I've read that defeating all unit types unlocks the Adaga Spear page, and leading all unit types unlocks the Fire Spear page. I've been slogging through 3-star fame (currently avoiding doing the Battle of Orleans while I work on unlocking guns), but I've already seen Adaga spearmen on the battlefield - I've even gotten their shield/spear weapon as a drop, but I think they stink. I'm pretty sure that I've already defeated at least one of every book type (from knives, chariots, engineers, magic, arqubusiers, etc), which is why I worry. Whatever the Fire Spears are, they've got to be better than the extremely slow, ineffective Adaga. However, I've only got one page of "this volume has been lost" in the spear tome. Is this a "you get one or the other"? Or can I stop worrying about it and get both? So far, this is what I've been able to figure out on general tome drops: Starting Tomes: Swords, Horses, Bows * 1 star: Knives, Spears, Halberds, Axes, Clubs ** 2 Star: Rapiers, Pikes (long spears) *** 3 Star: Horsebows, Camels **** 4 Star: Magician Currently Unknown: Elephant, Chariot, Explosive/Engineer Requires absurdly long sequence of quests that doesn't even start until 3 star: Rifles Edited by Ganheim, Feb 23 2009, 11:24 PM.

You do get both...the Fire Spears page is part of the explosives book...along with rifles and hand cannons. So yes, you do get both, and to be honest, I think the Adaga are quite useless also  and I also havent managed to get the Fire Spears myself :whistles: I just know that thats where it goes

I was about to edit this to say I realized that "Fire Spear" probably referred to explosives, but there's already been an answer. I've gotten most things, and discovered that while a large number of things are random drops (pretty much all of the tomes), they're easy to get if you're a 'hero hunter' because loot dropped by anybody with a name floating over their head is generally good stuff. That's how I got 10 gems before halfway through 3 star fame. The diamond from the entrepreneur was irritating because, although I got it early last time, he waited for at least a dozen contracts before he resurfaced for his fourth and final appearance. I wish they would have a fixed 'show up after the next battle', because I finished the 5th Aegis shard in 2 star fame and I'm still waiting for the blacksmith to show up with my shield. |
