wtf dragon aerie is like my favourite area thats disappointing ok yeah, im trying to like, repiece together the bastille in my mind and its a struggle, so i'll assume im wrong lol yeah was about to say locking both paths with a lockstone or a branch seems stupid, but if one is open then it makes sense, even if its a completely redundant and pointless change |

I'm trying to remember other random statues. Dragon Aerie and Ruin Sentinel's are definitely the weirdest 2 to me, along with them blocking off one of the tutorial fog gates with one (the one that leads to the sex change coffin). Oh yeah, they also blocked off the cliff passage to get to the Bonfire literally right before The Rotten. Without a branch need to traverse the entire of Black Gulch for each attempt. Not that he'll take multiple attempts with how easy he is, but still. Although some actual interesting changes actually come with Amana and the Crypt. I mean it's just Dragon Rider, but you have a Dragon Rider guarding that bridge in Amana that leads to Vendrick's Soul and equipment now. Also have one guarding the Velstadt fogwall, so guarding Vendrick's body and soul basically. |

nooo what the hell the sex change coffin is a hilarious way to start the game, everyone makes their shitty waifus and then accidentally turn into a man, the salt was delicious and that jsut soundsso dumb an unnecesary. but aww@the dragonrider thing, i like that. its ok, lucatiels story is boring just like the rest of tha game's story

I mean technically you could have bonfire Asceticed any of the bosses she's summonable for (Flexile, Smelter, Rotten or Sinner), but not sure where you are progression wise now. Probably too late. Theoretically can beat the same boss 3 times and it'll be complete. Edited by Sanada, Sun Apr 3, 2016 5:05 am.

I did like the touch that those extra Pursuers start buffed up. Regular one buffs if he impales you with curse, but all of them are buffed to start. Never actually fought the buffed version, so he actually caught me off guard at first. His projectile move is so easily exploitable though since he can't hit behind him when he does it, and it's the only real change. |

The one guarding Belfry Luna was the most tolerable one because he left right away as soon as you climbed the ladder again. |

This just came across my dash and seemed... relevant.![]() Censored for ZetaBoards' standards I know it's all fiction. I'm more concerned about what others will think of me, and how blatant it is, than anything else. I'm very worried by how others think of me... |

Reminds me that I'll need to beat the Pursuer duo for Ring of Blades +2 again... I've fought like 20 of them already between NG and NG+. Although the duo will still be a pain in the arse, because of them being a duo and all. As a whole I think I'd rate Scholar above the regular game, but I think it'd have been worse to be the first version I played. In general you just have more enemy variety though. You see more of those Shadow set guys for instance, have a few waiting at the cliffside where you ring the bell to call the ship in in the Wharf, one amongst all the manikins in the Earthen Peak, one inside that room I mentioned earlier with the lift up to near Straid. Like the rarely used enemies are now actually used in some places basically. Except those abomination guys before Sinner, like I said, still never fought one in Scholar. |

idk it jut sounds more like a lateral change rather than a full on improvement to me, admittedly i dont have much grounds for saying that but idk\youd think rereleasing a game a full year after release, giving the liberties to pretty much change whatever they want, they'd, you know, actually make more improvements to easily the msot highly criticised game of that year, rather than making a lot of things objectively worsewell those are pretty awful enemies so its not much of a loss. I literally havent the slightest clue what their hitboxes are, they just kinda vibrate and then boom 90% f your hp is gone |

You'd love how arbitrary some of their lighting changes are. Remember the room in Forest of Fallen Giants right above the 2nd bonfire? Could break the door or open it with the Soldier key, and get an Estus Flask Shard through it. Well the room with the wagon and all that stuff right through the breakable door, if you enter the room it's like you just turned your brightness setting down a ton. Walk out the door again and it's suddenly really bright again. Leave through the door on the other side and it's also fine. Dark as **** within it though. They do such changes in a few places, although sometimes it actually makes sense. They do add a lot more reason to use the torch though as a result, it just feels arbitrary as hell sometimes. Some are genuinely nice touches, but I can't think of any off the top of my head. The Crypt and Aldia's keep add some unique mechanics regarding torches as well. If you light that huge altar thing which lights up the entirety of the Crypt basically for instance, then you get a bunch of red phantoms wearing the Insolent set that Agdayne used to sell (he no longer does) |

which makes a lot of sense considering theyre all like "light a torch and we will hurt you" but then you jsut walk 5 feet away and turn all the lights on in his house and hes just like "ok that was rude i aint gonna do nothing but it was rude" |

Yeah exactly, it's a nice touch given they ignored it originally. Aldia's is simply new. Those Forlorn guys Eni was talking about are connected to Aldia, so it does make sense in a respect, but if you light some new braziers there then it'll spawn some Forlorn. Another odd change is that the Skeletal dragon no longer activates by default. You need to light all the braziers (maybe kill all the Forlorn spawned from them?) before the skeleton dragon will move. The dragon also has the key to get the side room in Aldia's keep for some reason (the bit which had the caged giant mushroom- now a caged Gargoyle) Actually that Gargoyle fact reminded me of a cool change I thought. Drangleic castle now has a whole host of statues that come alive. From Syan Knights to Gargoyles. Oh, and it also has many statues that DON'T come alive, which is quite nice too. thats really cool, it seemed like a missed opportunity to not have different statues the aldia change seems kinda neat but its hard to imagine, id have to play it, changing the dragon skeleton also makes sense cause its really not much aof a surprise in the vanilla game, that was like, the first thing they showed off of that game IIRC so like, they ruined that surprise already lol |
