Also, what should I make of the fact that the tribe itself is multiethnic? I don't hear any of the SJWs complaining about that. Maybe they should be arguing that the whole group of tribal warriors should have been completely homogeneous.

It's clear that Pan takes some inspiration from earlier fiction but also has a few of its own ideas about who the characters are supposed to be.

This is the mini comic contents:
Keiji IIs shirtless and flexing for a group of pretty girls .
The girls all giggle and flirt obviously interested .
Mitsunari happens to walk out reading a scroll.
The girls look between Keiji and Mitsunari back and forth several times.
The girls walk PAST Keiji to flirt with Mitsunari instead.
Keiji slumps his shoulders in defeat.
Mitsunari walks off with his new harem.

Yes the entire tribe are called native americans in the version of the novel I read, i distinctly remember this because my english class had an entire lesson based on offensive depictions of native americans in two of the novels we read that year, Brave NEw world, and PEter Pan, maybe in other versions she isnt described as Native American but what the author was doing with that tribe was very clear.

Of course seterotypes themselves are not necessarily inherently racist, but there is defintiely a line between offensive and inoffensive steroytypes, sometime that line can be a little bit thin, but usually using common sense you can determine if something is racist or not, having a native american character act within some inoffensive native american steroytpes isnt really an issue, or shouldnt be logically, but people are not always logical so whatever. That being said, the solution to this issue isnt just to stamp a different ethnicity onto a different culture thus magically making it not racist, the solution is to not include offensive sterotypes and language into your film, and its not a difficult thing to do, we have access to a lot mroe knowledge nowadays, we are not ignorant of native american culture, we have an open dialect with native americans now and we actually listen to them, the tools necessary to make this depiction of them not racist were there, they didnt bother to use them. Its not liek thsi was to be a word for word book to film adaptation, in which case i could understand some racism in the name of the original art source, you cna enjoy art regardless of its glaring flaws and that includes offensive material, but this is a prequel and thoguh i havent seen it i imagine its quite liberal with its faithfulness to the original novel.

Again what has made the depiction of Tiger Lily racist in previous inncarnations was language in the novel and some films im sure calling native americans things such as dull, ignorant, or barbaric, or blantant misunderstanding of native american culture and rituals, what was racist was never the fact that they were "too native american-y" which seems to be what you are assuming.

but thats all im really going to say about this topic, if you dont se eit that way, thats your choice, but at the same time you absolutely cannot change my stance on this.

only if you see arguing as just a way to change someones mind, but it can also be useful just to test your knowledge on something, or learn other people's viewpoints
