Only on my days off do I work myself into exhaustion... but by Grabthar's hammer, at least ALL of the laundry is done and the kitchen and my bedroom is cleaned.

@WL May I tell you that art commissions mostly involve digital art? Man I hate commissions with a passion despite being a longtime dA member that nearly quit the site once during my early deviant days there.

F**k paying with real money in the internet. So not gonna do it.

You want happy ending? :P

Kenji: I don't do "commissions" on the internet, but I do make paintings for people to hang on the wall locally. I find something physical and tangible has much more value than some pixels on a screen, and people are willing to pay more money for it.

Digital art is just another medium to use. Paying someone to do digital art is still paying that person for their time and effort and possibly to use the program in which to make the art with. Just because it isn't 'physical' doesn't make it any less art.

HOWEVER, those that overcharge for digital art are pretty bad. $300 for a digital sketch? No thank you.

I never said digital art didn't have value, I said traditional art has more.

Traditional art is paying someone for their time and effort PLUS a physical product you can own.

Then I misunderstood your statement and for that I apologize.

I see your point, however, physical art can have disadvantages as well. Could get destroyed or damaged, or even lost, whereas digital art has the benefit of remaining on a harddrive, cloud, or somewhere online. Sure, I suppose one could go forth and try and remove all evidence of it, but why go through all the hassle to do that?

Oh well, to each his own. No one wants my paintings and shipping them out to clients would be such a hassle and would cost me and the client more. Like hell I want to risk some USPS clown wrecking the piece before it got to the client...

But that only adds to its value, it's delicate and fragile and most often one of a kind.

How much can something be worth if you can just copy it infinitely with two clicks of a mouse? How much is air worth?

Of course I don't do mail orders, only local pickups. The kind of paintings I do can't be reproduced digitally, even photographs of them don't reproduce the special effects I use, which is why people are willing to shell out more money. You have to see them in person to get the full effect, so mail orders are out of the question anyway.

I only have a few of my drawings given away or destroyed. Or like my pre-dA member drawings (childhood stuff), completely gone. :(

I like both digital and traditional. But some of the traditional art in dA look crap.

Hey, don't tell Nestle how much air might be worth. They're already draining California dry, the last thing we need is them getting the idea that air's marketable. We don't truly need Spaceballs up in here, do we?

Anyway, I don't feel like debating the topic right now because it brings up bad memories of my failed attempt at painting and how I'm simply meant only for dinky character art that has no value outside of DA or anime conventions, so, I'll simply say you're right and move on.

However, I am happy for your own success, though. Keep it up!

Man, I really suck at painting my nails. One day with the new coat and they're already chipped.

Being a pretty woman is hard. Video games always make it look easy.
