So, how many foreigners did you step on along the way to amassing your ridiculous net worth? I bet it took a lot of white boys to build that fancy Trump Tower ...
Now, now, Honda-san, his grandparents didn't come all the way from Germany just to watch America get overrun by immigrants! :beard:
C'mon sass

Tell them the truth hunty

I love seeing this hypocrisy of some white Americans get called out. It's like they have no memory of before 50 years ago, they've completely forgotten the boat trip *sips tea*
Heheh, making you proud

I don't even like limiting it to "white" Americans, because the overwhelming majority of white Americans (at least as far as I know) totally condemn his words :/ He has non-white supporters too, surprisingly :o

If Trump becomes President, I wonder how he's gonna deport me. (:
Koreans can stay. I love them. They do a good job for me and I ate Korean barbeque just the other week. Plus the Kpop girls are hot and that's enough of a reason for me to keep them around.
This killed me, omg :XD

Ma Chao definitely seems like he would be a Trump supporter.

Can someone explain to me why and how has Sanders gained the young people's support?

Weed, and when he talks to young people about politics, he doesn't sound like he's talking to his pet dog.
Also he's not nearly as embarrassing as Clinton and her attempts to be hip and cool.

For similar reasons as Trump.

nobody likes the fact that corporations in this country can spend unlimited amounts of money on politicians by establishing political action committees. Lobbyists have way too much power in this country. In fact, in my state when we lowered term limits, they were practically writing all the legislation for a time; they actually had more political experience than the rotating rookie politicians.

Sanders and Trump are tapping into widespread anger in this country regarding the fact that corporations and billionaires have way too much power.

this lady asked to buy cigarettes last night, so I asked to see her ID which annoyed her because she left it out in her car

so she came back in with it, slammed it on the counter, and when she saw I was about to swipe it, she was like "don't scan it!!!! that's how the government tracks you, please don't scan it!" so I just manually entered it

Yeah Sanders appeals to the issues a lot of young people, especially poor or marginalized young people, face and care about, hence the outpour of support. And we have proof he's not just saying **** as lip service and he actually believes what he's saying, given he's has basically the same political ideologies for decades and has never taken corporate backing.

On the flipside, like Swan said, Hillary gets little support because she talks to young people as if we're self-absorbed dumbasses who only care about the Facebooks and iphones and "on fleeks" or whatever. We're not, we're just tired of our voices not mattering and we don't have proof under her that our voices would matter any more than under someone else also backed by corporations. And while she claims to be all about social issues, she's only made it an issue when it was clear she wouldn't get Democratic support without supporting those thoughts- remember, at one point, she was vehemently anti-gay marriage... now all of a sudden she's for it. I WONDER WHY...

His support for legalization of marijuana wins over a few people who otherwise don't care about politics, but it's not the reason for his popularity.

You have to understand how political rebellion movements work in this country. First a group protests, then they are stamped as rogues and fizzle out. Finally, the remnants of their supporters and ideology trickle into the mainstream two party system and change the system.

Bernie Sanders is the successor to the failed Occupy Wall Street insurrection. That revolt was a disorganized, colossal failure, but it completely changed the rhetoric and mindset of politics. The "1%" became a talking point, Wall Street became an object of hatred and corporations and Citizens United became popular targets. The movement itself was dead at launch, but its ideas are now Bernie Sanders' stump speech.

It's easy to find similar historical analogies in American history. The populist movement of the late 19th century failed to really dent the two party system. However, the movement eventually resulted in Democratic candidate William Jennings Bryant running on an entirely populist platform around 1896 (and again on several other occasions). Bernie Sanders is a modern-day William Jennings Bryant.

She's such a despicable liar. She came out strongly against gay marriage all throughout the 90s. She's not a civil rights hero either. She was campaigning for Barry Goldwater at the time of the civil rights movement while Bernie Sanders was leading sit-ins at the University of Chicago. Barry Goldwater was running on a platform in favor of repealing the Civil Rights Act. She also referred to young black kids as superpredators and thought they needed to be brought to heel. She endorsed federal policies that resulted in the largest mass incarceration of black people in the history of this country.

She's not a friend of LBGT, blacks, Latinos or poor people. She's only a friend of her corporate donors and the corrupt DNC.

I'm not talking about why Bernie is popular in the grand scheme, I'm specifically talking about my generation. And my generation puts a lot more focus on social issues, rather than economic, international, etc. And he's been ringing all the right bells.

And him not speaking down to my generation is definitely very flattering, especially given that's he older. One of the major turnoffs with politics for me is that they'll say "the future is you" but then blame us for all the problems that they created. Sanders has done a nice job actually reaching out to us.

Don't get me wrong, I like his views on economics and that's definitely what made stay supporting him. But the main reason he's captured the attention of my generation is because he's treating us like the adults we are, instead of children.

I agree and disagree.

Social issues are bigger for young people who live in bigger cities and are more affluent. That explains his appeal to the middle class.

But Sanders' appeal is much broader than that. He's tapping into widespread disillusionment toward economic inequality. You're also underestimating the political knowledge of the young people who actually turn out to vote, many of whom are college students who are more politically informed than the older generation (due to usage of the Internet). These people care more about economic issues and international issues than you think.

Sanders and Trump are not polar opposites or bizzaro versions of each other. They are sending out widely similar messages about unfair distribution of power and the corrupting influence of wealth in politics. The reason they seem dissimilar is because one is a xenophobic modern-day Denis Kearney and the other is trying to get people of all backgrounds, genders, religions, orientations, etc. to stand together.
