Loving the design but not so much the gigantic sandals! His weapon looks very interesting some sort of oversized gauntlet which also doubles as a cannon? I'm curious, this sort of look seems to be quite common for a warrior-monk in a few games I have played, (Ayame faction in Shinobido and a few other games which I can't recall the names of) is it a traditional depiction or something like that?

Well from what I read he started off as a bad boy by defeating and taking peoples weapons and carrying them around. But eventually was defeated and followed Yoshitsune. So one could assume he'll stay with Orochi in most of his story and then defect to Wu once defeated by Yoshitsune Minamoto. There's a cutscene pic that shows both of the two about to or dueling together, so that could be just before the last stage or something. The cutscene looks like from Itsukushima, so perhaps they bump into each other just before he bumps into Kiyomori. |

I keep missing these important screenshots. (NEEDS TO LURK MOAR LOL) Anyway, thanks for the heads up. I'm looking forward to seeing gameplay of Benkei and Yoshitsune. The latter is such a famous legend, I'd like to see the comparisons between the more humbler counterpart and Yoshitsune. |

Well, not exactly. He was waiting on a bridge and fought every warrior that crossed and took their swords. He wanted to collect 1000 swords, sell them and build a temple. But when he had 999 there came Yoshitsune and easily defeated him. And so he decided to follow him for the rest of his life. |

Just to add what's been said but the game also needs to have more playable characters that could/should side with orochi as fighting the same generic snake guys does get old.... |

...Good point, but having Keiji, Masamune, (initially) Ieyasu + Sun Ce and co., Da Ji, Himiko, Sima Yi and the list goes on...is a handful already, don't you think? Anyway. I guess the snake guy could use some more non-generic back up. I'm still looking forward to Benkei gameplay, no matter what side he's on. |

No, I do not think so. You don't get to fight the Wu, Wei, Shu and Tokugawa officers as Orochi officers. The only characters are: Orochi (X) Da Ji Kiyomori Taira Sun Wukong Himiko Gyuki Dodomeki Masamune Date Keiji Maeda Sima Yi Dong Zhuo Lu Bu Diao Chan And not even all of them are still with Orochi in WO2. Compare that list to the amount of characters that are fighting against Orochi, and you'll see. PS: Divine Mercy, I saw your signature. Wang is not the surname, it's Taigong. The character's really similar to the Benkei from Capcom's Okami. He likes collecting weapons too. Is that some kind of historical fact thing?

I think Benkei looks pretty damn cool. I prefer him over the Fashi gal anyway. I like Benkei's big hand weapon and can imagine him being quite very powerful. Don't know too much about him historically but I don't really care too much about it due to his appearance. I'll have too look more into him. Also like the fact he was real, and didn't decide "hey, I wanna change my gender"  , unlike Sanzang .

Having heard about Benkei's story and why he's with Da Ji and gang, I'm fairly disappointed with the reason for Benkei's allegiance to Da Ji's gang. I mean, a monk getting conned into working for the bad guys because of a thirst for iffy weapons? (that is, if i didn't hear wrongly about benkei joining orochi's forces because da ji promised him an opportunity to get a vast weapon collection) |

Personality wise, Benkei is pretty cool. He's more like the Benkei portrayed in Okami rather than the Benkei in Genji. His costume is also similar to the one he had in Okami. Only gripe I have with him is his giant mechanical fist. Honestly, Benkei looks much more intimidating without the mechanical fist than with it. It would've been cooler if they made him comparable to the other big guys like Lu Bu and Tadakatsu by giving him a spear or naginata of some sort. Better yet, he could've had a movelist with the box of weapons he carries on his back. |
