Yikes. Hurtful. :/

Besides, LDW is the Tonbo Giri around here :tonbogiri:

I didn't mean to offend, I'm just playing with ya :kosho: You're the true Tonbo Giri to me, you even have the name :beard:
Wasn't taking it personally :P I'm familiar with Lounge humor :asia:

Only difference is I keep my Tonbo-Giri to myself :honda:

Of all the words that have ou in British English and o in American English, humour really doesn't look right to me without the u
Or maybe it's being next to Lounge that does have an ou in both.

I often forget there's differences like that between the two English languages. The one that gets me all the time is "theater" vs "theatre"

I'm used to both spelling systems, more so the American one, but I've always preferred the British system for the most part :ph43r:

I like how Canadian is mostly a blend of the two :P

In the case of theater/theatre, I agree. Maybe its the French classes I took that bore the -re ending into my mind :ph43r:

I'm the same normally, even get called out by my brother for using some Americanisms and spellings, but ou ones I typically always use that variant

Armour is another one I think just looks much better with the u
Most I think seem fine, but a few seem pretty off to me :asia:

Words like to play tricks on me anyway, no matter how many times I look at a word I'm like "is that right". Especially if it's a really long one

I mostly have the same preference as Sanada-san, with words that end in "our" like humour and honour and armour and candour and stuff :P I'm used to spelling them without the u, but they just look a lot better with them :hehe:

I also like using two Ls for words like travelling and don't like spelling stuff like "judgement" without an "e" :P

Theatre, too, used to seeing that thanks to French and British spellings :P

Yeah, me and a friend of mine always end up like that to each other when talking on IM stuff. Maybe it's a Scottish thing, as I rarely see people say that too much, but who knows.

I think my default is always going to be American spellings (for obvious reasons :P ) but when I encounter the British variants (such as on here) I barely blink at it being different.

I just had a situation at work where I had to choose between theater vs theatre and spell check kept disagreeing with me because I kept wanting to use the -re version :P

That sort of stuff is a nightmare for reports. Spell checks, even when set to British English, really do no agree with a lot of the British spelling. I dunno what it is, but it always flags errors for basic grammar things.

Most annoying one for me being things like realise, the s instead of z ones.
Well that was the whole point of this thread to begin with, anyone who actively posted here really has a family
Even if it was more of a chat thing before the lounge mostly stole it's thunder.

Some families are more stupidly large, obtuse and nonsensical than others though :asia:

Yikes, realise  Yea, spell check doesn't like that one, and I don't think I could get used to seeing it without the "z" :hehe:

Short reply for now :ph43r:

Indeed I am his granddaughter :woot:

Yeah, judgment is actually a word, really don't like seeing words like that without an e

Bubble, you should join my family! :D I wonder why you aren't in it yet :XD

Coincidentally, one of the things my brother most commonly calls me out on is my constant switching of pronounciation of that letter, zed or zee :P

You know, I never questioned my spelling of judgement until now ... I think I've always included the "e"

And "z" will always be zee to mee :hehe: Even French class couldn't bore that into me :P
