SK gives me much internal conflict. On the one hand it's such a fun series and the characters are all wonderfully fleshed out. Plus Daidouji. And most people I know personally who like it are women so I don't feel TOO bad. On the other hand the blatant oversexualized marketing and in-game cheesecake **** is just so skeevy that I'm afraid of being judged for playing it and that in of itself makes me not want to. Uuuuuuggh |

Yeah, that's one of the best things they added. I'm actually only just starting my Scholar NG+, so maybe I'll change my mind on Scholar being worthwhile if they did anything else particularly interesting with that, but somehow I doubt it. They won't have done any huge changes. Yeah, every other multi-boss, even one as basic as that Rat boss with 3 tiny rats, are horrible. Freja it actually felt like the multi part WAS the boss fight. Get Freja alone and she's easy, but you have to keep dealing with the spiders. Freja themselves will also knock the spiders around a lot, and those spiders did deal ridiculous damage too so each individual one could be fatal. Removing the spiders from the equation just by holding a torch seems ridiculous. Although they did need that mechanic after they like tripled the number of spiders. I mean that room with the 3rd bonfire that had like 4 spiders drop down suddenly becomes like 10 of them in that tiny room. That was a real pain in the arse to deal with when not using a torch. They used that formula for Iron Keep too, just doubled the amount of Alonne Knights present. Those 2 zones definitely got lazy changes. Iron Keep was always my least favourite default zone to progress through and it became so much worse. Not looking forward to NG+ version. |

Yeah the spiders with freja were all pretty manageable too, theres so much space, theyre slow, they dont have much defense, its not like those curse dogs with the royal rat authority, that **** is bananas when i read they were adding/chancing enemies i knew there would inevitably just be real awful lazy changes like just dumping an excessive amount of enemies in one area, im not surpised the mroe i ehar about it, im just surprised people pretended like it amke ds2 so much better |

They threw all their particularly interesting changes at the start, like Forest of Fallen Giants and Heide's Tower of Flame. Those ones are genuinely pretty interesting in places. The further you go, the less they are. Some changes are more weird than anything else. Like in NG in it's entirety I didn't fight one of those Abomination guys which used to be before Lost Sinner (and one caged in Aldia's Keep). Didn't see a single one, a Flexile Sentry replaced them before Sinner. Kind of makes sense, but still weird. They also added a ton of statues that need branches of yore, but they're all the same type of enemy, one of the generic guys in your starting set from the tutorial zone. I mean you can't even fight the Ruin Sentinels without one now. The Crypt had some nice changes actually, so it is a bit mixed where, but many of them aren't great. whaaaat that jsut sounds like a straight up terrible decision sounds like they just acknowledge how unfair and unbalanced a fight ruin sentinels is that early in the game lol but doesnt that like,make heides and the warf pointless? idr if you can get around without killing sentinels or pursuer idk my memory of DS2 is pretty bad |

maybe branches are easier to get then, cause in vanilla game there was like 5 and most of them in the latter half like getting your first 2 was a bit of a struggle |

They also added in a ton more branches to even that particular decision out, but it's definitely weird. You also can't walk the basic way in the Dragon Aerie anymore without a branch, but the shortcut ladder starts down. Basically it lets you skip the entire zone in Scholar for some reason... And actually, it makes the Wharf less pointless if anything. Pursuer's route leads you to Ruin Sentinels and McDuff, but if you don't have a branch you're stuck. You can get the key there though which lets you open the side bit to that wee open area with the dogs (where the Wanderer set is if you knock down a brick in a well). So when you come in from the other side, you go there, open that up with the key and go into the room which had the Twinblade and stuff if I remember right. If you used a Pharros Lockstone you could open a way with a lift up to just before Straid, but now it's just open regardless. Another odd choice really, but it means you can just skip Ruin Sentinels with no item usage required. Edited by Sanada, Sun Apr 3, 2016 4:53 am.
