So, what is all of your favorite Gundam series and why? Personally, I'm partial to Zeta Gundam and the new Gundam 00. Zeta is a classic with lots of emotion, likable characters, and inevitable tragedy. 00 is very action packed and has a complex story that makes it interesting to watch. |

I'm decidedly old-school - My favorite is probably First Gundam. I love Zeta Gundam from an artistic perspective, but I'm just not into the sheer amount of angst packed into it. It's a good series, but I don't watch most anime to be horrendously depressed all the time. Big fan of Crossbone Gundam, but that might just be because Seabook is awesome and it's nice that his corner of the universe got the full series it deserved. 00 seems really awesome so far too and I like that it's not quite as angst-packed as SEED got sometimes. Oh, and credit to G - it might have been cheesy as hell, but admit it, that's why we loved it. Edited by Thuellai, Feb 3 2009, 05:19 PM.

Great idea Wenze! My favourte is ZZ Gundam, it had really great moments, and a lot of comedy, and was quite light hearted at times. I perfer this to some serious always fighting series. Saying that though 00 is a close second because the characters and story in that are great. |

hrmm this is tough...... Zeta, 0079, ZZ, Victory in this particular order is my favorite series orientation. I think it was because Zeta tied in some characters from the original gundam and had a darker story and i enjoyed the music in it..... probably same feeling for 0079 music and plot was a bit more deep and was sort of more new concept when they brought out this series..... ZZ for continuing the lineage of both Zeta and 0079.....and it was more childish and funny...... Victory for bringing it back to a more darker series....... and showing more technological advances to the mobile suits..... Char's counterattack for the sheer fact they brought in some cool looking mobile suits and finally ending the story of Char and Amuro..... 08th ms team i liked this series for it's more war like feel. 0083 stardust memory this series had an interesting villain and main character....and the suits were pretty interesting too..... Gundam F91..... i didn't really watch this a lot just seen it probably once.....although the suits looked great in action....felt technology advanced a bit more from the UC universe when they did this....movie...... Gundam War in the pocket.....it seemed to bring back some feeling of Zaku vs Gundam feel.....i watched this series more recently after some of the more newer series so it felt kind of awkward looking back at the animation and all that but seeing how gundam was back then brought a taste of history to it..... I liked Gundam Wing and endless waltz for its model kits just couldn't get past the cool suits they had in it building the kits were fun too......and also felt the music was nice.... I also liked Gundam X for the model kits as well......i'm always a fan of big lasers...the story was alright.... Gundam Seed and Seed Destiny was somewhat fun too I liked their mobile suits too....the story on the other hand felt not as intriguing..... Gundam 00 seems to have a lot of nice mobile suits and the plot is not too bad...I felt it was a lil better than Seed Destiny so far....... and the moves of the gundams are pretty cool looking..... God Gundam I enjoyed the aspect of just letting all concept and knowledge of what mobile suits are capable of thrown out the window.......where else can you get martial arts kicking and punching and other fighter like moves..........i felt this was the series often used for going out of boundaries sorta like your Prince of tennis for Gundams...  That's pretty much my list of interests in this Gundam universe.....may be till the next new series after Gundam 00......... yes I didn't mention some other series for I didn't really find a spark of interest to me as much as these ones I mentioned.... |

0079: Awesome. Amuro is my second favorite Gundam Protagonist, Char was an amazing villain (well, almost an Anti-Hero) and for it's time was probably one of the best shows on TV. Zeta: Kamille is my favorite Gunadam Protagonist, he goes from a whiny child to a mature and responsible person. Scirocco is just badass, he schemes his way into a position of power and would have changed everything if not for Kamille and his amazing Newtype abilities. ZZ: Haven't been able to finish 10 episodes..that says a lot. Stardust Memory: Gato and Kou are amazing, and they're not even newtypes. The Gundam Unit 3 and Neuve Ziel were both awesome. 08th MS team: I like the perspective of this one, as a random squad of Mobile Suits against the Zeons is a big difference from the Newtypes/Aces. Wing: Was good, but doesn't compare to the UC stories. Trowa and Heero were my favorite pilots. Seed: It felt like a bad remake of 0079. Still worth watching, Rau Le Creuset was amazing, and Athrun was cool. It's too bad Jesus Yamato never died. Seed Destiny: Started off great, Shinn was a refreshing new character (although similar to Kamille) and Athrun takes on a role similar to "Quattro" and feels very similar to Zeta Gundam, only problem with Destiny is they focused WAY too much on Kira. What made Zeta so good was Kamille had the spotlight late into the series, and Amuro wasn't needed to make it a good show. 00: Despite some bad reviews, I think of it as a much more intelligent version of Wing, but with better characters (Hallelujah is AWESOME!) |

Char's Counterattack. The soundtrack is great even if every song sounds the same, the animation and art is fluid and stylish, the characters are likeable in their own ways and the Mobile Suits are fantastic. |

ZZ is my favorite. I love the characters in it and it has some of my favorite mech designs. I just hope if there is a DWG 3 it gets a little more attention. Anyways close behind are Mobile Suit Gundam, 0080, Zeta, G Gundam, Turn A, and 00. |

Char's Counterattack: I first saw it on youtube, loved it so much that I bought it and now I have watched it 5 times all the way through. The soundtrack and visuals are great despite it being an older anime movie. Plus the mobile suit designs are some of my favorites. Gundam Wing: Once again it was a great deviation from the original series with 5 protagonists in this one who are all good pilots unlike the previous stand-alone pilots of the U.C. timeline (Amuro, Kamille, Judau to name a few). I liked the techno based soundtrack as well as the designs of the mobile suits and characters. G Gundam: The most original story in my opinion, G Gundam finally gave us DBZ fans something to like about Gundam (even though I was a fan beforehand), but the fights didn't drag on forever like the former seemed to do. The characters were awesome to watch and finally we got to throw logic and reasoning out the window and boasted the easiest to follow storyline. On top of that there were many characters who you couldn't help but like, including two of the most popular pilots of all time: Domon Kasshu and Master Asia. Gundam 00: If SEED was a remake of the first two Gundam series, then this is a remake of Gundam Wing, with some variations. Finally hosting a Gundam series in the A.D. timeline, this Gundam series has alot of problems that are connected to those happening right now and allows the viewer to connect with that. The characters are very similar to their Wing counter parts despite the age variations, once again each demonstrates their own unique personality and backstory that differentiates one from the other, plus there is finally a villain that you cannot justify his actions or even like him: Ali Al-Saachez, the Osama Bin Laden of the Gundam Universe! |

Hilariously, one of the main reasons everyone else likes SEED (the designs) is one of the reasons I don't. Not because the designs are bad - I love the look of most if not all of the Gundams. But because with so many epic designs, that's really the best they could do with the plot? SEED was a story I was really, really prepared to like. Especially with so many nice Gundams. So it was more of a disappointment than anything for me. EDIT: Also, hilariously? Ali is one of the most well-liked characters in all of Gundam 00, just because he's so morally reprehensible. And also because he's really good at killing the sorts of characters who usually seem to be invincible. Edited by Thuellai, Feb 4 2009, 02:40 AM.

Turn-A Gundam. To me, it was the best package of action, mecha design, and war drama elements. It's devoid of things I consider crippling in other Gundam series (overuse of angst, too much flashiness, behind-the-scenes wrangling that shows itself in the sub-par plot, etc.) and continues to have done the best job of communicating what it means to use technology for the sake of peace. What's really the biggest keeper for me, though, is the soundtrack. The work Yoko Kanno has done for Turn-A has to be one of her most underrated ever. In particular, Moon is one of my favorite insert songs in Gundam. |

I did enjoy Turn-A. Aside from the Turn-A's design, but even that was okay, it just had a weirdly skinny waist. Though to be fair, it was plenty flashy. Of course, I find the idea of using giant killer robots to achieve peace a little ridiculous, but let's be honest, the giant robots themselves are a little silly. We put up with it because we love. And yes, the soundtrack is amazing. But Yoko Kanno does some amazing work, so that's no surprise. |

Overall, my favorite is X. I like the setting, the Gundams, etc. Plus X sounds cool IMO. And Garrod can be really badass even if he's not a Newtype.  For UC, my favorite would be 0083 since I like Kou & Gato for the same reason as Garrod after all. Oh, and another one is Crossbone, because it's pirate-looking Gundams! I would be very delighted if Crossbone can make it to GM3, though the chances are quite slim since it's not animated yet... ^.^; |

X is also one of my top non UC fave although 08th MS team,and MS IGLOO can never be brought down from my top everything list the thing about X is how garrod is just a "normal folk" from the start to the end,he didn't have godlike superpowers like domon,amuro,or even *gasp* jesus yamato,the fact that he can't use the satelite system without tifa is very interesting,it adds the drama into the story and avoids spamming huge beams in every episode like wing does(and i bet SEED&GSD too) jamil is my fave character in that series though,probably because he's the "amuro+char+bright" of X,he has OYW amuro's childhood godlyness when using the G bits at the first war,he has the battle fatigue of zeta amuro,and he has char's glasses!,what's not to love? 08th MS team was one of my first gundam series,the plot was brilliant,all of the involved character is interesting,and the way they depict each episode is way from boring,its like watching platoon or tour of duty with giant robots>.<,and another plus is its a series but its NOT lenghty while MS IGLOO is just outright awesome from the get go,but only for those who digs OYW though,i can't explain much,but it once again shows that zeon aren't all bunch of bastards(gihren was>.<),and the federation aren't all knights in shining armor...... |

0079: This was within the pretty good and okay, I dont have much to say about it. Zeta: Man, this series kick major butt, it is my fav UC series. Camille getting hit by Willy Wonka, Char getting hit by Camille and forgiving him. Everyone working together in the Dakar speech. And Camille was able to take the hint from Amuro and Char about his emotions with Four. I can go on and on about how awesome this series is. ZZ: I watched all of it,I only recommend people watch the beginning d skip to the end. (or watch the part where Camille reah out to Judau I guess) Stardust Memory: Gato was great, I love how they fought it out at the end. 08th MS team: I like the love story behind this? It was okay I guess. Victory Gundam: I mean this series just grows on you, Uso haro is badass. I cant believe some many members of the strike team disappear =/, probably the most deaths next to zeta gundam. Wing: This series was made of win, Heero and Wu Fei were man badass; I love how Heero likes blowing up his gundam haha, he only cares about getting the mission completed and likes to do the impossible as a human. Seed: Fav series so far... I think, between zeta gundam and this. Seed had good designs, sexi characters like fllay; awesome fights, and good story. Good animation and targets more girls  . Rau, Athrun and Kira were the best characters in this series. Seed Destiny: wow, this series is trash, it's trash among trash. I could go on and on about how I hate the core impulse block system which takes 20-44 seconds to build up. Meer died, the CagaxAsrun relationship didnt work out. Kira did not even get enough screentime. I only see kira appear and fight in. Kira vs Orb (1) around esp 20 and + Kira vs Stellar (2) This is like 5 or something esp later Kira vs impulse (3) 1 or 2 esp later KiraSF vs little units (4) This like 10 or 20 esp after he Freedom (2 mins) Kira vs Shinn from esp 40 and on. Wow, big disappointment, since some of the part were spend on meer (I still think she is sexi, but whatever =/) Same damn thing happened, destroy Earth alliance and ZAFT super weapon, pe pe pe pe. 00: I never really liked the first season, too much talking. I never liked Aker mask either until esp 18. Gundam X:Zombie bits and Tiffa! the frost brothers were amazing in the way they wanted to surpass newtypes. The Dome gave a go defnition of a newtype. To be fair about Seed Destiny, Shinn Asuka bombed as a character when the designers thought that he would be a big hit, so they brought Kira back. He wasn't really meant to be in Destiny at all. The series as a whole is pretty poor though, I like the girls and the mecha designs however. |

The only Gundam series I've seen was Gundam Wing so I guess thats my fav. Though I really want to watch mobile suit zeta Gundam as I just think the Zeta Gundam rocks! |

Heero Zero go watch Zeta then. I happened to like Zeta Gundam Series a lot for the mobile suits and story line and characters... although I had a few issues with Kamille but still a good series.

maybe 00 for many reason that i can think of - - Z and Crossbone both come in 2nd because Z is too drama Crossbone is too short and didn't become anime(it must be the most if it has anime) |
