Orochi X Insta-kill Move?; Some Major B.S.

First Lieutenant Posts: 175 Group: Members Member #7,186 Joined: May 4, 2007	So, I was playing on Sekigahara on hard, killing off all the troops in Orochi's base before I was about to turn my attention to him, when he sneaks up on me while on my horse, and uses his C1 to knock me off (and deplete my musou). I flip up, and he nails me with what I think was his R1 special, and it completely depletes my life gauge, when I HAD ALMOST TWO FULL BARS OF HEALTH LEFT! Has done this to anyone else before?

I had a level 70(or something around there) Ranmaru, playing on hard. I was beating the crap out of some Orochi generic officer, when Sun Wukong came from behind and killed me in two seconds, when i had full life. I havent been jipped like that since.

Shin Orochi's R1 is strange. Sometimes it'll due insta-death (or it seems that way) and every other time it just hits REALLY hard.

First Lieutenant Posts: 175 Group: Members Member #7,186 Joined: May 4, 2007	I was playing with a level 80 Musashi. Would've tried to counter it, but he depleted my musou first. I think that might have had something to do with it, since I think I've been hit by Orochi's R1 before and it never did this. The worst thing about it was I didn't consider him a threat, since I usually kick the ever-loving crap out of him, except with Nu Wa or Gracia, as most of their attacks have a narrow attack range. Sun Wukong's nearly killed me a few times on hard, because he and his clones like to try and juggle me. This thing with Orochi was a lot different. One hit, and all my life was gone.

But yeah, i've been killed by that darn move lots of times, but mainly cause i start goofing or try to setup for an epic finish. And lol Wukong has juggled the hell out of me, but never killed me ironically.

And of course... character levels and I guess proficiency make all the difference I suppose. That move of his is mysterious though. Sometime's it's killed me in one go... sometimes it just takes off a nice chunk of life off... one time I even got hit by like the very edge of it while he was moving past me, and it hardly took away any health at all. Very confusing indeed. As for that Wukong... oy he's a right pain in neck himself. Before I had any almightys I would use regular Orochi to get fourth weapons in stage Wei-1. (Chaos of course) It was really easy untill I got to Wukong himself, who killed me quite a few times actually. Then I figured out you can kill him by spamming Orochi's Jump Fireball attack thing. Or just save your Musou and let it out on him, then spam C1 while your in phantom mode. Both = incredibly cheap.... but they work. ^.^ Anyways, back on topic: as I said before, I'm almost positive it has to do with range. And maybe also what direction he's facing. Cuz if he's moving away from you, it probably wont do as much damage as it could regularly. Perhaps I'll go and test this out though. Seems to only happen under certian conditions. Wouldn't hurt to find out what those are. Well.... unless you happen to be the test character that is. >_>

NOT the Serpent King xD Posts: 357 Group: Members Member #19,111 Joined: October 17, 2008 Gender Male	Shin Orochi's R1 was used on me a couple times, and it only knocked a small amount of my character's HP (even on higher difficulty). I guess it's the position of the enemy/your character that determines the damage inflicted (from all to barely any at all).
	Prepare for a laugh! A good comparison video for Orochi and Shin Orochi.

I was killed using Action Replay and having unlimited health active!!!!!!!!!! Get me right: I just used AR after a hard day of work to simply slash some people. This would definitely be the case if we were referring to his C3 laser beam attack from hell I got caught against a wall with that --> 1 sliver of red left His R1 has a sweet spot though, and you don't want to be caught in it. If it misses and only grazes you, you can easily survive

Has anyone actually confirmed it as being so and if so the reasons behind it (the posts above only list theorys)? It doesn't really matter if no one can confirm it as I've fully completed the game - I was just wondering as I'd never heard of it before...
