Well, she was like 6 at the time, and I had already pledged to tone down the violent content in my games after seeing how she reacted to MK Deadly Alliance on PS2. When your 6yr old girl comes to you randomly and says "Daddy, that was really funny when you threw that guy into the meat grinder" then it's time to make some changes So yea, as much as I wanted MK/MKII I had to pass. I guess it wasn't because she wouldn't have liked them, but she would have liked them too much and because she was so impressionable, she'd be telling her classmates how much fun she was having ripping off heads and ripping out hearts I didn't need the school(s) giving me hell for that US got the neutered version of the first MK too on SNES. Thankfully, I had a friend who had the uncensored Genesis and Game Gear versions, so I didn't miss it too much At this point, I'd buy a Vita for the portability. Take my KOEI games on the go There's like a couple PS4/Xbone games I'd be interested in, but I barely play the PS3 regularly enough so no reason to get another Netflix box Haha, the irony. My PC just died the other day, so now I need to invest in a replacement. Haven't decided on specs yet, but I have some ideas

XD Teaching your kids at an early age, eh? I have had that problem sometimes with my cousins, they are older now, so one of them isn't really a problem at all, but used to be a bit of a worry when you're midgame and playing something that's.... not so appropriate XD I was exposed to violent games at a very young age though, because of friends and older brothers XD My parents were really strict on fighting games, eventually ended up just ignoring my mom and playing them anyway, thought I was old enough to decide for myself XD It is a shame though, because before I was old enough to play, my brothers had clayfighter! D: But was a fighting game, so parents (or most likely, my mom) thought it was too violent, so they exchanged it. Did get Mario Kart instead, which is awesome, but still. But that was pretty much it, not sure if it was because they didn't really notice the other games or what it was. I started playing Unreal Tournament when I was like 8, Carmageddon 2 must have been around that age as well XD Feels like its a good idea, playing the sequel to a game that was banned in several countries, at that age XD It did? I thought there was an uncensored SNES version, I guess it was the arcade version that was uncensored? And the ports you mentioned XD Another violent fighting game for the SNES that's a lot of fun, Primal Rage. Perhaps I should pick that up sometime too XD I only have 2 handheld consoles, my trusty gameboy color, which I need more games for XD And my 3DSXL that I bought for one reason, Pokemon XD Was skeptical about X/Y, tried my friends very briefly and watched her play it and my reaction was "Alright, I need me one of those things" XD I was actually worried that was happening to mine yesterday, it completely freaked out when I tried to restart it D: It does have its faults, but I don't want to hand it in since I don't live in the city >_< And don't have the money to fix it right now either D: |

My two youngest can't even handle Smash Bros on the WiiU, so no way I'm going to introduce them to MK My current 6yr old is a Mario 3D World pro though So yes, definitely training them early My parents were pretty lax growing up, so I was more or less free to choose what I wanted to play. Dad let us play Doom II on his PC Yea, Nintendo censored it in a bunch of places. They let up on the censoring with MKII, so later version of MK probably had the gore, but not the original release Oh man, Primal Rage. Good stuff, loved that game too. I can assure you that my youngest girls would love that game because they're all about the dinosaurs right now Trying to resuscitate my PSP since I picked up Battlefront 2 for $0.90 the same day I got MK Kollection The PC I am just going to replace. No point in trying to revive something so technologically ancient Wanting to and being able to are two entirely different matters though, haha

@Mr. Honda: Yeah, MK is probably a big step up then XD Need to ease them into it And let them get older XD I don't think I ever played any Doom, saw my brother play Doom 3 a bit though, but not something I watched a lot, didn't interest me too much at the time XD My brother was the go to guy in my family, borrowed his PC a lot or watched him play, introduced me to quite a lot of series I play a lot today XD Loved to watch him play games that I was not capable of paying myself when I was young, like old school adventure games like Monkey Island, and also watched him play a lot of Final Fantasy. I did make my own attempts at Final Fantasy at a young age, but my English was quite limited at the time, sooooo XDYeah, it is a shame, I mean sure we can just play other versions of the game, but I am a SNES guy, and there's a certain charm with having a SNES game XD It was, I didn't play it THAT much though, so never figured out how to do the more violent stuff in that game XD And that's good, dinosaurs are awesome, especially the t-rex ![]() Ohh, battlefront games are awesome, I bought a PC version of the 2nd game on Steam sometime last year after seeing youtubers play it. It does allow for some pretty large scale multiplayer battles, which is awesome XD My computer is pretty old now too, but it had good specs when I bought it, and things have been giving out over time, so very few things are the same still XD @Selli: Hello! It's because you haven't been here ![]() @Bellflower: *hugs sis*

@TrasH: We'll see. My girls are already violent enough, they don't need any additional influences I didn't start my dive into the more violent games until I was almost in my teens. Most of the time, it was co-op or competitive sports games with my brother I played all the MK/KI/PR stuff in the arcades mostly, then brought them home to try and master them I wasn't very good competitively then and the same applies today I'm hoping the next Battlefront will have a PS3 version, because if it doesn't, I might be forced to upgrade consoles I cracked out playing BF2 on the PS2, I'd buy a console for it (since I highly doubt they'd port it )And I agree with TrasH. It's been quiet without Selli and the FT regulars, including needing more adorable animal pics around here

@Alice: Thanks to a certain member, I did realize that I played the first Doom...... on SNES XD @Sanada: Well, we have been over that now ![]() @Mr. Honda: But Mortal Kombat can teach them that violence is bad, just look at what happens if you decide to fight, sooner or later you will run into Sub-Zero I'm not sure when I started playing them, probably was around 8 or something, because I started playing SNES when I was like 5, and my brothers were doing other stuff, because they never let me play with them because I was "too young" XD Then we got our first computer when I was like 6 or 7. I still have the first game we had for that computer, might have it installed still too. Then I found the sequel on Steam, found out that it comes with the original as well, so can choose that when you launch it instead, so had to buy it XDI think I started out playing them on emulators XD Then I got Shaolin Monks for my PS2 which I thought was a lot of fun, had been fun to play as more characters, but was still fun XD And that's what really triggered my passion for Mortal Kombat, for a long period after that, that was my main gaming passion. I played all the MK games I could get my hands on, I watched the movies, the cartoon, the old TV series that was really weird XD I read up on the story in every game, and all the info on all the characters, I joined a MK forum and was very active there XD I did always like the old games, and thought the ninjas were so cool, obviously But I was always terrible at them and got nowhere, why I didn't play them as much XDIF we get a Battlefront 3 XD It does seem likely now, but there's been so much around that game back and froth. One moment it is coming out, the next moment its cancelled and LucasArts is shut down, then it has been picked up again and son on. It does get a bit worrying at times XD But I am hopeful, and hopefully whoever does it doesn't screw it up and manages to capture the feeling of the series ^^ That would be nice, although I am most likely getting it on PC if that is an option XD |

@TrasH: Good point My MK hype peaked with MK2, picked up again with MK4 (I didn't care much for MK3, lol) and then again with Deadly Alliance and Deception. I guess I had most of the main titles up until then, but then I dropped the series altogether. The movie was amazing though, the first one anyway. Never saw the second Supposedly we're supposed to hear more BF3 news this month, like 3rd week in April or something. I'm not holding my breath for it, but I am waiting with keen interest

@Honda: You probably shouldn't take any pointers for me XD When I got REALLY into Mortal Kombat, every game up until Armageddon had been released XD I really liked the first 2 games, 3 was alright, but prefer UMK3 for obvious reasons That game was insanely difficult though, can never get past Jade XD MK4 and Gold.... the visuals of them aren't great XD I did like Deadly Alliance and Deception, Deception had such an awesome Conquest mode as well. Armageddon.... I love the concept of just putting everyone back in there, but the gameplay was so slow and clunky XD And the fatalaties sucked, not counting stage fatalaties. Never played MK vs DC, but MK9 was awesome, really want MKX, would pre-purchase it on Steam and get all the DLC and stuff that comes with it, but I have already spent pretty much all of my money this month so XDThe first movie was great! Most fans claim the 2nd movie is terrible, but I can like movies who others think are really bad, and I did enjoy the 2nd one when I watched it XD Was years ago though, so don't remember much of it, and watched it with a friend who had caught my MK hype ![]() Oh, I see, I am terrible at keeping up with news on videogames XD Hopefully there will be good news. And I am the same, I mean I don't even bother keeping up the news, so obviously it's not the most anticipated game for me XD (that one got cancelled) @Selli: But you always keep this thread alive, and usually attract more people when you post

I told him to hurry up before it ended! Not like MK? Blasphemy!
Depending on their age though, I guess the choice of MK can be debatable XD Although I have the crappy EU version that was censored >_< Think that only goes for the first game though.
I didn't need the school(s) giving me hell for that
There's like a couple PS4/Xbone games I'd be interested in, but I barely play the PS3 regularly enough so no reason to get another Netflix box
