that looks amazing. it appears she airbrushed/stenciled the pattern around the bottom of the skirt, and that hair ornament is really spectacular. i just wish she'd sanded the bottoms of her painted shoes so you could'nt tell they were painted., that is my only complaint. it's brilliant, and so is she. EDIT:wow, i'm good, i just read her description and that's JUST what she did, with the airbrush. hey Kuni, can you let her know we LOVE it, and she should become a member here. eh...if you know her. Sometimes alterations like that are done intentionally. Depends on the cosplayers comfort level. I think for my Yue Ying cosplay, I made the length of her dress a couple inches longer. I didn't want pervs trying to see my ass hanging out (even though I wore black short underneath anyway). This cosplayer did a phenomenal job, thanks for sharing Kuni, and pass along our comments if you can. The white to blue color gradient is really pretty. I love the headdress as well. That's how to show respect for the cosplayer/artist/owner of the pictures *bows*. *** I like that costume a lot, especially the accessories (I immediately noticed the shoes, great job on them)! By the way, from reading what the cosplayer said in Cosplay.com, she seems a helpful person, nice ^^. |

Yeah this picture doesn't do the shoes the greatest justice, but most of them time she'd probably be standing on them, so I don't think it's too big of a deal. What I love is the over accuracy here, accuracy is a BIG DEAL to me (perfectionistwhut). I'll pass along the supportive comments through my cosplay.com account. Though its not so visibly obvious, I think she went to a lot of effort fitting the dress to her body shape - that's really important and gives her a really sleek look. I'd even say she looks prettier than the real Zhen Ji

You know you have a good point there. I think she has an aesthetic quality that makes her prettier than Zhen Ji because she seems much more approachable. With the characterization Koei gave her, she comes across as very cold and distant, but this cosplayer looks very friendly and approachable which in turn, looks attractive to me. It's true that a smile is one of the most beautiful/sexy things a person can wear. |

Really nice job on the costume there. I have to wonder where you can buy fabric like that. Do you have it custom-made? I figure that's the main hindrance to good cosplay -- expensive custom-made outfits. |

Seeing as she lives in the USA, I would bet she gets 90% of her materials from JOanne's fabrics or similar stores. Some larger cities are lucky enough to have fabric districts, but sadly Pennsylvania where I live is VOID of any love of fabric. We just make...snack food and furniture. |

When you're dealing with the way someone looks it never hurts to err on the side of kindness. She's a beautiful young woman who'se been linked to this page as part of 'full disclosure' for using her image and it's just not nice to say. Not to mention his comment had nothing to do with cosplay, so it was negative, and off-topic. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it, right? Especially when people's looks, which can only be affected so much, come into play. It's hurtful and I'd say the same thing to anyone who same the same thing. |

You live in Pennsylvania, too? I am in York County, just above Baltimore, so it's ~45 minutes to Maryland for me. It's a wonder how anyone can make a real-life Zhen Ji costume like that. |

I'm near Reading, PA so it's like...three hours to Maryland for me. But I'll be interning in D.C. so hopefully I will be able to just get on the Metro to get there, even if I can't cos I can hang out. XD the costume is tricky that for sure, but totally possible. It just takes massive amounts of determination and patience. |

Kuni is right guys, there's no need to comment on the aesthetically nature of someone's physical appearance here, cosplay is all about the art of costuming. It is pretty exciting (to me anyway) that KOEI cosplay has grown so much over the years... I remember during the days of DW4, the only DW cosplay costumes I could ever find images of were from Japan. Hooray for North America and UK cosplayers! Too bad she didn't have time to create the whip. However, I know that creating the costume itself takes up the majority of your time when completing a cosplay for an event. Haha, my friend's dad was nice enough at the time to carve us wooden bows the time we did our Yue Ying and SSX cosplays. Even though they didn't resemble the game's bows very accurately, it was still more fun to be able to pose with a weapon. XD Edited by Manji, Apr 4 2009, 01:15 AM.
