Ice is really only bad because Water types have access to their best moves. Honestly if Game Freak just limited the amount of Water types that had access to Ice moves and limited the Ice moves they can learn, Ice would in a much better place. Adding a type is a bit too grand when Ice is really the only typing in a weird spot, and the only one yearning for a buff. The problem with the type solution that Ryo posted 1. Electric doesn't need to be nerfed. 2. Fighting has enough checks with Psychic, Flying, and Fairy. 3. Dragon doesn't need another thing to be 2x effective against. |

Uh..no? In the Pic i posted, Dragon RESIST Rubber. I think Ice needs resistance to Normal type. |

Oh my bad, still doesn't make it good. Why would Rubber resist Dragon? Like that's so random. |

Gimme my radioactive/nuclear type gamefreak. ![]() They gotta buff ice types though. Make them resist water and dragon and limit access to ice beam for every goddamn water type then they're probably set. oh yeah, normal type could use some buffs at this point. Originally they were supposed to be the type with wide movepools but no strengths from STAB moves. Now everything has wide movepools so normal is kinda garbage. Rubber sounds like an Pokémon innuendo. "Going to breed me a Shiny using a Ditto and a Rubber." |

The Ice pokemon Game Freak makes don't really fit what Ice should be, and that's another big problem with the typing. Ice is an amazing offensive typing, but yet they keep trying to make bulky defensive Ice types like Lapras, Dewgong, and Avalugg. The speedy offensive ones are actually pretty useable like Weavile, and that one has a 4x weakness to one of the most common offensive types in the game, Fighting. |

Ice was meant to be the type that was strong offensively and weak defensively, but the idea is a farce because it just makes it so that the best way to use ice is to use a Pokemon that is NOT an ice type but has access to ice moves. The only really good ice Pokemon is Mamaswine. |

Which is why I say limit the amount of Ice type moves Water pokemon have access to. There's really no reason why like every Water type needs Ice Beam. Mamoswine is an offensive powerhouse, it works well with what it has, two phenomenal offensive typings. Just like Weavile. |

I think they should redo the resistances of ice types though. I don't think the solution is just to work with the current type they have and try to make speedier, more offensively oriented Pokemon. I think since there are already a bunch of bulky ice types, they should try to make them better by improving their type's strengths.
Yeah I agree with you on that. Edited by Rance, Thu Mar 3, 2016 6:10 pm.

Oh I forgot about Cloyster. Cloyster is actually pretty terrifying in the right hands. It can put you into a lose/lose situation with the combination of ice shard (to force switch outs) and shell smash. I've been swept by it before. |

Remove nearly all Ice Type moves from Water Type level move pools, restrict Water Types learning them through TMs. I do feel guilty I taught my Omanyte and Omastar Ice Beam though. |

Yeah adding a type seems a bit much when we just got Fairy. I guess fixing up movepools could help in that regard. It does seem weird for stuff like Seaking and Crawdaunt to be able to summon up a Blizzard. ... looking at it, sheesh, there are a lot of Pokemon that have nothing to do with winter or cold climates that can use Blizzard. I mean, Marowak and Rhydon??? At least Rhydon knowing how to swim makes sense but it's based on a rhino and lives in the savannah/scrubland.... Where it never snows. |
