It's hard to believe Koei hasn't jumped on the HD Collection train, I bet an HD version of DW3, 4, 5 with the XLs included would sell gangbusters

I love how they made Lissa a war cleric and gave her an axe.

It has a lot of good things and bad things.

The gameplay is really fun and the story is as over the top as KOEI has ever gotten. It's genuinely funny and has some very memorable scenes. It's hammy as ****, but in a good way. The characters have more personality than is typical for KOEI games. Also, it's great being able to play as Cao Cao once you finish with the Liu Bei story. He has some enjoyable characters like Cheng Yu.

Kessen II also has the silliest hats in all of vidya.

When I last replayed it though, some things grated me:

-you have to beat the game on both paths to unlock hard mode; most stages are way too easy unless you deliberately make terrible decisions.

-the game has a lot of repeating cutscenes which get tiresome. certain characters when they enter a battle will do some routine and they will do it over and over again...

-formations are kind of a dumb idea honestly. I don't like how they work and how certain ones just outright crush other ones in terms of morale loss. they made the formations system too simplistic, which KOEI tends to do in every game they add formations to.

I wonder if they'll ever try a Kessen-like ROTK game again or if Koei is just done experimenting altogether

:2up:
I guess Kessen sold like **** because it's been years since KOEI bothered with it. I'm pretty sure it's a dead series at this point.

Too bad as I really liked what they did with Kessen 2. The other two games had good stories, but I wasn't as fond of the gameplay.

I just like seeing alternate takes on the 3K story and characters. They're pretty stagnant in their depictions in DW and ROTK, it's nice to see something different every once in a while and spinoff games are great for that

I'm also surprised that no other developer has made an attempt at the 3K setting since Capcom in the 80s (barring those shitty Chinese MOBAs of course)

I'd line up for that. Maybe then I could finally put the PS2 away.

I want BERSERK PS2 remaster
They only make wrestling games now

I'm also amazed that they never put the PS2 DW games on PSN, especially since Tactics is on there!

I think Bandai would make a good Berserk game.

I wonder how Fromsoftware would handle Berserk tho.

Berserk really needs more games than just 3 ones :asia:

Depends on Miura in 2010, he says the story is 70% completed. Now perhaps 80%
The series has too much breaks. I would like to see an adoption about Lost Children and Blackswords man. Game or movie or anything

A side story would be cool as well, like Gut' Rage. Maybe if they make a game with special story it would be cool.
But the very hardcore Berserk fans are always salty about side stuffs

Too great of an arc to be desecrated by the Berserk curse.

I really want to see this moment animited so badly. Reading this moment in the manga was really badass and gives me chills. Probably one of the top best Berserk fights to me

One thing I liked about the Kessen series were the choices you make that could in turn help you. Like none of the choices were inherently bad, but helped you in different ways. Kessen 2 did this best out of the three. Definitely wouldn't mind to see something similar implemented into a Warriors game.

Right? It'd probably only work with Kingdom Mode, instead of individual stories. But I prefer Kingdom Mode anyways.

If the in-game environments are even half as good as that I'll be impressed
