It was originally La Mian

Then Lai Meen

Ramyeon

And Ramen

I personally like Fukuoka ramen and Hokkaido style crazy ramen with like butter (!!!) and corn in it

It just means "pulled noodles" in chinese, good shops ensure all noodles are hand made

Thanks guys :D I'll be teaching English as a second language, I've been studying the last year to qualify as an English teacher so I'll be able to travel and work. I'm so excited haha

Tbh the pay isn't great but they're covering accommodation and travel (apart from plane) so it doesn't matter. It'll be a good training role for me.

Forca Brazil!

TEFL teaching eh? That used to be one of my gigs
It can be fun, if you're the outgoing type, but make sure you have your written grammar down, sometimes that can be tricky

Good luck! :oran:

How long are you gonna be there for? A lot of people I know have went for that but mostly been for a few months. I think I've seen them go to China, Colombia, Ghana and Taiwan I think it was.

Oh I know, I've been so conscious of making sure I write everything perfectly while applying for jobs :XD Got to market yourself properly

@Reece - This position is for 6 months. I'm interested in doing this long-term if I really enjoy it, I'm going to give it a really good go anyway after the amount of training I put in so far. I also want to travel more so it's a good job for doing that.

@Kami - Cheek. You know how professional I am... ;) (that said my ex who I still talk to does live in São Paulo, didn't plan that deliberately but eh...)

I made sure to pony down on explaining WHY the grammar is like such and such, instead of just saying "thats wrong because its wrong" . native english speakers (or native speakers of whatever language they teach) sometimes get complacent and forget how to explain things in ways that make sense to non-english speakers. And I was teaching in China where I knew Chinese but I didn't want to "cheat" kinda, I wanted to be "legit english" so it was a lot more work than i thought at first.

Don't ask me to explain grammar now, I've forgotten most of THAT already :hehe:

Yeah that's really important. My course taught me some techniques on how to help the students understand the target language without just saying "it's this, this and that". Concept checking questions, pronunciation drilling etc.

How long did you do this kind of work for yourself? I didn't know you did this

Thanks Reece :D

2 years in china :XD

I dunno enough about the context in brazil to really give you a ton of help really, but will you be provided with the textbook and teacher's guide or will you have to do stuff from scratch?
Oh, and age group you will teach?

That's ok haha

Yeah I'm being informed of the curriculum structure and how they like their lessons planned as soon as I get there. I think they'll want less working straight from textbooks and more interactive lessons with activities and opportunities to use the language practically.

I've already learned to plan lessons with that format based on what I'd teach anyway, but I guess their training will help me learn their preferred styles of teaching.

I'm teaching adults, most of whom will already be pre-intermediate level.
