Reading this, I'm not suprised. I remember reading somewhere that one of Techmo's main men quit over some money denial issue or something. Well, as long as we still get all our games (hopefully Techmo's games won't go down the toilet in the buyout process! Or KOEI's for that matter but Techmo's the weaker company who'll probably get absorbed by KOEI) in as good if not better quality, I'm happy

KOEI's not absorbing them nor buying them out unlike a certain Square-Enix, they're going into a merger, probably something like Bandai-Namco? And also they're both getting their individuality so yeah. |

Maybe Tecmo didn't like the idea of disappearing under the Square-Enix banner. Although a merger would likely cause a name change/merge as well, interesting to say the least... Too bad I don't really give a stuff about Tecmo games. |

For those who haven't read the article: On the heels of rejecting Square Enix's "friendly" takeover, Tecmo announced a merger with Japanese game maker Koei is in the works. Today, talks between both companies commenced for a tentative merger, and an "Integrated Management Committee" was created. Both companies hope to balance each other's portfolios — Tecmo is popular in the West with its fighting franchise Dead or Alive and action series Ninja Gaiden while Koei is popular in Japan (and Asia) for its historical hack-and-slash Dynasty Warriors. From the statement issued by Tecmo today: "As the game industry environment changes with high-powered hardware, portable game machines and rapid growth as well as online mobile games, the accelerating consumer needs are varied and sophisticated. The industry has intensified. Multi-platform and the importance of overseas markets is pushing the industry towards global competition. ...Under these circumstances, these two companies have excellent financial positions, strengths and the ability to take advantage of each other in order to improve profitability and solidified the foundation of a worldwide leader. " The statement also acknowledges that both companies are in talks with the aim to integrate management in the future in hopes of creating a "stable and secure environment" as well as respect each other's individuality. |

2009 - KOEI announces special hidden character in its upcoming SW3 for next-gen platforms .......... Ryu Hayabusa :ph43r: Ok, so that MIGHT be cool if it were true. The only other Tecmo game I'm familiar with is Tecmo Super Bowl for the NES :lol: |

Well, if KOEI continues the WO crossover series, then Tecmo could include their DoA characters in an expanded VS mode
Either way, Ryu + SW = WIN :ph43r: Though, not sure how they would include Ryu and his dismembering abilities

I am hoping that Tecmo could improve on the WO3's VS mode ^^. (IF there is a WO3, which I'm hoping for  )And also in other news! 2009- SW3 will have BLOOD AND DISMEMBERING of body parts, you can cut officer's arms and get yours cut too :lol: :lol: |

This ^ However, there's no need to expand the cleavage. Noh's boobs and Da Ji's boobs are big enough and DW6 Diao Chan needs smaller ones to keep her outfit on :rolleyes: Improve the mechanics of the VS mode, but don't DoA the female DW/SW characters

This surprised the hell out of me when I booted up GameSpot. I hope this doesn't alter Koei's name. This isn't the best news, since Tecmo's games are pretty lackluster, to say the least. I could definitely see a new Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors fighter coming from Tecmo's end. The original DW for PSOne wasn't that good, but I guess if they want to take advantage of the merger, then let Tecmo do what they do best with one of Koei's franchises. I could see a DW or SW character being in the next DOA, though. That's an over 90% chance, I think. That is, if this goes through. I'll keep my eyes peeled on this for sure. |

I think together they can make more and better games. I self think on a Dynasty Warriors Series, between 900-1000 Ad, maybe with Tecmo together such a serie, can come faster. |

Interesting............If they merge it will be great for both. But I disagree if DOA characters added in SW or DW or WO because that is not proper with the history. |

Good luck to them with the merge (take your time in merging, it's not something to be rushed), with both of the firms producing somewhat different genres of games, if they combine their ideas and game mechanics, we could be seeing a lot of great titles in the future. The only thing I'm concerned about is the company name, if they're going to have a merge, I doubt KOEI and Tecmo will remain as separate logos, which is disappointing. |

Im still not too sure if I would be excited about this or not. I have personally never liked DOA, and would be extremely disapointed if some of the things that have been put toward DOA or ideas get pushed toward the likes of DW or SW, they just dont fit. I would be much happier to see a merge of another company with Koei. From what ive known of Koei, I kind of doubt they would agree to this as this is deffinitely the push of Tecmo. |
