I thought Honey Belle threatened to suspend me when I finally read the PM chain we have. Good thing I'm wrong. And I just wanna forget about the days I wasn't here before Cebby's birthday.
:o I've never done that, dear, and I never would :pat: I hope you didn't really believe it! So sorry if I made you feel that way :(
Sorry for the late reply. Preparations and chores took my time.

Anyway, that thought reminded me of the times when mods PM me first rather than the other way around. And that was when my bratty old self caused chaos.

You're not really at fault though. I was a little pessimistic.

I don't complain or get offended by anything I see on the internet. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion and I try to respect all of them, or ignore the ones I don't like. But something's been happening consistently over the past few weeks that just breaks my heart. One of my closest friends has been showing strong support for Donald Trump's political party, including the obscene (because I consider them to be obscene) statements he's made about Mexicans/Hispanics and Islam in particular. She and I differ on a lot of things, and none of it, including her support for Trump, ever mattered to me because our friendship was never based on our commonalities or opinions.

But ever since Trump called for the banning of Muslims from entering America and wanting them to start wearing identifying symbols, which most of my Facebook newsfeed vehemently rose up against and condemned, all I've been seeing from her are anti-Muslim statuses and posts, supporting his statements and decrying Islam in general. I'm surprised and hurt that after over seven years of friendship, which began when we were both teenagers, nothing about me or my actions has taught her anything.

Others may not agree when I say this, but I feel as if I've failed in some way for her to believe these things despite our closeness. Does she mean to say I don't belong in the same country as her either? That I should be made to wear an identifier? The cruel, foul and ignorant things I've seen and heard strangers say about my faith roll off me like they're nothing now. But seeing a treasured friend behave in this way and the possibility of losing a seven year friendship has left me broken-hearted.
First of all, I'm sorry this is happening to you

Secondly, it's not your failure this individual has turned to such actions/words

When I see some of the anti-Islamic vitriol even on here in the Debates section, I'm often reminded of the many members here of Islamic faith and how they absolutely are polar opposites to what these people say, especially you.

If you want to talk more about it, my Inbox is always open
Bell, at no point must you believe that you failed anybody. In fact, it's the reverse that's true; your friend failed you.
As a Mexican-American, I do not have a high opinion of Donald Trump for wanting to invoke the same racial atrocities that have happened 100 years ago here in the United States. Donald Trump is a fear-mongering fool that is fueling the ethnocentric xenophobia of the masses in my country, and as a member of the U.S. Armed Forces, I will not stand for him. Look up the Mexican Repatriation Act of 1929 and Operation Wetback in conjunction with the Japanese Internment Camps. I'm both proud and not proud of my country, and the most I can do is spread the word that xenophobia is obsolete.

You spoke so eloquently just now about xenophobia, it really is admirable  I'm sorry for all the things you have to go through as a Mexican American, thanks to all this nonsense he's stating :(

A rematch of the (in)famous 1995 Stanley Cup Finals to take your attention for a bit! :hehe: :hehe:

:( That does suck about your friend. :( I've been thinking of pastor Martin Niemoller's comment in WW2 about the Nazis and changing the words:

First they went for the Mexicans, and I didn't say anything because me no habla Espanol.

Second, they went for the Muslims, and I didn't say anything because I don't recite the Quran.

Then, they went for the African Americans, and I didn't say anything because I couldn't dunk.

Then, they went for the Chinese Americans, because Trump sure said a LOT about China in his remaining speeches. "Zai jian, gu lao rou..." (Goodbye, sweet and sour pork...)

Finally, he went for the white liberals, and there was no one left to defend them, because no one could sell hummus at Whole Foods anymore without being accused of being a traitor...

(Well ok I spiced it up some :hey: but you get my point  )

Update: Hey hey what do you say, the Devils just scored! :hehe:  Hope you liked it

Them winning would be the second-most perfect comfort through all this, the first being all of you awesome people on here
