Korea (in laws),Germany (Aunts and Uncles),Japan (my Aunt by Marriage's family),Brazil (a Cousin,I actually wasn't aware he MOVED to Brazil until last month), Italy (No relatives but a close friend)
For you, Germany. Specifically Berlin, home of the weirdos and artsy types. They'll tolerate you :P
Italy and Brazil have poor infrastructure

Japan and S Korea are much more conservative than Anime/Kpop suggests IRL

Germany is a good mix of good infrastructure, clean air, disciplined society and individual freedom, and in Berlin you'd have less fussy "Haus-Ordnung" to deal with due to so many artists living there who are messy and stuff

I'd still recommend visiting any and all of those nations (in Brazil though I'd go with a tour and be extra-careful) because they're all cool and interesting in their own right. But living there as an expat is a totally different beast. ;)

It's time to stop defending a religion that tries to kill someone who left and can't talk truth about Islam.

In general, countries in which religion is a political force tend to be oppressive in nature, its not limited to Islam

Its that Islam is going through epochal debates about mosque and society now that dragged the European church into the mud circa 1500-1700, just with deadlier weapons :kurokan:

How about European expansion and colonization of the Americas?

Straight up genocide and ideological warfare. All in the name of religion.

Yes, I definitely say yes, Christianity clearly had a dark history as well.

The Crusades were, in a sense though:

1) To get the knights and unruly mercenaries to heel by sending them elsewhere

2) Medieval Europe was weaker than the Seljuk Turks, who were aggressively expanding and would eventually grow to become the Ottoman Empire after fits and starts. Ottoman armies would threaten Europe for centuries and would have done what the west later did, only the west managed to invent better weapons faster and eventually turned the tide...

I'm not defending the behavior of the Crusaders, who were often terrible people and did terrible things in the Siege of Jerusalem in 1099. Its that there was a political reasoning for it all, not just purely religious.

And same with the Muslim conflicts now, its more political than religious per se.

That was in the name of gold and nationalism, and only slightly the "ideology" of Christianity.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartolom%C3%A9_de_las_Casas

granted he wasn't perfect but not all of them were ********. Feel free to call the Conquistadors ******** though

The Aztecs weren't really innocent either. They were the "imperialists" locally, capturing foreigners to sacrifice to their sun god. Hence tribes like the Tlaxcala allied with the Spanish to get rid of their hated rivals. If only they knew though...

The Spanish conquest of Latin America was 90% to do with gold and greed, and only like 5-10 % to do with "spreading Catholicism". That said, it wasn't innocent, and the church should acknowledge its role in such atrocities and face it squarely.

"Ideological" warfare is always bad huh?

the American Revolution was fought under the banner of "ideological warfare"

The US, in WW2, fought the Nazis and Imperial Japanese with a strong ideology of their own, that of freedom and democracy  Of course not every soldier believed this, but it was a motivating factor for many of them, and even more so after they started liberating the death camps. Boy, how American troops HATED the Waffen-SS then! This was also "ideological" warfare, in a sense

I'm studying that right now, so yes you're right it was about gold, but they had a kill or convert mentality that involved converting the natives to their religion in order to produce a cooperative slave labor force to work the mines. They tried to erase any and all traces of existing customs, replacing or integrating remnants within Christianity.

Its not just Islam, I know

Heck, even Buddhists, seen as peace lovers in the west, are immune. In the East, where they were "the Establishment", they went to war too.

Japanese Warrior monks, for one, caused so much trouble Nobunaga had to "kill them all" to bring it to heel.

The Burmese persecution of the Rohingya Muslims under Buddhist auspices...

No religion is innocent. Yet, most people try to follow their religion/culture to be decent, so no need to be ******** to anyone of any religion or non-belief. ^_^

That was more prevalent AFTER the initial conquest, like over a period of several hundred years. The initial conquistadors didn't give a crap who believed what, they just wanted gold, lots of it, that was literally their ONLY objective. (later they found chocolate, tobacco and... wait for it... POTATOES  )

That stuff you refer to came more in the 19th century residential schools in Canada and the US. Those were absolutely horrific. I won't defend them at all

Eh, the information we're considering traces the roots for that much earlier than that, 1500s or so, but in any case, the point is there's no reason to single out Islam as all religions have their hands guilty of politically-motivated oppression.

You could throw in the Turkish-Persian wars (fought ostensibly because Turkey was Sunni and Persia was Shia, but pretty much fought for territory and political positioning)

you could mention the Albigensian Crusades where Catholics from Northern France brutally wiped out the Cathars in the 12-1300s

And remember Taira Kiyomori? The historical Taira got his start as a young samurai who was pissed off at Buddhist warrior monk's constant interference in Kyoto, so he shot an arrow right at the Buddhist statue they were carrying to "intimidate" the townspeople of Kyoto. This dissolved into a mass brawl, but Kiyomori and his men won. So, Buddhism wasn't without its crazies either
