Nintendo's controllers are, but awkward), and then just the bonus objectives felt so... game-y. Took me out of it, since I like to try and be immersed in my games (been a real issue with Warriors since they went less realistic) Some of the objectives were alright, beat a certain officer in 2 minutes or such, but then beat an officer with a 300 combo and such is definitely very much immersion breaking. I did like DW7, definitely felt back on form. Not sure I'd have called it a rut, but it certainly was some bad decisions in the grand scheme of things before then. This is now even more jumbled as replying essentially to 3 different posts

No I actually always found that issue with Orochi as well. Especially on normal or below. Ah right, yeah I liked that one then haha. Yeah I didn't even complete DW8 actually, I just got bored. Crazy looking back but yeah I did like one or two story modes then left it haha.Never done that before, I mean I've even completed DW1 on the PS1! Yeah, that's what I mean, it's like can't be bothered. it's boring, especially Jin! Ah right, I never really got into Dynasty Tactics although I did buy them. Yeah I know! I wouldn't have haha, I would have been so bored! haha. Ah right yeah. No I had to talk my mam and sisters through how to upload my save data from the PS3 at home from the point of finding WO3 and turing on the PS3 as I've only got my PS4 up at uni haha. It took a lot longer than it should've! Oh yeah I like them adding characters that I think played a big role in the story of it all, like I think they're bringing in Chen Gong who plays a big part in my opinion, so I'm pretty psyched about that. But it's just a bit crowded! The only way I will get to know all of these people is with a story for each one of them. That would be ideal! And none of this camp nonsense either! I loved it at first and was exactly what I wanted and was great... but now I think it's just annoying, I just want to be in and battling now, get on with the story! Yeah I know, I miss the days I could name everyone of them now it's like, oh yeah he's in it now... it's not an event anymore where it's like. "HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEW PEOPLE THEY'RE ADDING! THEY LOOK MINT! Can't wait!" It just ruins it a bit. Yeah, I mean, I read the books or am in the process of reading them, 2 down, 2 to go, so that's where I get info from. Yeah that's definitely what it feels like they are doing. And it sucks. Yeah, I hope you enjoy it! It might be more your thing! Oh wow really? I thought you'd be a Sub guy! Most people into this thing that I've talked to are really. Yeah, that's exactly how I feel, completely takes away from the immersion which is probably what I feel is missing in these new DW's and this WO. Yeah I completely agree there. Oh yeah haha, SW3 was a flop. I played like 3/4 battles then was like, I'm done, I can't play anymore of this. Yeah, that's the one nobody wants to talk about haha. Yeah less realistic and the no dubs = less immersion so I'm completely in the same boat as you there. Hey! haha Urm well I always did. My first username was Sun Wukong and I always made my posts red for that because it fit the Sun Wukong and my sig and stuff. Then I changed my user and green suited it more. I don't know really, makes it stand out more, looks nicer, it's just something I've always done and it's just became a thing now. It would look soooo weird to me if I stopped now though haha
