@DA: Nope never heard of him. And I don't know any words in Portuguese. I studied Spanish for five years, and I know the languages are similar.

*takes away Pinguin's plant* HA!

Hi FoxGirl! How are you?
Uncounciously you do. Esposo, for example, is the portuguese word for husband, as well as esposa means wife in portuguese. See?
One of the advantages of knowing a language based off of Latin is all the others become way easier to learn. ^_^

My plant!! It has run away!!!
Fully agreed, but, the question is: Let's suppose you know Italian very well. Then, you will travel to Portugal. Do you think you will be able to speak portuguese as well as you speak italian?

Well, no, unless you learn Portuguese before going. Although it might be possible to learn given time (probably quicker than learning other languages)

Correct. Then, I'll tell you a real life fact that happens almost everyday: Brazilian people that go to Europe to work or live( Well, when the Europeans allow immigrants to enter their countries, especially french and spanish), especially to Spain, they tend to think they can make their way around speaking Portuñol, but it's not so. So, before everything, I say we, Brazilian, and the other countries, should respect each other language.
My language, for example, is far more difficult to learn than english. When in English you use was/were, here we have 48 variations of translations to was/were

That's the way it is with Spanish. If I was to say "I went to the store yesterday" it would be "Fue a la tienda ayer." But, if I was to say "I always went to the store" it would be "Siempre iba a la tienda."

(I'm pretty sure tienda means store. I'm going off memory.)

That is why both are difficult to learn. Not underrating English or anything, but I think English is way easier to learn( from the three languages I ever had contact with: English, Portuguese( Brazilian one, Yeah!!!!) and Spanish

I agree with that. French is harder to learn than English. Even when speaking it all the time and being my mother tongue, I still don't know some rules of grammar correctly.
