Just wondering what those games are like? Sure I can read up on them, but what's more fun than having people tell me! Anyway I do have some questions regarding Empires. Is the game play like the regular dynasty warriors and is it coop? obviously it isn't out yet so just answer the question based on past empire games. =) |

It still is a DW game but with more strategic feel to it! The meat of the game is the Empire mode where you play as one of the warlords and try to conquer China! Before each battle you can choose to do certain things using strategy cards, things like increasing tax (to get gold and you use it to buy more cards), raise troops, find and recruit officers and much much more! You can also stock up some strategy cards which you can use during the game to change the tide of war. It'll take all day just to go through each card since there are quite a lot in DW5E alone (there are even more in SW2E)! Another good thing about the Empires games is the CAW system! Yup, you can make and customize your own warriors! DW5 CAW is decent but DW6 is going to take it to next level. Just can't wait! ![]() I hope I've given you some ideas how a Empires is about but I'm sure someone else can do a better job! Edited by StrikeForce9, Mon Mar 23, 2009 10:46 am.

Believe it or not, DW6 is the closest non Empires title to a prior Empires title - if that makes sense. I'll just extend a bit on what StrikeForce said. In battle your emphasis is taking the enemy bases one by one, and you can order your allies to attack certain bases, protect certain bases, or the game with enemy officers. For once you can control what your allies do, perhaps you want them all to defend your bases, spread them out, or send them all to attack one base at a time, you get the full freedom of choice. But you can't simply tell everyone to attack the main base, that is suicide, bases as linked to each other, progressively get the bases nearest your own and expand, only when you have a base near the enemies main base can you attack it. I think it's the best way to play the Empires titles, you don't have to worry about some moron leader getting his a$$ handed to them for been stupid, just attack who and where you want - and the same applies to everyone else in your army. |

The Empires part of the dynasty warriors series is kinda like a huge risk game, but when your nation attacks another nation u dont roll dice, but rather you fight the battle out in dynasty warriors style hack and slash |

Spamming your way to 25 posts eh? Anyway, to add even more a little like what topnotch was referring too, you can also make alliances, or even break alliances to add even more of a strategy element to it. You can request aid from your allies in battle to get 2 units to support you are re-reinforcement's from allies as well, or simply assist one of your allies in either attack or defense - which yields a handy reward of more cash if successful. If you are really manipulative you can ally several areas, and be selective of who you help or not to prevent other armies getting too big. Empires is just so flexible, I love it! |

Well, from the sound of it, I like the whole telling troops to go palces and defend and such. That would've been so useful in DW 6. Now I guess I got another question. Can you still participate in the fights at all? Like actually play as a general and just do stuff? And also if you can, has it been coop in the past? |

Yes and yes. You're still in the battle playing just like in the normal DW games. The Empires games have included Co-Op starting from DW5E, where Player 2 can jump in for battles. |

Yet, in a battle it is still possible to do nothing at all in the stage. I've seen my friend to a 15 min skrmish battle, and all he did was just stand there, switching to the status screen to give orders, and he won the battle without himself ever getting a single KO. |

That is what makes Empires so awesome, if you prepare your team well you can win without the need for you to do anything. Preparation is just as important as the battle itself in Empires, I love that strategic element about it. |

hmm, another 25 post spammer? well heres some examples at the features of an empires game, this one being sw2e: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCz5P5Qpv5Y&feature=related as you can see, you can clearly fight on the battlefield. the Strategy Phase of an empires game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8qB8_wKaKs&feature=related creating your own character (tho sw2e is probably the worst one to do it in, due to limited appearance options) btw, this vid is in japanese so dont try to understand what it says http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTu1O_eEYn0 and last, some sort of review made by a dude with bad taste in music lol. but it does show alot of aspects of the game, even caw in english. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eR3-NX9J8I |

Lol.I can tell you if you buy an Empires game, you'll get addicted to it quickly.I have a high level of recommendation of an Empires game.(Except for DW4:E;I didn't played that.) You'll love the C.A.W mode as well.:) Somemore in the coming DW6:E,there are 100 SLOTS FOR C.A.W!MEANING 100 C.A.W CHARACTERS CAN PLACED IN THE WHOLE CHINA!XD The strategic side of the game is good as well...tactics(and maybe formations as well since Samurai Warriors 2:Empires had formations in them;it gives you for e.g. ATK+1,DEF+1 etc. etc.) Issuing orders, tactics and much more features in this game will make you pretty addicted to it quickly.Fine I'll just make it short and sweet...Its fun and addicting Lol.Guess I was too excited EDIT:And oh yeah, welcome to the forums

Btw, It is worth noting that While DW5E currently has the best create a character and more characters to play as, SW2E has the most polished gameplay and strategy mechanics. ESP the follow command. In DW5E, they sort of barely follow you, but in SW2E, they are always right behind you. |

SW2E was also a lot more helpful to newcomers or those people just new to the Empires franchise. Help texts were scattered throughout the modes. Though of course it's all in the manuals anyway, nobody really reads them before putting in the game. I think we'll keep this topic here as it's good referrence to more people who wish to know. |

Is the DW empires games like the SW empires games? Or I should say, are the SW ones like the DW ons since DW empires came out before SW empires? |

Basically, yes. The whole linking your base to the enemies applies in both games. As well as the diplomacy and tactical side of things. Yet the Samurai Warriors series always tends to be ahead in terms of strategies and improvements. |

Some landmarks and things will be turned into bases. For example, those little town gate things in the Nanman stage? They turn into plain old bases. |

this was useful - i've never played empires before either. now, um, can i ask how do you unlock the normal characters? i haven't seen any information on this (although i suppose i could have just missed it) do you unlock them by playing certain stages, or do you have to hire them or something? is it a random thing? |

The normal characters? Gan Ning and the playables in the Warriors games need to be hired by recruiting them through several ways. Sometimes depending on the campaign you'll have them from the start, whereas others you'll have to wait to a certain year has passed, or you've found them amongst an area by conquering it. Same applies to the generics like Cao Hong, Li Dian, etc. |

I'm really looking forward to DW6:E More so for the character creation, it's something I'm a bit of a sucker for. Even in the RTK series, I like to just make my own group of officers and see how well I can do. I'd have to say that the Empires games are what I feel easiest just jumping into here and there without much care. The usual Warriors games seem to have a little too much pressure in the levels for me to just pick up and play them. Not that it's a bad thing for when I'm in for a tactical fight. |

Just to add on to what you were saying, it's random, but most characters will be found in the territory they historically served in. So if you conquer parts of the territory normally held by Wu, you can get Gan Ning or Huang Gai, etc. |
