I'm not saying it was a crime, but just trying to explain why something someone said is ignorant to an ignorant person is like talking to a wall. I'm not going to go out of my way to make life easier for the ignorant person. If he wants to be more hateful, that isn't their fault, that's his.

Maybe he'll learn a lesson to not be a prick.

I also don't like how they kept calling him "Soft White Man" in the post, I mean I'd be pretty ticked off if someone ever referred to me as "Brown Girl", how is that not hypocritical :|

I have sympathy for ignorant people unless they commit an actual crime. What he did was ignorant and racist, but it wasn't a crime. Regardless, this will never change any ignorant or racist person's mentality. Just going to make him hate even more.

I also don't like that he likely wasn't the only one punished for this. He might have a family that's going to suffer right along with him.

I can agree to some extent that it's a shame on his family, but it's 2016 we can't keep making excuses for ignorant people choosing to remain ignorant. Like maybe in the 70s people could get away with "he was just raised to be racist" etc but now??? it's dated and needs to stop

I mean it's not an excuse and I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to make his life easier. I just don't think refraining from getting someone fired technically qualifies as "making someone's life easier", it just means they didn't make it worse :XD

It makes the lives of the people he was harassing easier, which is more important really

There's no excuse for him being racist though, there may be reasons, but yeah, he shouldn't have started this whole thing by insulting those girls like that. I think we can all be in agreement when I say I hope this guy stops being so hateful/ignorant/racist somehow.

Yeah, didn't make them seem all that heroic to me when they were doing similar stuff to someone else.

Firing him was maybe extreme, but it's something I can't disagree with. Dood was rood.

Like someone at work called me a *****, you'd be crazy to expect me to coddle him, a grown man, and hold his hand through this discussion as to why what he said was ignorant. And he chose to use that word and chose to be ignorant and I just happened to choose to get that ugly mess fired.

Good luck at flipping patties boo.

The thing is, he didn't really use any word or call them names... just asked them if they were Isis, which is pretty messed up and rude, but yeah. No one technically used any racial slurs except for those girls, lol.

I wouldn't call it racism when it's against someone white. Predjudice maybe? yeah, but we can't be victims of racism considering we created the whole social construct of it.

As a white guy I actually don't mind them calling him a "soft white boy" or whatever. We don't face any harm because of our race, so using it like that doesn't come close to other racial epithets. It's mean, yeah, but it's not harmful, and why should she be nice to someone who was mean to her? Sometimes you just gotta fight back against bullies and giving them a taste of their own medicine, especially if it isn't harmful, can help.

If anything I'd be more upset about the "soft" part than using white as an insult part, as if somehow guys who are "soft" are lesser people. But I realize that wasn't the intent here.

I mean I wouldn't go as far as to call "Soft White Man" a slur, but it was kinda hypocritical to keep referring to him as such.

I really wouldn't call "soft white boy" a slur. At least, not a racist one. Homophobic, or anti-feminine men, maybe.

This is very nonsensical because I can use that same logic with the word "spic".
